OMG ppl can't we all just get along???

YES the situation totally suX with a capital X but what's done is done.
MAYBE the Fly char is gone... but I can tell you this much...

The "person" I call Fly is still here and regardless of his rln or ign... he is and will always be *God_Of_Xian*
It is not the look or the build of the char but the personality behind it... and he did create a char that owned just about everyone of you, so I dont think there will be a problem with him doing it again (this will give him something to do instead of being capped and waiting)
YES some time, effort, and maybe even some invested cash is now lost but look at it this way... your house burns to the ground while you stand outside huddling together with your family trying to keep warm while watching it all disappear... does life end here??? NO! you hold on to your family tighter... because what does not kill you... WILL make you stronger. What exists between the members of Avalon (especially between nb and fly) is not something that can be touched be a hacker. Tear us down... but we will rebuild and be stronger then before.

As for the "he said, she said - haha your hacked" drama... let it go already... If my worst in-game enemy got hacked... I truely would feel bad... it is a loss we can all feel when we think it could have happen to anyone... I think it is wrong to flame anyone, even an in-game rival, when they express condolences. let's just shut up and play already!

all my in-game enemies, you could say, are botters so I really wouldn't be sorry to see any of em go out like that. but yeah after hearing about this I guess it really can happen to anyone **runs to change password** :shock:

banned or hacked for botting is one thing... its like some sick justice... but being true and pure and having that a happen is just not right

Well Hopfully you see that we really are not mean people by flamming this thread, unlike nightbloom/Fly/Foilin did when we lost CornDog....

One thing i would like to clear up . 99.99% of what people call "hacking" isn't a hack at all its just some viscous lil worm putting 2 and 2 together untill they finally get 4 .

What happend to Fly is what has happend to many others before him and it is 100% joymax's fault . Let me explain.

For some unknown and completly asanine reason the have us use the same info for our login to the game and there forum. Just like a previos poster said if you post there when you are quoted your true ID comes up. Even if this were not the case phbb is weak and anyone with basic knowledge can break it and get your ID anyway but that isn't what is happening here. What happens is with your ID they then do what is called a dictionary attack it's a proggy that enters everything in the dictionary untill it hits if it dosent it will go back thru and start to enter numbers at the end of words for example teflon001,002,003,004,005 etc and so on.

Thats why it is of vital importance to use a strong password . I know for a fact i have been targeted i was even told by a kid who forced someone on my server that he and his friends would not stop untill they got my account i just laughed at them ,and here is why.

Strong passwords :hackth1s749g.....1mpo55ibletoha7k12....2oosma7t4you

Weak passwords: godofwar sroqueen bobschar bond007 iamasexy1

and the obvios one like useing your chars name as a pass or that of someone you are known to hang with or useing your sign stuff like that you dont even need to brute you can just guess it.

If you notice that you fall under the weak PW category change it ASAP for i fear there is a group that is doing this daily . I truly dont think they are hacking into the database directly it's very difficult and very risky you would have to go thru the same backdoor joymax uses to inject updates and there is what i would call for lack of a better word an alarm on that door .

Sorry to see such thing happen to a legit player. There are other who deserve to be hack.

Is the account fullly hacked, as in everything is gone Secret PW and everything, there might be hope yet, also check the silk history in the case that they do ccf on that account to have it perm remove. Of the thousand botter/ccfer/gold farm yet a legit person who work for his char got hack. THis suck real bad.

even more scary is the change password system.

You need acct id - easily obtainable from the forum
Then you need email address - if a bulletin board has been compromised or if someone feigns friendship (hey let me send you some pictures, what's your email address?)
Now comes the secret question, many people did something stupid like your country, or something like that. If you talk to people its easy to get that info, and some people even post it in the forums like in the who are you or where are you from threads.

Sadly you can't change anything about your secret question, but you can change your email address. I recommend setting up a special yahoo/hotmail or whatever address just for SRO and using that.

jk, Fly and I spend most of the day on Vent, he knows Im a girl.

As for meeting irl... I hold no illusions. Those things very rarely work out. Fly is my perfect partner in game, my fantasy hero. Why ruin that with a real life meeting? I think we are both content with our relationship as it is.
