Just like the title says, what do you guys think... For me, i don't think so.>_> Have playing isro for years, Silkroad online i mean, got so much fun from it and of course lots of friend either. It's really a fantasy game though it's old enough and you can't jump or fly like what you can do in many other games. But at the same time, it took me plenty of time, energy and money...though it's free-_- First, you can not even log in game without a premium, cus the the server was always full:( Second, you will find it's really hard to get a good weapon. SOS? just a dream... Okay, i admit, yea i buy gold from gold sellers (maybe there is no "s", cus only one, G K Player team, have to say they are really good guys xD xD)so that i can get what i want, high lvl (of course by taxi), SOS etc... Third, there are also beautiful suits and pets etc in game, they are really awsome, but, you have to pay for it. Or, you can just wear what you get from the poor monsters, stupid armors, sick weapons, you can also ask guys for money who like a beggar>_> Really free games are FREE??? what do you guys think...

the definition of free is "provided without, or not subject to, a charge or payment", therefor this game is free. we didn't pay to download it, we didn't pay to create an account, and we do not need to pay to log in to the game. the queue system now guarantees you a spot in the game as soon as there is room for you. you not being able to afford the best weapons and armors with in-game money or the fact you cant reach the lvl cap easily doesn't change the fact that its still a free game. im sorry you dont want to work hard to get the things you want in life, but thats just the way it is. as for the pets and avatars, look at it this way; if you win a free PS3, do you expect all the games for it to be free? besides, if everyone had all the avatars and pets then they wouldn't be special to have. you wouldn't want them.
also, congrats on your free ban

Free to play mmo's are "free" , however you will NEVER be consider "1337". odds are u will get owned by players that invest real $ in it. the point of most MMO's is to A)lvl up, B)buy the best gear C)pvp/war others to rant that u got bigger balls.

The problem with free to play mmo's are that they eventually make it a necessity to buy their item mall enhancers to be able to compete. They are in business to make money, not in it to give away free entertainment.
To be able to compete in silkroad, you need to spent like 60 bucks a month for all the garbage they put out now. Without any of those extra items, you pretty much are worthless on the battlefield.

It is free, you can install and play the game at NO cost. You CHOOSE to buy silk. People try to make JM sound bad by saying they force you to buy silk blah blah.
NO. they dont make you. People just get greedy and want to level faster and are too lazy to grind themselves, so they feel the need to buy prem after prem

i posted the definition of free for something you know
now, whoever wants to argue with me, that it's actually free to play, sure, if you want to have 2 general definitions of pay to play and free to play, but this game is not clearly free to play, as in the true meaning of the words, don't bs around.

20 bucks and you'll do fine.
The game is F2P cuz you don't have to pay to get online, although it will cost you quite a while then.

Pay 2 play games are better because there is a non-kids and non-turks filter that disallows those nubs to enter+ it's cheaper than F2P. You pay little price but everyone equal. F2P games are fail

If you don't have to spend a penny to log in and play the game.. it's free. Of course then paying costumers would get some sort of benefits, because well.. they're paying to feed the servers and paychecks.
I played Silkroad mostly silk free. Bought a couple silver premiums(farmed week and to 80 in a month. 90cap came out and I wanted to level up fast then 100cap came I ragequit), pirate suit(Looks got me so I bought it even though I got like 5 free witch sets. Don't remember what came first so w/e), and devil spirit for a couple months(Left over silk and was a 'must' for awhile). That roughly adds up to like $50~60 for a couple years on my character. Trust me you can play Silkroad without paying a dime. You guys just assume and get in the mind set premiums are needed. Avatar suits are needed etc etc. If you are party playing that doesn't matter in any way which is why I was able to play for so long for so little. I depended on someone else as much as he/she depended on me. That is the great joy of euro characters have which no one realizes. Sorry but Chinese characters are s.o.l on that.. in a way.
Also lol this made the front page of mmosite.

I believe in this too, somewhat anyway; games with item mall are generally all around full of fail(compare guildwars to silkroad) 1 time 20$ price for all the content and playtime you want, in contrast vs x price for x playtime. (had a better idea in my head how to type this out, came out quite shitty though)

You can't compare a free game to a paid game (purchase wise ofcourse) because a paid game has to be somewhat decent otherwise it wont justify the money you spend on purchasing it.

this is exactly why i posted the meaning of free
you guys should seriously check it out
but ofc, as i've said, i accept if you want to have 2 general meanings, for a free to play game, and for a pay to play game, but even if you think in those parameters, it still doesn't mean silkroad is actually free to play, in the meaning of the word

well Silkroad is free and at the same time its p2p, simple as that. you can download the client and register for free but you pretty much have to pay to log in and get priveleges in the game itself

How was I "bsing around" in any way? Jm doesnt make you pay to login to their game, therefor how is it pay to play. I dont know if im missing something or what, but I see it as the player is left to make the choice to pay or not.

i disagree on some things, compareing F2P and P2P is a good example, for instance WoW is a p.o.s. game like flyff both are catoon games, and boring as hell difference is flyff is F2P and WoW is P2P, another is star ware galaxies, been playing it the last month and it is one of the P2P games that is best out there, just like sro is among some of the best F2P games out there even though the traffic sucks on it, theres alternatives to sro, theres vco, cabal, exteel, perfect world, those are just as fun as sro
