im not in venus either as apparently (dont flame me ffs im just saying what ive heard) the legits there can be asholes too and call low lvls noobs rather then helping them out (and no i dont mean plvl lol)

I've actually found people to be quite helpful in Venus. I've had people help me out with equipment loans, advice on various character build questions, and the like. I try to help people where I can. I can't do much in the way of equipment loans, or giving away gold (although I would) since I'm a low level here, but if nothing else, I do stall other people's equipment for them if they don't/can't take the time to do it themselves, and then of course give them the gold back for their equipment sale. Sometimes I take a cut, if they offer it, but I never expect it.

PR0METHEUS is a great guy. Would be nice if you could figure out Vent. But alas, I cannot have everything...

It would be nicer if more people didn't put greed at the top of their priorities list, especially in a game. It's surprising (still, I don't know why it is that way) that some people will throw away their friendships in pursuit of something that doesn't really exist.

Yes, I've not been a stranger to this kind of generosity, nor have I been absent from its presence. I've given away gears and items, done alchemy for people for free, and I've had people give me gears, etc for free.

However, it would be nice if people helped each other out more, but then again sometimes those whom you help don't EVER return the favor. I've come across this type time and time again. I go a bit out of my way to stop whatever it is I'm doing at the time to go help, at that time I don't ask for anything, but down the road when it's me who needs the helping, the answer goes unanswered around 80% of the time. It's disheartening, but I guess you gotta learn to take the bitter with the sweet. Which takes to my next point: not everyone's going to be a saint and just drop whatever it is they're doing and come help, or just handover something. Some people are just natural a**holes. Just learn to live with those people being ever present.

Thanks. The difficulty with Vent is, I run it under Linux, and it's a Windows application. It runs fine for the most part, except the lack of microphone support. I probably just need to enable the microphone in Linux itself first. I just never had the time to look into that. Probably something as simple as checking a box for 'enable microphone' in a dialog somewhere (outside vent)

There didn't seem to be nearly as much of a bot problem back when I started playing around the 60 cap (maybe start of 70 cap). Then botting became popular. The community (in general) got the attitude of "who cares, let them bot". Joymax just gave the community what they wanted, IMHO. A majority of the community seemed to want to bot, so Joymax let them have what they wanted and it got out of hand.

Now they are starting to crack down on it. Is it a coincidence that Joymax started these regular bot bans around the time that SRF's mod team started cracking down on 'closet botters' in our forums (about the most popular unofficial SRO forum mind you)?

Seems to me Joymax generally just operates in a way that would please the most people (or try to). People want bots, they let it happen. People want to drive them out, Joymax starts driving them out. Let's hope they continue down this road <3

The only thing i see them really driving out is goldbots which is great. Yes there is an ocasional player bot as well but less goldbots = less server traffic so go JM keep banning those gold bots.

Thanks. I'll have to check that out. I don't use KDE, so I'm not sure if some of those tools are KDE-only, but same idea anyway.

Even if I get it working, I probably won't be on vent all that often anyway. Usually when I'm playing, my daughters are in bed for the night and I try to be quiet to not wake them up. I'll have to come on sometime to say hi if I can get it working.

Oh and the only rule was Pickup Pets were NOT allowed. Did that every day for a long time. Noobs always pming me "is the stall game tonight?" lol good times.
