Hello everyone.
I have been encountering an issue for a while now and I thought I d be asking here to know how I could improve it.

Since 5 days, my brother who shares with me the same internet connection 1Mb/sec on a linksys router started downloading torrents. Ever since, my client keeps on disconnecting as long as hes downloading. While not, my SRO connection is fine. I asked him to lower the download limit from 100 Kb/sec which is the maximum for our connection, to 90 KB/sec, so I can save 10 Kb for the Silkroad client. However, it remains extremely laggy and keeps disconnecting every now and then. My question is, isn't the 10 Kb's which are free for the SRO client, assuming no other internet activity is done, sufficient for the client band-with needs? I have seen people with dial up (5 KB/sec max) connections and no lags at all! So why does this keep happening? Please share with me your opinions and sorry for the long text...

Don't worry I lag everyday, recently over 30 sec lag spikes where nothing moves on the screen. My connection has been 10Mb+, only sro running and computer is pretty new with 3G ram etc... I got no idea how to fix it. xD

Im not sure how much bandwith silkroad needs but i always stop my torrents if i want lagless gameplay.but my mom is downloading stuff 24/7 so when i wanna play i limit her speed to 50 .

so with my mom taking 50KB/s i can play silkroad perfectly fine while browsing the web and watching youtube.(i have 2 monitors so im always multitasking.)(i have a 350kb/s limit if your wondering)

i suggest asking him if he can stop all his torrent while you play, dont forget to remind him he has all night to download.

You have to limit the upload speed too, especially with torrents. SRO doesn't use a lot of bandwidth anyways, I used to play on dial up.

yes upload is a BIG killer

is it duplex? i doubt it tho

fine out whats your upload, and use 1/3 of it on torrents the rest on sro.

if its a public torrent site, limit upload to like 8kb.......

cant even grind my ticket cos my cliant isnt even opening

Be a complete ****** and leech torrents at max download and 1kb upload just like me! I wouldn't mind seeding, but I don't even have a good upload rate so why bother lol. Pretty much change it to 1kb upload you -should- be fine. If not tell your brother to limit his torrent down to like 75% of what it is now.
