Online games have traditionally been marketed towards young men, but I think that's slowly changing. And that's a good thing. I was in a guild in Guild Wars and we had a female member. She plays a mean Ranger and she's a very competent Monk. She has an unmistakable feminine voice and when she gets on teamspeak there's usually a sudden chorus of male voices going, "It's a chick!"

I actually printed that first one out. I am in a computer class where 90% of the people here are males, all play wow. One female in class who also plays wow, so that is pretty funny to them as well xD

a lot of people in Kodomo are Girls. and we've had a lot of female former members. Of course this only furthers the sterotype that girls love children but it's true ("Kodomo" means Children)
As for me, i prefer female chars in offline games and male chars in online ones. Char more or less reflect players personality so it may be quite confusing when a guy plays female or vice verse Anyway it happened once when two my guild members (a girl and a guy in real life) were talking in guild chat window about their relationship and other members who were online shouted "omg wtf g@yz! thiz guild is all g@y!". So REAL female players are not actually common to sro community

When I started playing online games (it was Runescape) I answered the question "Are you girl?" (some also write gurl) always with "yes".
Got 2 reactions:
1. A kind of quiz about my privacy started
2. I was called a liar
It is the same in Silkroad, so now my answer about gender and age and so on is "Sorry to personal", than they call me a stupid 13 year old boy and I just go away and smile.
The ones from guild and union who have spoken to me in our teamspeak got a surprise in some cases

Yea it might not be good to do that, but as I said, that other one wouldn't work either.
