501 ways to solve the bot problem

A just for fun thread. Please don't respond with "ban them" as that is one of the problems in the first place, sro has no way of telling who is a bot, and who isn't. Instead, consider putting: "ban anyone who has been grinding nonstop for more than 4 hours"

I'll start off.

1. Have a useless server update every day. (solves log in at least)
2. Have everyone start the game at level 100 with 2m skill points. :D

DO NOT POST FLAMES ABOUT BOTS HERE!!! This is not a topic to discuss bots, but creative means of getting rid of them

Dont think that helps against the bot problems.

Launch a massive DDoS attack on the gold-bot websites and their servers? The trick is keeping it sustained for days and not being detected by civil authorities.

That's where you're wrong. Even if they can't do it through an automated fashion (it's not impossible) they can have several active GMs in all servers. If random noobs in the community can spot bots... "hey what's that guy doing to that tree?... why are there 42 identical characters standing on the same xy coordinate by the pots NPC?... how are there 5 characters grinding in sync with each other?..." then a Joymax GM should be able to do it as well and ban them on the spot.

If gold bots start getting banned that way as they are all pouring out the city gates, gold companies may think twice about logging in.

1. actually have a GM login and ban a few real players lvl 90+

2. ending powerlvl by creating a huge exp penalty when someone 11 lvls over the monster joins the pt would help a lot

3. lower the sp requirment to something more reasonable

4. Requiring all new accounts to be activated by email. The email will be sent 24 hours after the account is made. This email will ask a randomly generated question and you have 2 tries to get it right. It won't be a math question in order to prevent bots from automating this process. If the user gets the answer wrong both times the email will be sent again in 24 hours. (the question of course should be fairly easy ex what is the most populated city in the US, what planet do you live on.)

5. sell sp in item mall with a limit ex. 50k sp for 200 silk. Can only be purchased once every 30 days. Sell gold in item mall with a limit. 100m gold for 200 silk, can only be purchased once every 30 days.

666. gold has to be a reward for finishing quests and not because of griding.

Yeah really... I've NEVER heard of a tiger or wolf or bee or sand worm or fish skeleton carrying a pile of gold around with them. What is THAT all about?

I agree gold should be a reward you get for achieving something, not just for killing a monster that happens to be carrying gold.

lol 1) by standing 30 mins in game, I can pick out the 3499 bots and the 1 legit of the game.

Unless I'm logged in. Then there would be more than 1 legit.

1. Decrease Ammount of Gold Drops (People have to do quests & Job to gain better ammount of gold, and goldbots don't wan't to do that since there is chanche that they will get robbed during the trade run)

2. Allow Selling Silk Items in Stalls (People don't have to buy gold, they can buy silk items and sell the for high price, and Joymax still gets money from it, and replaces charche back, or w/e it is)

3. Put GameGuard ON

4. Active GMs (GameMasters should discuss with real players so JM can solove problems)

5. Make/Update events, less people will quit and JM gets the Income (Like Update CTF to 3 teams fight, team who gets control of all three falgs in the end of the game wins, and also make something like you can give 10, 25 and 50 tickets, and giving 50 instead of 10 you will have better rewards for example)

6. I Can't think anymore :banghead:

they disabled it because many people used CCF for getting item mall items and to get rich.....thats the reason, and even with a ban of the viets from sro, there are still many ppl ccfing.

this is to solve sro.. not to solve bot problem

make gold drops x0.2 , and make jobbing gold x5/3 ,thats all.. u will really enjoy sro after this .. AND NEVER MAKE item mall items stall able

They could let us sell item mall items in a stall, but put a level requirement on it. You must be lvl 80+ to sell item mall items in your stall for example. That way people can't just make a bunch of new accounts, buy item mall items, stall them, and then chargeback. I think people would be less likely to commit credit card fraud if they're risking losing a high level character instead of a lvl 1.

Silly you. First Joymax's contract with GG expired. GG is a HORRIBLE protection program for anything. I mean honestly.. you can snag it to scan MSN and it'll keep checking msn if you're hacking. <-- This did truly exist at one point. GG is easily bypassable and it detects programs that can get updated in a minute.

Plain simple.. Game guard is just baaaaaaaaaaad. Best protection for ANY game to have is a developer made from the own game. Why? They know more of their game and if they put their mind to it they can create something. Silkroad you know what they can do? Make it a 10minute wait login between each i.p and many other ways, but they're just lazy. They don't want to do it, because if servers aren't full.. who would buy premiums? Free money to Joymax. So why change anything?

powerfarm wizards to lvl 70 with only fire attack skill, fire passive, life control -

keep murdering bots all day, if everyone did this and then murdered gold bots nonstop and not attack each other, the bots wouldnt be able to collect gold and eventually everything would cease...

(nah but for real why bother just play another version of sro thats not managed by joymax)
