An Idea to get rid of gold bots. MUST READ

Hello Forum Readers!

Today I have a message for you, about an idea I thought of that could fix some problems on silkroad. We all know Joymax loves money, and they try to trick us with the magic pop, new auto log in system, etc. And we all know its just a scam to make them more money. Joymax does not want to ban gold bots because they make so much money on premium from users who don't have time to try and log in for 6 hours. But, what if Joymax sold gold as an item mall item? Joymax could sell gold for the same price as gold-sites do, as well as fix our #1 complaint, banning ALL gold bots. The money they would lose from people who don't have a need for premium anymore, would be averaged or surpassed by the money they would make from selling gold as an item mall item. Our servers would become drastically uncrowded, more legit players would join, more people would find it more fun to play the game again!

think about this idea joymax, even though I know you will most likely remove my post as soon as you read it.

And for those who agree with me, repost this topic on any forum you would like!

Credit card fraud. Silks were sold in the early days of iSRO if I'm correct, and a lot of guys made new chars, bought lots of silk, sold them, put money on main account and did chargeback.

the problem is JM doesnt give a shit about its users and every message they receive gets directly into the dustbin.

Also, the server would be crowded as usual because more players come online and fill up the server and people who bot would log in lots of goldbots, which work for themselves. On Troy, people have about 20+ goldbots over 80 to farm gold for them.

that wont work at all.
You cant stall etc. And if they made you able to buy normal gear etc. with it they would sell herbs for 200mill e.g.

I already came up with the idea to rid (or greatly reduce) the game of the gold bots at least. And that idea was to remove gold drops from the game completely. No gold drops from mobs anymore. And the items the mobs drop would worth a very very small amount when sold to NPC..(Like real small). Not even worth selling.

Our gold would come from triangular conflicts and not from mobs anymore. Increase the amount of gold that can be made from thieving, trading or defending a trade(hunting). If JM makes you get a lot of gold from doing a simple trade run then there is no need for gold bots anymore.

Gold bot owners wouldn't dare write a program to do trade runs knowing that everyone in the game would want to rob it out of sheer revenge, spite, greed and anger. Just look at how some high lvls kill these gold bots as they leave town with NPC thieves on your sever. And bots are dumb...they couldn't properly defend themselves since their actions are predetermined.

There are trade bots I think. =/
And how would you make money in the lower lvls, and how do you get enough money to buy some goods to get to another town?

I dunno if trade bots are just a rumour. But I've never seen one. And if there was no gold drops anymore and trade bots do exist we'd see a lot of them because it would be the only way to make gold.

Now ask yourself what can a trade bot do to protect itself. How flexible is it to defend itself?. Its highly limited in what it could do. First of all it takes predetermined routes. Which is bad. Secondly it needs the help of others to secure its trade. Who would be these others? bot hunters? If there is such a thing then even they would be easy to deal with. A bot selects a target and goes to it and executes some skills. It doesn't think to itself that the thief over there is trying to lure me away from the trade so his buddies can rob it..Nor does it thinks to itself that the thief in the middle of or standing behind those other thieves pose the most (or least) threat therefore attack first or last. Bots are purely reactionary. They'd be hooped.

As for the low lvls everyone can start out with a little gold like say 20k and the NPCs can help out low lvls much more with items in terms of gear until they reach a lvl where they can trade. And of course rather than have a star restriction on trades the game could have lvl restrictions. So high lvls wont deny a low the opportunity to make money. only another low lvl could try to steal a trade from another low lvl.

BuDo, programming improves consistently.

I know for a fact that bot applications can determin things that most would not even imagine, if programmed correctly however.

The OP's idea is good, but I can't see it being implemented. Joymax needs to start with cheat detection software and possible change the packet subject names because that is what the clientless botters are using.

Yes programming improves consistently but I highly doubt that there is a program out there with the self awareness and intellect to make decisions dynamically, pro actively and reactively when dealing with the cunningness of you and I as humans..Sometimes we do stuff ourselves out of sheer instincts. Not saying that simply robbing a trade is a complex matter but there are lots of stuff you can get away with while dealing with a bot than you can get away with when dealing with a human player.

Even if such programming exists, It is unlikely it would be used here in this little old game we call SRO. Programming like that are reserved for robots. And even they dont fully understand everything we do. Heck we don't understand our own selves completely. The OP has a good idea yes cept that lots of people don't have money to pay for everything single thing the game has to offer including loggin online

It's called AI programming. If you try Dota (warcraft), they made a quite good AI. Yet, real players are always better, but that doesn't mean that they can't do a 1* trade at lvl <40. Imagine all goldbots go to trade instead of leveling.
1 trade = 30 mins = 100k profit.
2000 bots = 200M each 30 mins. That's not small amount at all.

That might even be faster than goldbotting lol.

I've seen trade bots, they looked funny xD

It could be done. The program would have access to all the information the client has access to. A trade bot could definitely make reactive decisions. Bots do this all the time when they grind.

Considering the extreme number of bots, I think the goldbot companies are very motivated to write this kind of bot should your system ever be implemented.

I think I saw a trade bot once, and it couldn't make 'reactive decisions'. Like getting off its ox when I attacked it. The best part was that it always tried again. I think I made ~20m that day.

Joymax Could do This:

Allow Selling of Silk Items by Stall, Someone who Wantas Gold don't have to buy gold from gold-sites, s/he could buy Silk and then something like SP Scrolls or Magic PoP Cards and could sell them, Joymax wouldn't lose too much profits and we would get rid of Goldbots.

(Was That Good Idea :? )

It could work now that Joymax doesn't give back any money with a chargeback.

1*s aren't save. In fact they are really easy to kill. Get a trader friend (>lvl 50) spawn some earth wiz / lightning bows and byebye.
Thiefing is much easier than trading. You only need to find the trade, the rest is just lame (and bottlenecks exist on every traderoute).

And for the first 20 lvls you could create quests which gives u gear+pots (non tradeable), problem solved.

Another way is to remove gold at low level or set amount of gold drop of low level extremely low. Set the amount of gold award from quest. And quests are required to level up. Some quest can be repeated (and bots will abuse it to farm quest).

I sent JM all suggestions above, in hope that they'd take it in consideration

I am 100% sure trade bots exist.
Take a look at the silkroad online website, and the highest traders are TraderGirl and TraderBoy. They were already the highest 2 years ago, when I started on silkroad. =/
