Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
Hello,
As the title implies, this post is a discussion regarding how the community feels about a Single Player version of the MMORPG Silkroad Online. Before you stare in disbelief, please take a moment to understand the concepts highlighted here:
Some of you might have perhaps played popular single player RPGs like Final Fantasy, Knights of the Old Republic or similar and you might have realized all these games have the potential to be turned into MMORPGs. And as it turns out, this works the other way around too, at least theoretically. The interactiveness in such a version would be quiet different as the player experiences a different kind of game-play than the online version's community centered one. Thus, I would prefer this not to turn into a discussion about which type of game-play is better.
Having a proper storyline specific to which player you select during character select screen and a leveling system that relies on quests rather than repetitive grinding with quests being more interesting and storyline dependent rather than being all about "kill XXX monsters / collect XXX items".
I would like all of you to first forget everything you currently know about the game-play of the online version and approach this discussion with new game-play types in mind and interesting storylines. Remember you've the power to use all of the animations and the graphics and the functions(party, guild, PVP) at hand. The diverse combinations possible are virtually infinite. I would also like you to approach this in a subjective and a relatively open minded manner and gobble down everything written here with a bit of salt.
Put your thinking caps on and start mind mapping, good luck!

Re: Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
I would check it out. Of course things would have to be a LOT different with the leveling system, quests, story line, etc. Then again, the same could be said for the online version. Online could be much improved with better quests and story line at least. Offline version would have no stalls, and all you would have are NPC weapons and whatever you might be able to do with alchemy. Even alchemy would be different because you couldn't buy elements or stones. You have to make everything yourself.
Seems interesting though.

Ive never been a big fan of single player rpgs I get bored quickly of them because u dont have anyone to talk to while playing. I think sro is fine the way it is, except of the goldbots.

I would definitely not play. I don't like single player games, except for things like Carmageddon (many years ago) or GTA ...

Re: Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
after reading this the first game i thought of was oblivion, and dispite what people said, that game had no replay value. but ill do as you ask and hit myself in the head with a bat so i can forget all the wonderful and terrible things about silkroad.
ok, i remember watching 3 sro movies that i felt had a very immersive storyline one of them is the most popular Deity of Sword movies which i will assume you have all seen.
The next one I cant seem to find on youtube any more, but i saw it about 4 years ago. it was about a thief who saved the life of a girl who was about to be killed by a migigi. it turns out that the girl was a hunter and a few days later runs into the same thief and spares his life. then they start to fall in love with each other and the gorl converts to a thief so she can be with them. the hunters guild obviously doesn't like that and hunts them down. the 2 thieves made a stand and killed all the hunters in a very dramatic action scene. this movie was by far my favorite sro movie. it even better than Deity of Sword. it just sucks that i cant find it anywhere.
the last one is this movie:
Code: Select all
just replace all the grinding with quests.

Indeed, a single player version will not at all force you to grind although it would include killing monsters. The storyline should only progress by the completion of major quests.

Re: Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
Quest centered game would require impressive story lines, what kind of Silkroad oriented story lines and quests would please you and keeps you interested in the game till you reach the finish?
Re: Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
more grind and ur alone in the game. imagine, playin 2 years to get max lvl ;o for what? it would be pointless unless it had a good story or something not all the grinding. the fighting style should change too, then maybe SP would be more interesting.

Re: Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
I'd like it if it was like Diablo 2 and you could go online with your single player char to.

Ever seen an RPG that was centered around grinding? No. The topic now is about creating an interesting storyline. So again, thoughts?
Re: Silkroad: Single Player Role Playing Game
Give me that interactive and interesting storyline with the game focused on leveling through an interesting quest system.......But I want it to be online...
