Things From Other Games

Well, I decided this would be a decent thread to start.

Pretty much, what I am aiming for is the discussion of things, events and systems that are in other games (MMORPG, FPS) that could be a nice addition to Silkroad Online. I just want to note that Joymax does not read this forum, as far as I know, so the chances of these ideas getting add to the game are quite minimal, yet we can have hope, I guess. :)

Well, I will kick it off by saying that I think instances (taken from WoW) should to be added. I think if a team of up to 10 people worked together in a dungeon, with the chance of getting rare equipment drops from the bosses, it would make the team based play of the game extremely enjoyable.

I'ma say this before everyone else does.

Better Anti-Bot measures.

Personally, I have always wondered what would ahppen in SRO was P2P.

I quite like it. Uniques are more of a team thing though, not everyone for them self.

True. But let's not turn this thread into the usual cock fight. :)

I think professions in general would be awesome. Go fishing at the Yeoha lake or something, or cooking food which can then be used for health regeneration. :)

I like the idea of an offline stall system.

I was thinking, there could be some premium features like server transfers or character name changes, similar to WoW.

;-)

If they can't stop the botters may'be looking at the root cause of botting in any form and then try to counter them.

1) Botting for level and or SXP - Freeze EXP/SXP or reverse it (lol the botters de-levels).

2) Botting for gold - its a hard one to act-on.
a: Remove the gold from each gold bot (player or company) would take to long unless a system would detect and stop the gold drops to a botter.
b: Gold sellers @ some point need to transfer gold from char to char ready to sell, then taking the gold from them.
c: A better option in my view, would be to take the gold directly from the gold buyer. This hopefully would make gold buyers think about buying as it could be removed. The charge back(s) would be funny, gold sellers would be losing really money and joymax would start banning accounts.

3)Botting for items to sell - remove the items from the buyers account or reduced drop rate of suns making it hard for players to have full sun sets.

4)Botting for plvl - unless the char(s) in a party are with-in 5 levels of each other (level 1-5 / 6-10 / 91-95 / 96-100 etc) and 5 levels of the mob. The party wouldn't gain any EXP, unless the mob was a unique. Allowing lowers levels to see them getting killed and an added bonus of extra EXP/SXP.

CloudStrider wrote:

Humm = (I hope)

GM active and visible in game. As p2p would also mean service with customer support and active action on feed back.

Higher rates of EXP/SXP so you could cap to level 100 and be farmed for 1.5 skill tree's in 240 hours (120 days @ 2 hours aday) of grind vs the same level mob, cap to 150 in 480 hours. Party play (with in 5 levels of mobs and party) would = x1.5 EXP/SXP rate. Allowing players to try other builds with out spending years on 1 build.

To promote jobbing (as the game is silk road) only chars with in the same DEG could attack each other ie DEG 4 vs 4 / DEG 9 vs 9 etc. So starting off, the lower part of the DEG its hard but as you progress with-in the DEG it gets easier to battle with other players.

Jobbing successfully = char points that can be converted to:

a: Alchemy points that could be used to produce non - negative effect stones. ie if a stone is successful it would not effect any other stat and not lower the stat its for.

b: Pet points that allow the player to spawn a pick up pet for 15 days and then upgrade it to a maximum of 5 pages.

c: SXP points to help with farming. ie 2 sucessful jobs (trade/hunter/thief) every 10 days would provide a 100% SXP ticket for the next 10 days.

Thanks. :)

although kinda cool in concept, lets not turn this game into runescape now =D

i would like add some sort of anti ks system. Forgot which game had this but if you wanted to ks, a popup screen would show up for whoever was killing the mob first and can select whether to accept the "help" or not. Sure, more work, but ksing is worst

if you walk around the back alleys in Jangan there are some NPC's that are named something along the lines of Lottery man whatever and prize collector bill or something, put those guys into use, a gold version of the pop cards, or like keno or something you go to one of the guys pick 4-5 number and each number cost a certian amount of gold and weekly or daily they broadcast a set of numbers over the whole server and if 1 or more of your numbers gets called you could win gold, elixirs, equipts, or even temporary 10day silk pets

Joymax used to read the forums. I'm sure they still do but it never changed anything.

They just simply need to add better customer service/staff and everything that comes along with a good company will follow.

Read my original thread you jerk. It's a thread to discuss cool ideas that would be great to see in Silkroad Online. I didn't ask for them to be implemented.

What about a random arenas system like in Guild Wars. Everyone registers to enter the arena, then it's 4v4 and it's random what party you get. You could be lucky and get a cleric, or have an all out nuker party.

That may be true of the high level uniques, but when is the last time you saw a team of people work together to take down Tiger Girl? Any time I've ever seen it, it was a high level 3-hitting Tiger Girl a minute or so after she spawns. Not much team work there.

I was thinking, perhaps, there could be an offline mode for SRO. Make it so if you can't log into the game, you could play offline. There would be no other characters to interact with, but you could go out grinding at least.

I'm not really into programming myself, but I think that doing something offline like that would mean that it'd become easy to hack silkroad (in general). I like the idea anyways.

Well maybe they could make it so you can't level offline, but you could do a multi-player LAN game with some friends doing trade runs or PVP or CTF or something. You could enjoy those parts of the game with your character, disconnected from Joymax's servers, then log into iSRO again to level.

Of course you could still do all of those things online, but if you just want to open up SRO and PVP with some friends for a while, you shouldn't need Joymax's servers for it.

i doubt "Silkroad Offline" would be as fun. However, they could make channels within each servers like Cabal to sorta accomplish what you suggested.

Even with channels, if the login servers are all flooded, the chances of logging into any of the 35+ servers is slim. I can see how some people might not want to wait an hour or two just to get together with a group of friends for some PVP or a trade run. This way you can experience some parts of the game without battling server traffic. Then if you want to actually improve your character, you need to log in.

Silkroad Offline shouldn't actually affect Silkroad Online, otherwise people might farm all sorts of stuff offline and bring it to the servers.

Channels might help though.

oh my god, WATER. I want to be able to swim. When I used to play Everquest (old school), I loved swimming. There are a gazillion things that would be a great addition to SRO. But you don't better an old game, you make a new one.
In fact I miss old EQ. I haven't seen any game come close to it and things are getting worse as the years are passing with this "casual gaming" market that dumbs things down to an always more ridiculous level.
Each new game confirms the trend. Always more stupid, futile, incredibly easy and meaningless gameplay.
I mean they (the game companies nowadays) constantly reach lows that I would never have guessed they would dare reaching. I guess their targeted audience is clinical morons.

I miss the 3D from EQ too. Fock the camera-views in SRO. I want real 3D and real subjective-point-of-view cam. Immersion is much bigger than way. Add to that the fear factor (real losses when you die, dangerous enemies from lvl 1 onward) and you have a winner... in my book, but I'm of the dinosaurs-customers market.

Swimming in EQ you could go underwater and sit down on the bottom. There were even some good mobs in a few spots, even whole zones underwater.
