So, as the title says... What do you guys think would happen if all the bots miraculously disappeared? I only recently started back up, and I have to say... I honestly think the servers would pretty much be green all the time. From looking at rev6 at various times, there is no obvious 'off-peak' time, which leads me to believe that the bulk of the server spots are taken by bots.
What do you guys think?
For reference, red=full, yellow=crowded, green=not crowded.

bots banned.. or the bot companies stop making the bots?
if the bots were banned.. then servers would be dead. green 24/7
if the bot companies stop making bots.. then maybe it will be crowded at peak times... But never full

= probably... 100/3500 server spots...

Bots won't be banned, and bot won't cease to be made until the game is 100% run into the ground.

Now, hypothetically, if all the bots disappeared, the servers would be green 24/7. Exactly what they were immediately after the cap raise before the bots were back up again, and at that point, a lot of the botters [most of SRO's player base,] still logged on just to see what it was all about.

Question would just be for how long we'd have green 24/7 servers until JM would shut the game down. If SRO somehow managed to rid itself of botters, barely anybody would even bother playing, and thus barely anybody would buy silk.

Alot of people don't play BECAUSE of the bots. So that's a bit inaccurate.

Number of People that don't play because of bots < number of people that bot

I've had more friends quit because the grind got too heavy than because of the bots.

Why the hell do people think that SRO will die without bots? People are still gonna buy premiums with or without them around.

how does joymax sell so many prems?

1.because multi bot users buy them to connect
2.Botters use them to connect/xp
3.With servers green 24/7 people would just buy a 4 week gold ticket..

True, but you can't assume barely anyone would play or buy silk. Premiums and things like that weren't around in the beginning. So no one really knows for sure.

most botters would reroll..cuz if anything...they're more addicted to the game than the handgrinders

If all the bots disappeared, the servers were merged, JM cut the exp needed to level, add more content to the game than just FW/cape pvp/ctf/grinding, im sure some people who quit because of botters/not being able to login/too hard to level would come back...

Don't you realize that if bots were banned, other botters won't bot because they're not forced to enjoy the game by botting? They want to have fun, but they get sucked into it. But Im not supporting it, it is wrong.

If Joymax were to ban all of the bots. They'd initially lose money, but after a while more and more legits would start playing SRO and legits would start buying GT's. They'd have to close/merge half of the servers to help themselves save money. But after Silkroads popularity went back up they could reopen them.

So in the long run getting rid of bots would actually benefit Joymax. Because the way Silkroad is now, it probably won't last more then 2 years do to bots taking over and everyone going AFK = a dead game.

If that happened I'd be hooked on this game like a fat girl on myspace

if all bots disappeared i would probably walp around woth sun equip bcz all things would be 50% cheaper. and yea it would be fun playing sro then... now it's all based on who has the luck to enter crowded servers... i barely even go partying with my friend bcz we just can't enter all at the same time... ;(

no bots=the end of SRO, face it, the only reason this game hangs on is because of the complex relationship between Joymax profits and bots

any company that loses 50% of its profits will trash any project to save its shareholders from pulling out. so banning all botters = end of SRO
hence why Joymax will never stop bots

Everyone would be banned, and those that weren't would be so Farking bored they'd quit.

The game would be doing just fine without bots, they should get rid of like 15 servers at least though, the game did pretty good without item mall even.

People started botting, ppl quit, more ppl botted, ppl turned to botting, more ppl quit, more ppl botted, ppl start sro, ppl quit, other ppl don't even start because of it.


There would be plenty of ppl playing the game legitly, if they could.


As for what would happen now, if they were banned, the game would be pretty desolate, they should delete the characters and let the damn names be reused though for one, otherwise any new ppl that come would have 3453213 on their name.

If they were just not useable anymore, then the game would still suck, cept now legits have a chance to be on top. That is if they outlvl them, but then again who would want to with the way the game has been left.

ban bots> no profit> no money> no paper = save woods

the game will at some point burn it's self out.. with servers full all the time, the prems are a cash cow cose people don't want to get banned for botting and they want to lvl faster and have the extra stats(like anytime login)

that said new players cant login to the servers and they give up trying uninstall sro and move to a new game. at some point it will be pure bots not a real player for miles.. bots will stop buying prems and the game will die.

only way to fix that is get rid of the main problem.
gold bots(the gold sellers and the people that just multi client for gold), there is more gold bots then there is player bots and hand grinders combined

i know your going to say the player bots are the problem, and your right, but they are not the main problem. most of them buy silk, do trades, sell/buy items & so on.. they just don't hand grind.

this would open the servers to new players wile keeping the game alive.

that's true but JM share profit with gold bot companys so it will never happen. bigger chances r that JM will ban "grinding" bots that buy prem cuz thier profit from them is lower then profit from gold bot companys... anyway we could just hope that things will change in future... hope dies last...
