I find it odd. There are zero, ZERO gold bots in mugiji or penons..... This is hard to comprehend.... I guess just give it a few minutes? haha xP

Haha. I expected something along the lines of this. Normally there are atleast a few RIGHT after inspection. I was just excited because I havnt seen it like this for years lolz

Look at the server capacity now, subtract that from the server cap, and that's how many gold bots are. SRO would be completely dead.

This time it might take quite a while for the bots to update since Joymax scrambled all the opcodes for the Gameserver, this is not a bulletproof(nothing really is) solution but as stated on their website this 'restriction' will slow down bots by a fair amount mostly because no one was expecting such a change to occur(although a new protection system was expected).

Such a measure was taken by Joymax in the past too but this as previously stated only comes as a slight frustration and of course such changes can be recognized automatically via byte signatures but I doubt most Silkroad developers were prepared before hand.

Let us hope that this is only the blare of the horn before the battle really starts. A full scrambling of opcodes + a better protection system might put an end to both packet & memory based bots once and for all but only if they keep switching tactics and updating their security.

Thanks for the information.

I was just thinking of something like that, about changing something the bots just can't do a quick fix.

Wow, 3 hours after an inspection and all servers mostly still green... That's something...

But also, it could only mean TONS of people just use SBOT... and maybe the new "system" is giving shiva a hard time coming up with a new bot. LoL!

changed opcodes means no bot will work till they have found out what the new codes are...

apart from the servers being utterly empty.. lag is starting to annoy everyone, even without bots

They've stopped a fair amount of them. That's why I still have faith in them.

Well I'll be damned. Reminds me of when Europe first came out. I give it 2 days - 1 week. Took about 3-4 days for the bots to come back in full force after Europe.

Ofcourse they will find a way to crack it. Why for example do you think virusscanners have updates? Newer virusses come out, so do newer bots come out. It will always be a cat and mouse game between the developers and the makers of the bots.

The only problem is that JM doesnt update if a new bot comes out.

So just /ban all of the spam bots before trying to have a conversation in all chat. I know you shouldn't HAVE to do that, but it's a nice workaround until the spam bots are all banned someday.

Exactly. I know I've said before something along these same lines. If Joymax is changing things in the game, like the opcodes, they need to do it on a regular basis, perhaps every week at inspection. The bot makers will always find a way to crack Joymax's security, but Joymax just needs to patch it quickly to keep them out.

It's like security in any other information system. Security is not just a one-time solution. It's an ongoing process. You always have to keep your security up to date to counter the latest attacks.

Nope, it's just that the bot developers didn't expect such a tactic from JM as changing opcodes. It only took them what.. 9 hours or so to release a new bot today.
If they did do it again the bots would be able to patch much quicker next time.

I dont care how long it lasts. I love it. I logged in last night, and actually saw a trade. Took part in a nice Hotan-Sam.And just sitting in Hotan, people were actually talking haha, sitting in little groups by various vendors. Best time on silkroad I've had in quite sometime. Joymax just gained a bit back in my book lol.
