The big glitch????

Okay, I'm not sure when this started, either after the update on Monday or the latest update 2.02 but for some weird reason, the game crashes whenever I try to log in with any non-prem account. I'm using Vista 64-bit. I have no problem logging in with the PREM account (go figure :x ) but whenever I try to log in with the non-prem, as soon as I click on either Enter or Connect, it closes and just gives me the "Sro_Client.exe has stopped working" error. I figured it's something to do with their auto-login system (either the graphics or what I don't know) considering I don't get that with the prem account.

It works fine with Windows XP with non-prem account, but in this Vista is the only one I'm having problem with.

I've tried re-installing the client already. I even tried installing it to the 32-bit folder instead of the 64-bit since I had a problem with the 32-bit the first time but it's still the same.

Okay, I tried running that in compatibility mode with Windows XP. Still nothing. It crashes. I'm assuming it's crashing from the part where the game is trying to load the auto-login message.

So it loads everything fine until you click connect? Than it auto-crashes??? Have you tried re-installing the client?

Yes, everything loads fine until I press on connect. For a split second I'll see the requesting information then it closes and I'll get the "sro_client.exe has stopped working" message.

Yup. I tried 3 different accounts in one server all non-prem. Exactly same thing.

I hope this gets fixed soon, my main account will lose its prem within 10 days lol.

I've checked the official main site forum and it seems some people are experiencing the same thing with 64-bit system and Windows 7. Hopefully whoever has 64-bit system here has found a solution can share them to us please ^^

What do you have now?
Windows Vista 64Bit or Windows 7 64Bit?

And i know that iSRO is running fine in Vista 64Bit. Had it installed in one of my comps and worked fine with iSRO. But dont have it installed there anymore.

Wasnt there a 32Bit option for program startup? Cant remember actually. if so, check it with this.

Well, like I said on my previous posts many times, the client works perfectly fine (no problem whatsoever) with a premium account. BUT whenever I try to log in with a non-premium account, it will crash as soon as I click on connect (the part where it tries to load the auto-login message) and it will give me the error "sro_client.exe has stopped working". Again, I also mentioned that I use Vista 64-bit but I did read that it also has the same issue on Windows 7 from the sro main site.

I am running Vista x64 Ultimate and have had no issues with it whatsoever. I have also ran on Windows 7 RC1 x64 and no issues again. I suggest you turn off User Account Control (UAC) and re-install SRO. This should fix your problem. :)

I've always run Vista without UAC and I've re-installed SRO many times already as I also stated in my first post. Are you logging in without any PREMIUM? If so, then you're one of the lucky ones I guess. But if you do have premium, then try logging in an account without any premium to see if you have any issue on it.

I've had no problem running the sro client with my non-premium before. It was just this last inspection that this problem started.

LOL. How can you be sure of something you have no control over? And are you telling me that it is an incomplete or have missing files when it runs PERFECTLY FINE with a premium account?

That's quite alright. Hopefully anyone who has the same issue has a workaround on this that might like to share :)

because when you login through a premium , the autologin is bypassed , hence maybe the error is an incomplete update which would cause someone to crash, I don't know, just giving suggestions as to what it may be, seems you are one of few with this problem which means its not the game itself , rather your files / pc

So are you suggesting that all those 5 times that I've uninstalled and re-installed, it somehow keep skipping the auto-login update? And as far as I know, everytime you try to run a program that's incomplete or has missing files on it, it won't work at all.

Not always, it depends on whether anything in the corrupt segment contains functions and whether or not one of those functions is called by the application.

Oh and one more thing, is anyone also keeps getting the server inspection message when you try to launch the client? I get it every other launch since I'm trying to look for a workaround for the crash, and it pops-up so often. My friend said he's been getting that one too just recently.

Try deactivating Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for silkroad. Hopefully it helps.

This didn't work for me either. No matter which compatibility mode I try, Windows XP, 98, 2000, etc. still wont' work :/ Weird.

And I'm not really comfortable on trying the DEP that someone suggested because I know nothing about it. If someone can try it and if it works please let me know.

That's it probably, got it disabled for silkroad here too.

Out of boredom, I did try the DEP settings and it even made it worse. The sro_client couldn't even run it'll just go straight to the error. So any more suggestions? ^^
