I think people are getting the wrong idea about the whole "you cheat in a game you'll cheat in real life" thing. I don't think it's that if you cheat in an easy thing such as SRO, it definitely means you'll most likely cheat at things in real life; think it's more along the lines that if you're willing to cheat at a game, it makes people start to question as to "if" you'll be more likely to cheat at something in real life.

Yes, cheating in a game and cheating at things in real life aren't directly comparable, however, it can speak truth about your character as a person.

Hmm i guess i'll throw in my 2 cents.

Just remember that the servers do actually have a level cap, so even if people do bot to level 100 & be fully farmed it's only a matter of time before "legits" get to that point aswell, whether they're hardcore gamers or just casual. Sure it'll take awhile but does it really matter? i'm pretty sure it's not so bad that you can't have fun at lv 20 or 30 or whatever, I've seen people partying at crabs, seungs, chakjis & other mobs (actually partying not botting or getting plvled) which is pretty much 1 one of the main points to this game. Like someone mentioned before iSro is a virtual world where thousands of people can meet up, socialise, become friends, grind together, job together, create their own little mini games (like i use todo in my guild & i know of others that do it aswell) & more. Getting to the cap & having the best stuff isn't everything, and i think we've all forgotten that.

Ah btw gold botting & player botting is not the same to some extent. I know where you are coming from with that point though. The main difference between the 2 is that gold botted chars very rarely take part in pvp or job wars, with the exception of those that buy a gold botted char to have as their main, which i've seen happen a few times during my Oasis days.

Hmm if they cut down on the 3rd party programs, as in get rid of auto logins, loaders, chat macros, multi clienting & goldbots and have a "legit" - botplayer ratio of about 60% - 40% or 50 - 50 i doubt we'd have that much of a major problem.

I think i'll stop there, getting to tired to write up more stuff.

If it was 2AM, you were in the middle of nowhere and you come to a stop sign. Would you run the stop sign knowing you won't get caught? Or would you stop because the laws say to.

That doesnt work as a comparison. Running a stop sign in the middle of the night doent affect another person. Botting does. Botting is more like stealing a coke from coke machines... then telling all your friends how to do it. So some guy starts selling the secret to free cokes to everyone they see at the coke machine for 10 cents instead of the 50 cents they would be paying. Then they all do it until people who are OK with paying for their coke fair and square cant get a coke anymore unless they are lucky. You dont get caught stealing a coke and neither does anyone else. The guy who owns the machines tries little tricks to keep you from stealing cokes, but there is a flaw in his machine that you are exploiting and he isnt willing to replace every single one. Eventually he says "f*ck this bullsh*t" and will move on to candy machines and you will be responsible for killing the entire coke machine business, except for a couple people who figured out how to copy the original machine and can keep a closer eye on it, cause instead of 40 machines like the original, they just have one but they cant make it interesting, its just the same three cokes forever.

I guess if you are a selfish person, you can say, it doesnt matter cause you can do it and no one can catch you. Besides, everyone is getting free coke except for a couple old fashioned people anyways, right? I mean, its just a coke.

Well, the thing with SRO is that you can still play. Sure you won't get the endless hours of fun grinding, but you can still "play" by running around killing ppl for fun, FW, etc. Also, playing is a personal opinion, if someone wanted, they could consider "playing" as just logging on.

yeah but that's basicly playing any game and skipping straight to the final boss, in which case you not only haven't enjoyed most of the game but you don't even know how to play correctly.

Cept in this game, the parts in the middle is unbelievably repetitive and pointless. Quests give you shit most of the time, most ppl just end up running off somewhere and grinding for months for sp. Dunno about you, but pvping and fighting a boss is wayy more epic than killing the same normal mob day after day for enough sp to use 1/30 new skills when you u lvl up.

Nice postings. But something all of you aren't seeing is that in a game like this that is packed with botting both gold and player bots, nearly everyone one of us are guilty of benefiting from botting. Legits can stand proud all they want but their hands are bloody too (indirectly).

A friend ever gave u gold? ..ever took your gold and bought that nice SOX weapon?. Chances are that gold and weapon was found by botters or bought from bot companies. Now your gonna say "Well I never bought anything or took anything knowing that it was illegally obtained". But think about it. 90-95% of chars in this game are directly/indirectly involved in either gold buying or botting or getting items and gold from known botters. And yet you took/bought these things anyways.

Thats like going into an underground black market to buy stuff and hoping that the stuff you bought wasn't stolen while knowing that 95% of the items sold there are indeed stolen. Saying I personally never pulled the trigger but I ordered a subordinate to do it doesn't excuse you

Problem is it's silly to think you can play the game without doing this. Unless you're going to keep a list of 'legit' players and only buy from their stalls..It's beyond our control. The % who do buy gold is probably higher than those who don't. Not buying from these people will have no effect and that's what counts.

How is a game not real life? Is football real life? Those people are gaming in a physical sense and online gamers are gaming in a mental sense. Both are still playing a game. It is still you and your moral fiber that make your decisions as you decide this mob or that mob, start the bot or take the high road. You cant seperate gaming and say it has no bearing on who you are and what kind of person you are. Botters always sound like alcoholics to me when they make excuses for bad behavior, like under the influence of botting means you arent you and not responsible for your decisions. Just because I cant look you in the face while you steal from me doesnt mean it's OK to do it.

Like Ryoko, I dont play. Bots stole Silkroad from anyone who had a desire to play as a real person, who enjoyed the achievement of grinding and gaining levels legitimately.
