How long have these "bon bans" been coming out and the servers were packed the next day? Doing the same thing and expecting something different is insanity. They have been doing these bans lists now since the game went live...but the bots are just coming back the next day. Does this make sense? And everytime a list comes out people say "OmG aTlEasT TeY Are TeRyinnG". BUT WHEN WILL IT STOP??? AM I THE ONLY SANE PERSON THAT PLAYS SRO? LOL. They can :

Enable GG
Switch to X-Trap (X-Trap is good about staying updated)
Hire more GM's (which WOULDN'T BE HARD WITH THE MONEY THEY ARE MAKING)
Come up with a script that detects repetitive actions (Idea from Cabal EU)

...And tons of other stuff

There was a time I paid for prem tickets for both accounts...but that will never happen again. I just wish people would wake up and do the same...then we could all see the true potential of SRO.

AM I THE ONLY SANE PERSON THAT PLAYS SRO? what do you mean by sanity? If by sanity you mean, saying you'll bot when things don't work out. Then sure, you're sane.

Enable GG GG sucks.
Switch to X-Trap (X-Trap is good about staying updated) Never heard of it, I'll look it up
Hire more GM's (which WOULDN'T BE HARD WITH THE MONEY THEY ARE MAKING) Their partner is making money, we have yet to see Joymax Ltd.'s yearly income
Come up with a script that detects repetitive actions (Idea from Cabal EU) Every action is repetitive in ISRO, a way-point tracker would be better.

...And tons of other stuff like?
then we could all see the true potential of SRO. It is to late for the old servers. To many lazy players.

Yeah..your sarcasm in the 1st little edit is nice. But thats really sane...thats probably the most sane thing to do. Both my higher lv chars on the older servers are fked. I should just login to one of the newer servers and bot up a char while I'm sleep/away. And ofc I would play by hand when I'm not doing either of those things. That would be the most sane thing to do. Handgrinding again on this game would be idiotic. I'd rather take the easy way out this time.

It's funny everyone on this site has such a hate for player bots. One thing you all fail to realize is that it's not the player bots causing the bulk of the problems. It's the goldbots. There are steps to take to deal with them...but JM refuses to do so.

Player bots are as much a problem as gold bots. If you have to make a distinction you would be better off going: Human Cheater VS Automated Farmer. The Automated Farmer would be inexistent without the Human Cheater, alas this is SRO. The Cheater thrives here because people would rather bend over backwards and submit. Weaklings, if you don't wish to do it again, then don't. Why not quit than add to the ongoing problem? It makes you a hypocrite, who has no right to demand bans from Joymax.

i think what he means is player bot may eventually progress and move on to something else, but goldbots won't leave because they love the gold too much

GG is horrible. It doesn't prevent anything, but old hacks from half a year ago.
X-Crap is well.. crap. You can snag it onto msn and it'll start searching msn for anything illegal and top it off you can turn it off.
Hire more GMs.. Mm.. Yeah that won't work because they keep quiting.
That would work, but the developers won't create it.

The only way any ideas of yours would work is if you move to Joymax's office in California and start working there.

Banning gold bots makes it less profitable for them and ends up making them leave for another game, if done consistently. Banning player bots, especially those willing to pay for a bot and thus premium items, means banning paying joymax customers. Either way works, seems like JM is being jewish about it. I'd ban both.

Actually player bots don't tend to buy gold as often. The majority of them end up gold farming if they run into trouble with money. Thats why its common to see lvl 80 farmed players at Niya archers.
Most people that buy gold tend to be the full suns (sometimes botters, other times not). Heres the difference, majority of the players that buy gold do not bot. However they claim to be legit. But they don't see how buying gold is not legit. Its the players that can't spend time grinding on low lvl mobs that don't bot that end up buying all the gold. These people are not legit, but they don't bot. In their little fantasy worlds this is legit because its not botting.

Im probably going to get flamed for this but whatever...

I've been lurking on these forums from time to time to check if situation in SRO has improved so much that I'd like to give this game another shot - so far I'm not impressed at all from Joymax actions to remove bots from their game. They've let it continue for several years now and bots have ruined in-game market on all servers. I think Joymax needs to do more drastic changes to their game.

What Joymax needs to do is:

    * Remove gold from loot tables from all monsters above level 15
      * This effectively cuts gold bots' income
      * To compensate lack of gold loot, increase Quest rewards
      * Make alchemy items almost worthless when selling to NPC shops (so that these don't become new "gold" items)
      * This forces players above level 20 to actually do Trade runs
      * More players will start do jobs and we get back what was suppose to be the main feature of this game -> Triangular conflict between Trader, Hunters and Thieves. The real life silkroad existed because of trading, SRO is currently lacking this totally as you can get more gold from just grinding
      * It will take months, maybe a year to get in-game market back on track.
      * (similar methods have been used in other MMOs to cut down credit amounts from in-game markets)

    * Track and record bot movement automatically in towns and auto ban them if they're using same paths every time
      * Currently anyone staying in towns can spot easily dozens of bot chars just by looking what paths they are using -> should be easy to program server to track these down too
      * Basically server records the points where character stops while in town and compares old list of points to the current one. If enough matches are found, server automatically increases "bot suspicion" for this character and once it's increased enough (say over 24h period) bot is automatically banned.
      * Several movement lists per character should be recorded so that bots can't bypass this by using different movement lists
      * This effectively bans player bots as well gold bots

    * Track and log all gold only transfers and suspend / auto ban those characters that get gold from x amount of different characters or give huge amount of gold to other players
      * This ensures that not only gold bots are banned but also those gold holding characters to which gold is transferred from the bots
      * Players who got gold from these gold holders can be banned too since it's clear that they have bought gold.
      * This kind of feature is currently working in Age of Conan (yes, I know it's not perfect but it's better than nothing)

    * Raise suspicion level on those characters that are online and grinding 24/7 (or even more than 8 hours a day)
      * These are most likely bots, might be players who grind normally during evenings and use bot when they sleep / go to school/work
      * If you're legit player, you won't be grinding 24/7

    * Choose completely new way to encode SRO's data to IP packets
      * Problem with the current IP packets is that bot makers know how it's compiled. If the data inside IP packets were made with different and new algorithms it could take months from bot makers to figure it out.

well i wasnt saying dont ban the goldbots :P. i was just saying, instead of banning goldbots (cuz they come back anyway), jm should look into the source of the problem ;)

dont worry i wont flame u ;). and yes, u are prolly right, most player bots just farm for their own gold, but im talkin about the ppl that dont. maybe when using multiclient, there computer runs very slow, so they buy gold. ofcourse, i know about the so called "goldbuying legits ( :P)", but there really isnt anyway to find out goldbuyers O.o

Joymax is doing a good job right now, and so what If bots create way faster than we can ban them, at least the stocks will decrease and gold bot company's will be gaining less of a profit than when they didn't do anything. Not as many ppl will buy gold if there isn't anymore for them to buy right? They will give up when they aren't making a profit IMO. JM just has to keep it going till then. I say, gold bots first, then player bots. Cause player bots<Gold bots as the main problem right now. Gold bots are being run by the hundreds by a few ppl.

JM seem getting good at banning the goldbots. They should continue at this rate and clean the servers of all these goldbots till those goldbot companies quit. Player bots will naturally be next. Bots are bots, no exceptions.

Completely right about everything except the last item. Does anyone remember when every time there was weekly maintenance, the bots would be gone for a day or so? IIRC, that amount of time kept going down and down until a matter of a few hours. The reason the bots were gone, is not cause they hadn't logged in, it's because the packet encryption was changed, and the bot maker needed to update. Thing is, they eventually started solving the encryption so fast, that it didn't matter that it happened anyways.
