SRO = 30mil registered users. Let's say 20mil buy silk.
20mil people, charging back an avg of $200 = 100,000 instantly taken from the company. (I know several people who have spent well over $1k, so the number's just a rough estimate.)
JM has around 200 employees totaled.

They'd go bankrupt before long, resulting in no SRo.

lol @ 30 mill number. 99.999% of them are gold bots.



id say around 150k REAL players are regestered for silkroad, less then 20k active at any given time with anywhere from 500k - 2 million active gold bots. add in all inactive gold bots + inactive player accounts over a period of 3 years, and thats where the 30 mill comes from.

now with that said, you can only chargeback on paypal up to 45 days of the purchase.

ban every single whiny botter, and you will lose around 18k players worth of income for a period of 2 months if ALL the bots chargeback. wont happen. kids dont chargeback. majority of sro botters are kids.

average silk spent by a player is $20 on a prem per month. thats $40 for every bot banned. banning all active bots wont hurt them 1 bit. they make back the money 2 months later...

True, but it is a Business.. Number 1 Goal is $$, not the satisfaction of players.. You might be saying what about WoW, they have great customer service!! Well they are mult-million dollar coroporation, who has the funds to do something about it, but as for Silkroad, its F2P, That company only relies on Item Mall which not everyone pays for.
Like you stated Only Couple Thousand ppl play.. So obviously the customer service is gonna be horrible.

And also to all the other people who say they will go bankrupt, WRONG, their main profit isnt from ISRO!! Mainly the tend to server the Asian population (Ksro,Csro,Jsro) if u havent notice how well kept these Silkroad games are kept.. u should of seen the 60 cap. 100% legit servers. 100% full all the time. server traffic was 10x worse then it is right now.

with the right management, they can fill the servers with legits and still have traffic to make people buy premium.

Well yes with the right managment, but they would actually lose money instead of gaining profit.
As you know Silkroad isnt mainstream, not alot of people know about it other than us Online Geeks .. They would have too advertise this to the International Crowd, which would cost money, they would have to bann all botters weekly or monthly which will cost money.. etc etc list goes on. I Highly doubt anything will be done about it.

What's to stop them banning the player and goldbots, then condensing the current servers with the leftover legits? Less maintenance costs for them and more income because people will see them doing something.

I think the best way to do now is implement a flagging bot system. If a bot is put flag, after 10 mins he doesnt remove it, his name will turn red. Then free kill

Anyways, I am sick and tired of people saying they are in the safe zone if they bot and buy silk. Every time there is a bot ban, I always get into that arguement.

But I guess I am dillusional to think that silk buyers don't get banned when numerous of my sro friends have been banned in the past and DID buy silk.

For that to work though, you'd need an auction house system like WoW, seeing you couldn't stall then. But JM said they wouldn't do that, so... *shrugs*

I agree but I personally think that they should just do a major bot ban, update and enhance GameGaurd, then combine all servers.

Not only does that cut down gold companies revenue but it also makes it easier for Joymax to locate and distinguish bots. If you cut down the servers to say maybe 5 you can have more control, since I assume isro is understaffed. And besides, I doubt there are enough real people to fill 30 servers. 5 should do.

I think I said something similar to that before, that a lot of people would buy silk because JM is actually doing something. While chargeback from player bots would cause a small revenue loss in the here and now, the potential gain from it would be much greater.

All they do is use a login script, and bot. Even if they DID buy silk, they would be capped in 2 months, while a legit chinese takes longer = more silk.


Banning botters will infact make more money for Joymax, 90% of the bots are stupid dumbshits. They wont chargeback, they'll just restart their chars and bot more, buy more silk. Its like a farm, once the crops are grown, reap what you sow, and then plant the seeds again.


Ban bots, after they just bought 1000 silk to get a 100 silk bonus, then ban their accounts. Now they gotta spend $100+ on a new account, after they cant use their 1100 silk they just bought. GG....

CCF ran rampant, people would make new accounts with 874982742 CCF'ed silk to sell astral. Where do you think all these sos 64 +7 or even +9 weapons came from?

If you ban all the botters and gold bots the server will have less than 500 people on. Joymax will still have to pay for the cost of 30 servers. Less funds = little servers. Little servers = less people. Less people = less funds. There won't be an increase in income if they ban them.

Do you think they would consider banning players who got power leveled by a bot for a while? If so, then hardly any "legit" players would remain in the server, for Olympus at least. Donwhang Cave, Taklamakan, Karakoram, all I see is a taxi following a bot. I'm just wondering if they would ban those players as well.
