just because the video card is new does not me you will not have any problems.. there is always a chance you will get a faulty card or for that matter any part.

they could be any number of problems if the card is failing. bad connection from the chip to the heat sync, bad part on the card. could be drivers as well. if you buy a new part and it starts to fail when it should not, return it.
also my rig cost about $1200 cad.

graphic cards are ment to handle the heat it gives off if everything it working just fine. mine has gone threw hell and back but works perfectly fine. what could be wrong with yours is you have a virus or something is clogging your cpu power. try using ccleaner and jk defrag should help alot.

Edit: was meant for Mirosuke

-Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit)
-Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 ghz
-3gb DDR3 ram
-ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
-750 GB HDD
-ViewSonic 24' widescreen monitor (1920x1080 resolution)

Uhm, I don't know what else I could say. Motherboard is some cheap gateway shit. I'm planning on getting another 4850 to run crossfire, or just completely upgrade the card up to the 4870x2.

by no means did i say anything about being poor.. like i said it took me a wile to save up the money to get what i wanted.. they may not be the cheapest parts, but you get what you pay for.. you can make a rig for like $500 that will play just about any game but when your cheap power supply frys your whole system you will wish you did not cheap out

Your Mobo has very little effect to how your gaming goes. As long as it has a PCI E 16x slot it can run a 250 or any other card on the market for that matter.

Btw, noobies questions. When you guys talk about Power Supply.. you mean case itself?
Edit: Well i think not, its what it has inside, that gray box. Right?

Does the more ram, the faster my pc will be?
And what about the fans? I see people having mroe than needed fans a pc will require.
That means will i need it more too?
Should i get a SSD? lol Looks promising.

@miro

Power supply is located inside the case usually in the upper back corner. Gives power to all your computer and has a switch on the back along with the main cable going into an outlet. Measured in Watts, most computers have..400++ watt PSU.

RAM is random access memory....easiest way to learn about it is google. Essentially 1-2 GB ram is all you need to make your computer 'faster'. Adding more and going to 4gb++ doesn't make it faster in that sense.

SSDs (solid state disks) are the future of hard drives..or so I think. Problem right now is they are really damn expensive. Prices have been plummeting over the past few months though. I wouldn't bother getting one until they settle in as the norm for PC space.

So, About the power supply "the better, the... what?".
I think i have a cheap one (it came with the case >_<) so, i'm thinking to change it as fast as possible.

Well, about the RAMs, i see people having 8gb+ :banghead:
It's because they do many task at the same? So it will run faster with that amount of ram?

What about the fans? :P I think i edited to late my post.

And SSD... Yeah, i think.

Oh btw, Damn Azilius. I wonder where's the "Thank You" Button. Srsly.

Re: Graphic settings & PC specs (56k stay away)

Post by Azilius »

You'll only need a 'bigger' power supply if your parts demand more power. Like if I were to buy a brand new graphics card that required '600W minimum' I'd need a 600W or higher power supply.

I have 8GB of ram as well but only because I saw 4GB on sale for 23$ and couldn't pass it up. Most people will never use over 3-4 unless they feel the need to open..every single program they have at once. heh. RAM stores 'random memory' that the computer can access at any time, so if I opened SRO it might store a few things SRO related so the computer can access them quickly. More programs running means more ram, but really 2-4GB is plenty for most.

Fans are always nice to have but only needed if your computers temperatures are high. Higher temperatures generally mean your parts will degrade faster. You can google 'speed fan' and download that to check your temps. When it hit summer in Canada I was pretty much forced to buy 2 more fans because all my temps were so high >< Google can also answer what your temperatures should be around if you know your PC parts. CPU-Z can aid you in what parts you have =p

Guess we kind of derailed this hardcore >.> oh well.

SSD is much smaller and more expensive (atleast from what i have seen). it would be nice for the OS but for saving everything i would use a normal HDD. one thing about the SSD is its harder to break due to no moving parts.
