At least what I said was based on my own observations and while that observation doesn't speak for the entire WOW community it does speak the truth for the amount of teenagers I've "seen" loving it for its childlike qualities..

The "childish" graphics are the only downside of WoW, and it's the only argument I've seen people use as to why WoW might not appeal to them. If you'd look through the graphics, which really aren't as horrible as you make it out to be, you'll find it is an incredibly good and balanced game, with shitloads of content. Something SRO has always lacked.. the pvp sucks, it's just a button bash frenzy.. the grinding is horrendours, the quests.. don't get me started. And the job system Silkroad likes to promote so much, is just lol...

You might find it ironic that even though in your mind WoW attracts more "kids", the level of maturity in WoW is so much higher than it is in SRO... once you've experienced both for a really long time, you'll know

I'll assume you mean cape PVP. There's at least some skill involved in that 'button bashing' if you learn to use the right skills at the right time, or if you're group PVPing. I guess the idea of cape PVP isn't that great, but it'd probably be better...
- if everyone (of all levels) didn't insist on all PVPing in the same location, right outside of town.
- if people didn't abuse the safe zone trying to make others murderer.
- if capped or near capped players didn't run around 1-hitting low levels over and over just for "fun".
- Wouldn't it be better to PVP with some friends in some other location where random people couldn't bother you?

It'd be different in something like say a fortress war or guild war. The whole point is for your side to win, so kill everyone repeatedly.

The grinding is horrendous...
Some people hate the grind. Others like it, or even love it. I personally like grinding. Sometimes it gets monotonous, but I then move to another mob, or change my grind pattern a bit (rogue xbow to daggers, or blader tanking as much as I can vs 1 on 1 PVE and the like).

The quests...
It's at least something to do while grinding to have a more immediate goal I suppose. Sure, the quests could be better, but some of the quests in other MMOs aren't that great either. I don't mind most of the SRO quests. If I find one I dislike, I abandon it. No big deal

The job system...
I do like the old job system better, but I think if more people participated in the job system, at all levels, it could be a lot better. I personally don't participate because I'm so inactive, if I jobbed, I'd never level because I'd probably die a lot. Besides, I usually only play for about an hour at a time. That's probably not much time by the time you get a job party going.

Let's stop this trivial skirmish now that we're still on page two before it erupts to another one of the countless SRO vs WoW threads. (I apologize for contributing) This is Silkroad Forums. It's expected for most of its players to prefer it over other MMOs. If you want to have a debate on WoW vs SRO, there's ~12 million players out there. One of them might be willing to take you on, but it's not going to be me. Not in the mood for it. With that, I leave my Captain Obvious statement:

I do like the old job system better, but I think if more people participated in the job system, at all levels, it could be a lot better. SRO has so much potential that it doesn't get a chance to use. It's almost sad. They need a way to fix some of the issues while keeping their huge population. although most pop is bots, there is still and easy 20K Legits.

You pull a straw man from your lack of reading comprehension. Where did I say or imply that a person cannot make claims of accuracy if he/she is part of the survey? I'll reword my previous post for you: You do not have to be part of the survey to say it is accurate (or not). You, on the other hand, claim that it is ignorant to reference and claim the accuracy of a survey even if the person is not part of it.

That is not true. People do it everyday. Authors, researches, even scientists use other people's surveys (even if they were not part of it) as references to guide their observations or interpret their results. Hell, access a scientific paper right now! I guarantee you, there will be tens, even hundreds, of references that are from other experiments or surveys that the paper's writers were never part of.

I played Wow, GW, AoC and many others but silkroad will always be the game that i come back to. i aswell hate joymax but they make great game that u have to love no matter what. it's not graphicly improved since the begining, it's bugy but it's still the best god damn MMO in the world atm....

If joymax made euros and didn't make chinese at all. SRO would be equally as fun as WoW. It would require the exact same "teamwork" that WoW requires. Anyways, joymax is working hard on implementing things to do at cap. Look at medusa and roc. Roc itself doesn't die (wait till we get, fun funfunfunnnn), Medusa takes over an hour, and there's 6 mini uniques. Don't tell me that's not the same as a raid on WoW.

Things JM could do to fix capped boredom:

Fix guildwars.

More fortresses, and once every 3 days instead of every 2 weeks. (Change time duh)

Make reverse oblation/immolation not usable during FW or GW, this would make people want to GO to the wars more.

Fix nosuit buffing/ressing, and make level 85 or 90 trade animals.



Most of which could be fixed with about 5minutes work programming. I'm against WoW and it's social life destroying crap. People say SRO's bad like that, oh god, WoW is infinitely worse.

PS: Yes, I've played WoW. I've had a level 10 account (LOL), but I've played a friends higher level account (6X), still bored. Not to mention the UI is ridiculous.

Gotta play more than that to experience the real teamwork that is required. SRO doesn't even come close, even with Euros.

I totally agree with OP and i really hope that one day Joymax will realize this themselves, listen to experienced players and make the game 100% free of bots and full servers. I've also played many many other mmo's, many of them are quite exiting and fun to play, but not as good as silkroad, but i don't know any other game, that has such precentage of botting per player etc. Neither do i know any other company, who would ignore day after day of suggestions from players.
I mean, how hard would it be to get like 10 GM-s per server, who have insta ban abilities. Or someone who would use our ban request threads to ban botters etc. Also, the anti hacking program ( whatever it is called and starts up before the game ) does absolutly nofthing. I'm sure that if they used a proper anticheat program, botters had more trouble finding working hacks, and the hack makers would have more trouble making one. Also, a few spotters surfing around the web, searching for hacks, and then either trying to shut the site down/ delete the file, or dl the file and instantly program the anticheat program to make itself immune to that hack. None of these ideas would be hard to do, and would reduce the hackers/botters to scratch.

Everyone should just GIVE UP their hopes that Joymax will improve. They will improve, but only if legit people PAY them more money than bots to. Currently they are cashing in a lot more from bots, so why ban them?
Joymax wants to milk out every single dollar from Silkroad.

I would still be playing actively if Euro parties didn't die out at the time I grind or I could find a nice spot to grind solo does not happen on Xian move servers why most everyone I know still on Xian. Now most everyone I know on WOW much happier able to grind when and where I want and cheaper too. In the 5 months before the cap I got fed up with all the bots and lack of grinding areas. If you still have fun good for you once I stopped having fun time to move on.

What server Ire? My GF finally got me started on WoW.

And to all the WoW flamers WoW costs less to play than SRO(you can't log in to play SRO even if it is free. Need to have a premium to get in and experience the crappy service) the PVP is worlds above SRO(not only is it not button mashing you also have to watch how far away you are and which direction you are facing. It could mean death). Instances etc blow SRO away. Crafting and alchemy system lol SRO is pitiful. The only down side is as some have said that the player models by "todays" standards etc are rather simplistic. You would be surprised how little you notice it if you actually get started and play it. I used to swear by SRO. But not anymore. There is a reason the forum owner plays WoW. There is a reason the main administrator was playing it at least for a while as well. SRO with alot of tweaking has great potential that will never be realized. WoW has great potential and I am not gonna obsess that all my pixels are not just so. Game is nice.

SRO is not all that. Perfect World Blows SRO out of the water graphically. I mean it is jaw dropping compared to SRO. The gameplay is awesome and the territory battles are nice. And there are events all the time. PK system there rox as well. Oh and it is truly free and no bots. I missed trading etc but it was a small thing.
