Censoring all variations of the word "bot?" I saw a couple posters ask to "ban" the word bot in General Discussion Thoughts? Opinions? QQs?

derpa derpity doo.
I say rather than censoring it, put the same puishment of NAMING a 3rd party program. Cause that’s exactly what it is. I know my opinions don’t matter, but there it is.

Exposed botters isnt IN GD its a different section of the forum. does any buddy read?
and what would it solve Pfff? perhaps GD will get back to a disscussion of SRO and not become an orgy of bullshit all the time.

Don't ban the word bot itselve, but DO ban all the various types of bot. Immediately effective versus bot advertisement, because that won't be possible anymore.

What is point of censoring bot?
SRF got screwed up with EB section, dont make another mistake you cannot change back.

No thanks!
If the word get censored people will just find another word for the same thing. That's what gamers always have been doing... It won't help.

nope. on the contrary it's a solution to shut Ofy up. Then I wouldn't have to point out the obvious bots.
People would even get help for their b*t programs. SRF would get more members. And SRF would loose the "hypocrite" title outsiders give us. <-- Not something I'm making up.
what are you talking about? he is saying to not allow talking about bots in general, not just the banning of SPECIFIC program names. are you saying that if people cant mention the names of third party programs, and then others cant sit around and yell bot all day that this will somehow invite botters to "get help with their bot programs?" what?

I think it's a good idea, however, variations such as macroing (which is used in all the ToC's of each and every MMORPG/Online Game), should still be allowed just so there is a clear indication of what someones talking about incase they need to use it in some form/way.

i'd keep it...it's a part of this shetty game...i'd rather someone researching into playing the game on this site know the truth
eg. it be like drugs/porn/etc. that parents try to keep their kids away from...kids find one way or another if they rly want it

O_o wait wut. the definition of admission I know is like allowance. and I was saying "Barotix was gonna allow botters on SRF" so I thought you had asked me is that an allowance request?
And so I responded with nope. on the contrary
it's a solution to shut Ofy up.... (my top reply).
sorry i thought we established what you thought and moved on to explaiing why you think cencoring "bot" would be a good idea. whew.

+1. people can complain about alchemy, server traffic, and farming but oh god no don't talk about my bot friends that way or I banzors you!

The people complaining about the bots are not the problem. It's the bots that are the problem.

Nahh, i don't think it will help.
It's not like you're calling someone a name if you call him a bot.
We're not little kids here. It's just a word.

then how come a thread cant be made and someone always has to ask if he is a bot, for example the +15 thread.

it's called sense
sro population doesn't deserve the "innocent until proven guilty" treatment like srf offers here
it's not difficult to pick out a cheater in sro, it's very difficult to pick out a legit among the cheaters though

Well, look at the way posters use the term bot on this forum. It's the main source of topic derailment.

my opinion is no bot discussion in GD, that gets old real fast, only in EB it should be allowed, right Bob

I'd by pass it the same way I bypass fu
ck anyway.
Its just pointless, the way to get SRF better is truly by warning / banning the one that starts the flame war / does anything unapropiate for topic.
Any topic that starts with flame war should get locked when first mod sees it.
Thats how topics will get locked all the time, and eventually people will start to think before they are talking. (This could be abused by I-want-to-destroy-srf-so-I'll-just-remade-accounts-and-start-the-flame-war).
I know its hard for only one mod to watch over it - try recruiting some more helpful people, I bet there is bunch of people that spend lots of time in GD, and get frustrated by these kinds of topics, and want to change SRF To better.
The community on SRF got ruined (except the OTL), and if things stay this way, nothing will change.
Just do it all smart and think through before making any serious decisions

botters on srf are obvious, but since the community is mainly made up of botters, (which is also obvious, you can call it an accusation if you like) whom have no interest in exposing there buddies/enemies on their servers due to the scare of 2 birds-1 shot scenario, and the ppl who are legit, a small amount, just don't have enough time to clean this place up.
as long as srf run's the "innocent until proven guilty," the community will remain as is, or possibly sink further, obvious cheaters are obvious
edit: locking topics about bots/3rd pt apps quickly doesn't improve the community, in time, it may, but your not changing the community, your just limiting what can be discussed in GD, this method will work, but would require many more mods, possibly on 24/7 patrol lol. and this may lead to gd falling apart, dead, if every topic begins to get locked after 3/4 posts, which is bound to hpn

I like the idea. Topics or conversations about bot accusations should only be in EB and not allowed in GD.
IIRC, Rev6 has that policy and a quick browse at their GD, it doesn't look as shitty as SRFs. Yes, it is hypocritical for them to do it, but it works.
