I recently installed isro back to my pc, i use windows vista. All was fine, and now i get a message popup every so often asking me to validate "make windows genuine" windows and certain features of vista wont work untill i do....
I did a google search, and it seems gameguard has caused this issue for people before with games that use it, however ive never had this issue before with isro

I may have to un-install and system restore but that will mean i cant play isro

Anyone know a quick fix, my windows is genuine lol

I dont want a vista sucks thread as i know xp is better. lol
nProtect GameGuard (sometimes called GG, with a driver named GameMon?.des) is a game anti-cheating software developed by INCA Internet. It is bundled with many multiplayer online games such as Phantasy Star Universe, MapleStory?, Gunbound, GunZ: The Duel, Sudden Attack, FlyFF, Ragnarok Online and 9dragons to block certain applications and common methods of cheating. Some editions of GameGuard are now bundled with Norton's "Tachyon" anti-spyware library, and others with nProtect KeyCrypt? (advertised as anti-keylogger software). KeyCrypt? is used to emulate keyboard hardware to block macro programs, but is currently not capable of blocking keyloggers.[1] It hides the game application process, monitors the entire memory range, terminates applications defined by the game vendor and INCA to be cheats, blocks certain calls to DirectX functions and Windows APIs and auto-updates itself to change as new threats surface. Even with these measures, GameGuard can still be compromised by using modified versions of Cheat Engine coupled with server emulation utilities. On some games such as MapleStory?, the game itself does a hash check of the GameGuard revision currently running and will exit if it does not match the hash on the server side.
Because of its method of actuation (similar to a rootkit), it is criticized for being too invasive. The software installs a device driver and offers no way to uninstall it; even uninstalling the game will still leave some files hidden on the system. In recent versions (revision 1203 and up), GameGuard fails to halt when the game ends, so GameGuard continues to use resources and inject code into processes. This is usually not noticeable to the end-user, as GameGuard masks its intense CPU usage by hooking Windows system querying APIs.
For some games such as MapleStory?, GameGuard assists with automated banning (if certain addresses are modified or out of an acceptable range).
GameGuard is sometimes cited by users of a specific game as unusable because of numerous errors when attempting to run a game, including the infamous "Error 114," which details that anti-virus or HIPS software has blocked GameGuard from either elevating privileges or performing a necessary task. Most times the actual reason of this error is that some GameGuard versions are incompatible with non-English editions of Windows XP (Russian, Portuguese etc).
GameGuard also conflicts with Windows Vista, causing the OS to be recognized by Microsoft as not genuine. This has been fixed with a patch, but many games have not applied this patch yet.
It is also worth mentioning that the software is poorly translated. The term "rimmomg" (instead of running) is used in at least one English error message and some aren't even translated for their English versions, though all error messages are uniquely non-specific no matter the language.
Seems joymax are using a dated gameguard, as this wouldnt happen if they used the patch

You shouldn't have any GameGuard issues at all, since Joymax hasn't had their software implemented for over 2 years now.
I know you said it is a genuine copy but I can tell you right now, that isn't true. Your best bet is to go and purchase a legit copy of Vista or XP, before you start blaming Silkroad Online.

Nothing to do with gameguard. Have you recently udpated vista? Check the last updates, maybe MS released one to block non-genuine copies. KB940510?

Alright. I was only trying to help. The amount of people who claim to have a legit copy when they in fact don't is a huge amount.
To be honest, go f

"but I can tell you right now, that isn't true" Is a stupid thign to say, cus i can tell you now it is true

And its a common error which has happened to many people who have installed games using gameguard

How obvious can i make it that my windows is legit, this damn forum is full of paranoid people everytime somethign goes wrong ur not "legit"......lol, ive searched google for hours and its obvious this is an error caused by software that isnt valid on vista. I cant control that

So go **** yourself as you're not helping at all really tbh

I am using Vista Ultimate x64 and have not had any issues with it at all. My best friend plays Silkroad Online and uses Vista Home Premium x86 and has no problems. His brother also plays Silkroad Online with Vista Home Premium x86 and does not have any problems. Oh wait, his friend plays using Vista Ultimate x86 and has no problems.
They all use legit copies of Vista. Joymax don't even use GameGuard. In fact, the authenticating application you see when the client opens is a mock up. It isn't even the official GameGuard software from 2 years back.
I don't care what you say. Get a legit copy of Win32 or Win64, or go download Linux Ubuntu and run Silkroad Online using Wine.

And i dotn care what you say, im using a family pc with a valid windows vista installation.....just because a few of your friends can play it, doesnt mean errors arent there! I have played isro fine on this pc prior to this current installation on vista myself also. So dude, stfu you're basing it off a few cases, when i can tell you now from looking online allot of people have had this error! And its due to vista and certain software not working together forcing vista into this state...not much i can do but ask for help and try and fix it

And i've fixed the problem, i downloaded software which fully restored registeries and uninstalled sro completely from my system, i was then able to validate windows online so its sorte dnow. I think this time i will dl sro from the official site lol, whatever happened with that last install was corrupt.
So you can stop the facts i already know JBerlyn....lol
