In the US people get sued for racism (despite the first amendment). People sue McDonalds when their coffee is to hot, XD. I wouldn't be surprised if some disgruntled resident of California decided to sue JM for "lag", XD and US courts would let it in! LOLOLOL. Gotta love the AMERIKAN Legal system.

Remember that you are not forced to purchase anything in the game, a player can reach cap without Silk at all; you have the choice to purchase Silk if you want or not. Its not like Joymax is standing there, holding you at gunpoint forcing you to make Silk purchases.

The first amendment does not protect all forms of speech and hate speech is certainly not protected. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the freedom of speech is governed by its time, place, and manner.
The woman that sued McDonald's only sought a settlement to pay for her medical bills. She suffered 3rd degree burns to her lap which caused permanent skin damage (not too mention its probably the most excruciating area of the body to have burned). The coffee was not only hot but it was far above the enforced standard we now have today thanks to the court ruling. After McDonald's continued to deny record of incident reports from customers concerning coffee burns they were subpoenaed and more than 700 documents which contained claims of burn incidents were discovered. McDonald's lied and was forced to pay PUNATIVE damages. The JURY decided the settlement, which was in far excess of the original medical bill, and she ended up giving most of it to charity.

They're in Korea, the only part of there company in the U.S. is there server databases and maybe a support/PR company that can speak in English.
The only MAJOR lawsuits the U.S. brings other countries is with piracy and even then they come in conflict of the laws in both countries.

BladeSkillz wrote:In the United States there is a law that prohibits companies from using a Bait and Switch tactic to hook in customers, providing them with the false idea that they will get a good deal on an item that is no longer in stock.
An example is say a 52'' plasma screen TV on sale 75% off but there are only 2 in stock and get sold immediately. People come in the rest of the day ready to purchase the TV but since there are no more they end up buying something else since they feel they came for nothing. The store owner intentionally only has 2 in stock so that he doesn't lose money and at the same time makes profit off of the people that came in wanting the TV but decided not to leave empty handed. THIS IS ILLEGAL!
This example can be applied to what Joymax is doing. They offer a "free" game to attract people but offer very limited slots on their servers so that you are forced to pay money to log in. It's a Bait and Switch tactic used to lure customers in and end up paying for what should have been free. It's very similar to false advertising.
Well ok, straight up... The U.S. has no jurisdiction over Korea and thus case-- Joymax. And I am in no way a supporter of Joymax's acts but I'm just here to correct your thoughts. You're looking at it the wrong way as you're ignorant to the laws(and you are also making yourself a propaganda to make people believe what you wrote). When world online games over the internet were released. The original law of world interaction was co-signed allowing free play, and pay to play(it's all written in every online game's User Agreement(UA) or Terms of Service(ToS) or any agreement that is to be read before signing up for the game... So you my friend, must've not read through the ToS of Silkroad before signing up for it. Joymax's Silkroad Online is a free game indeed. Just there are side non-benefactors that remove the 'free' part of the game from the picture. Players purchasing their virtual products are players that are willing to do it. No one is forcing anyone to buy it. And in the end, it some how ends up being a propaganda. No contradictions, no faults, all personal to that person or player. Unlike yourself, I enjoy the game, not the service. Playing a game without a Game Master or liaison is something many players had to get used to, so you might as well catch up with the rest of us.
This was not a flame...

Re: What Joymax is doing is ILLEGAL.
The only thing I can complain on, is that there is no communication between players/gms.
The only place you can actually get help from them, is their forums. Actually, you dont get helped there either, your posts are just ignored, as far I've seen. Also, I never see administrators in game. Other games, have admins online , so they can monitor things live.
Would be awesome-o to have a way to report something in game. You enter the complaint, you enter the players full name and the online admins see the concern. "This guy has been botting here for ages" Admin looks at the report and teleports to the person.
Silkroad fails at that part.

Re: What Joymax is doing is ILLEGAL.
Bait and Switch, illegal? not really, if so, Walmart would have been out of business ages ago, look in their stores and see how all thier deals are arranged, how they set up their marketing.
Yes, iSRO is run by Yahoo! Korea, they also own and run kSRO, other versions are ran by other private companies that paid for the license in thier respective countries. Our version has a base here in the United States, but it is completely ran and maintained in Korea. Go ahead and sue them, but applying U.S. law to a company which runs it's servers and recieves it's profits in a foreign country would most likely result in complete failure. But 'eh, there was a fat bitch that sued McD's for making her fat, so you might get it in a court room I suppose.
Btw, that fat bitch lost the legal dispute. ;]
if you hate the company so much, and if you want to sue them so badly, quit the game and spend thousands on a legal dispute you are bound to lose. JoyMax has supplied a free game, and it is the players that are filling it up with botters.

sorry i really have to point out how ignorant what you just said was.
Lets take the legal definition of stealing
In the criminal law, theft (also known as stealing) is the illegal taking of another person's property without that person's freely-given consent.
Now lets take your little scenario and see if it fits that definition
You chose to buy silk, or else joymax hasn't received your money. No product, no money, simple right? Now first of all i emphasize the term chose. You had the choice to buy silk, no one said you had to. You made the conscious and willing decision to go "im gonna increase my gaming experience by buying silk". You payed for a good willing and you were provided with that good. The exchange was a legal transaction and the process of buying complete. Joymax received money and your account received silk. The exchange for product and a sufficient variable was completed.
Now it cant be theft when you chose to buy it, right? That ruins your argument there.
Also you can connect, just because it takes a while it doesn't mean it cant be done. Dont confuse laziness with impossibility.
