Simply, I have no time or patience to try and be occupied with leveling another char.
But I love my char (glaiver) so i don't want to quit SRO.. yet

i was the same i kept shifting from blader, nuker, bard, wiz, warrior god knows what else.
i finally narrowed it down to bard, warlock, nuker, warrior, blader.
then i took some time levelling each of those builds to like 20+ until i finally decided to stick to warlock since i found it most fun to grind with him(yes for solo grind i like my lock) and then it took me some more time to decide on cleric sub(im mostly getting this for pvp) im probably gonna pfarm a bard later wen this guy is finished
Now after i have decided on my main and sub i found it boring to just grind and even ctf doesnt always help to take it away(not to mention hardy any low lvls turn up to pvp outside jangan

) so right now i just log in for some days and i dont on others this keeps me going
(not to mention my RL workload has sky rocketed recently so i cant always play

)
well this is basically how i found and stuck to my char so dont worry if you have trouble deciding its all part of the fun

Well when i first started my char (glaiver) it pwned most builds (60cap) and had great survivability and fast grinding.
Then I got to somewhere 4x and started a Full INT spear nuker and got it to 4x too when I realised that I need to farm again and that spear nukers gets assraped in pvp most of the times (still 60cap). So I decided to continue on my glaive and did that (after i quitted for a couple of months) and finally capped at the 80cap.
Then i left sro again (I think i must've forgotten SRO totally since I missed when the Fortress was introduced and euro so it was quite I schock when I came back) and came back for the 90 cap and got capped and ... guess what... I quitted again.
Hopefully I will stay away from iSRO even thought they update to 100-cap. iSRO just plain sucks now.

Make at least one caped character and you wont changed it. I have bunch of 40-50 characters that I dont even count as characters.

Well, just try out some chars untill lv20 or something and see which you like best.
It was rogue & warlock for me. I really hate chinese imbues xD

It's really very personal.
I love xbow but don't like chinese bow nor chinese nukers even if they are probably better ranged attack builds. I like playing with xbow and it isn't boring to grind my way up.
I'm able to grind all the way till level 90 with that character. Just try the characters out and take the build you like most, don't stick at "the best build" posted in forums.

Just watch video's on youtube of your build.
Or check at DW south which you like best...
A friend of mine wanted to make an s/s int char, but he was afraid he'dd get owned by warriors (like me on that char) we went to dw south, and i won vs like 3 s/s int's, but the last one was a really good pvp

There are always good chars of every build, you just need to see the ones who play them to get motivated

I had the same problem, made every single character possible yet hated them all, except blader which I started out with way long ago.
Finally remade a blader (screwed up the first one of course lol) and I am really enjoying it. Plus when I can somehow outdamage a nuker on a giant, I know I pwn.

it's been what? 2years plus and you are still drifting and creating more characters than you can level? perhaps your joy in sro is really to create and enjoy new builds, never really to level them to the caps.

Well, don't read the guides when you start a new char, read them when you need some help choosing which skills & why you should take them(or why not).

My motivation to keep my char was to just see the flips, and jumps of a blader.
Now that I have my flips and jumps, I want to be the best tank there is

Here's how I started:
One of every build I would ever slightly desire.
I would get the standard skills, get to about level 42, and decide then if I liked the character.
(For characters that got awesome skills at, say, level 46, I would get to level 46 and decide then)
I really go by personal preference than what others like. It worked for me.

Friends keep me motivated. The desire to want to be better or stronger than my friends keeps me on one character.

PVP keeps me motivated...
I'm 84 now, and i keep thinking " Maybe if i get another level and use my 85 weapon, i may be able to win against the guy yesterday "...
Maybe when im 85, i will start thinking " probably the 86 shoulder may tip the balance between me and that guy "
Et cetra.

This is a common occurrence amongst many players...This very same thing happened to me..and for quite a long time too. I lvled and made so many and wasted so many time and silk on chars I later abandoned. It was kinda upsetting for me. My first char in 2006 was glavie then int hybrid bow. I hated how slow I was lvling then I made a pure int spear and love how it levels fast (got to 68) but then I hated how easy I died in trade runs and pvp. I finally settled on str bow and I am loving it. I just wished I did it sooner.
My motivation came from all the time and silk wasted on chars I later abandoned. I love bow from the start but back then they weren't so good at PVP as they are now. So I told myself no more time wasting..just sticking to one and take it all the way....BOW. Haven't made cap yet but its better this way.

same thing for me. Only reason i used to log into isro was to outlevel my party/guild mates or keep up with them. Once i couldnt, i started making new chars over again

I have no friends who still play sro :(
I really really love str warriors. I once got one to lv 5x but it was hacked and made murderer.
I just really cant seem to be able to stick to another warrior.

... you
could go to ecSRO because you'll lvl faster and go jobbing much more, but on the downside there is no Euro ---> No STR Warriors. However, there is always... STR GLAIVE
