The icon on the right is the jobtemple icon. if you click on it you can see how the thiefs vs hunters doing in the job temple. (once you hit 105 you get that thing there)

about the glow: they are nova immortality items. your head and shoulders will glow. they are very strong, but very very expensive and hard to get.

Actually, u were. I see they have put the Avoid mobs too close to the statue recently and some statues only have 2 or 3 of them. There should have been an Avoid mob at the spot u died at.
