I hate ignorance. Many people incorrectly assume that online gaming is something that appeals only to teenage boys, but only 25 percent of MMORPG players are teenagers. According to some demographic surveys of WoW Players, the average player age is 28. Not too surprisingly, 84 percent of players are male and 16 percent are female. But female players tend to be older, with an average age of 32.

You hate ignorance? Then hate yourself for regurgitating someone else's survey of which you weren't apart of to claim how accurate it is while you sit there posting it like its gospel truth.
At least what I said was based on my own observations and while that observation doesn't speak for the entire WOW community it does speak the truth for the amount of teenagers I've "seen" loving it for its childlike qualities..

But, It's the same in principle as most MMO's. So he may not be going on baout that really :\

Prophet Izaach wrote:(or any survey for that matter) is not a requirement to make any claims of accuracy. You just need a credible source. By the looks of it, Bob Larkin's claims far outweighs your mediocre observations by your pitiful anonymity.

(I apologize for contributing) This is Silkroad Forums. It's expected for most of its players to prefer it over other MMOs. If you want to have a debate on WoW vs SRO, there's ~12 million players out there. One of them might be willing to take you on, but it's not going to be me. Not in the mood for it. With that, I leave my Captain Obvious statement:
Gameplay > Graphics

PR0METHEUS wrote:The job system...
I do like the old job system better, but I think if more people participated in the job system, at all levels, it could be a lot better. I personally don't participate because I'm so inactive, if I jobbed, I'd never level because I'd probably die a lot. Besides, I usually only play for about an hour at a time. That's probably not much time by the time you get a job party going.

There's nothing to apologize for. Stupidity reeked so bad from you (and believe me it still does) it was hard to avoid it.BuDo wrote:"Being part of a the survey" is not a requirement to make any claims of accuracy? You pull a straw man from your lack of reading comprehension. Where did I say or imply that a person cannot make claims of accuracy if he/she is part of the survey? I'll reword my previous post for you: You do not have to be part of the survey to say it is accurate (or not). You, on the other hand, claim that it is ignorant to reference and claim the accuracy of a survey even if the person is not part of it.
That is not true. People do it everyday. Authors, researches, even scientists use other people's surveys (even if they were not part of it) as references to guide their observations or interpret their results. Hell, access a scientific paper right now! I guarantee you, there will be tens, even hundreds, of references that are from other experiments or surveys that the paper's writers were never part of.
You implied that most WoW players are "kids or young teenagers" who love it for its "childlike qualities" - based on your observation. However, you even admitted yourself that it "doesn't speak for the entire WOW community", yet you still cling to your generalization?
Then .curve posts a survey as an evidence against your anecdotal observation. But you discredit the source - for reasons stated above and below.BuDo wrote:And pitiful anonymity? aren't you and rest of us anonymous on here? guess we all pitiful..umm k.. We're all anonymous, that is correct. But are we all pitiful? You seem to think so, but I disagree.
I did not assume that forum members would know who he is. I did assume that certain forum members, such as you, would be smart enough to actually check his (Bob Larkin's) credibility by doing a quick browse on his site. I really hope that you did actually check it.BuDo wrote:Reference yourself before you start to rely on other people's work to prove a point...That was my point...

I never said SRO doesn't have any gameplay.

AkillerNXC wrote:If joymax made euros and didn't make chinese at all. SRO would be equally as fun as WoW. It would require the exact same "teamwork" that WoW requires. Anyways, joymax is working hard on implementing things to do at cap. Look at medusa and roc. Roc itself doesn't die (wait till we get, fun funfunfunnnn), Medusa takes over an hour, and there's 6 mini uniques. Don't tell me that's not the same as a raid on WoW.
Things JM could do to fix capped boredom:
Fix guildwars.
More fortresses, and once every 3 days instead of every 2 weeks. (Change time duh)
Make reverse oblation/immolation not usable during FW or GW, this would make people want to GO to the wars more.
Fix nosuit buffing/ressing, and make level 85 or 90 trade animals.
Most of which could be fixed with about 5minutes work programming. I'm against WoW and it's social life destroying crap. People say SRO's bad like that, oh god, WoW is infinitely worse.
PS: Yes, I've played WoW. I've had a level 10 account (LOL), but I've played a friends higher level account (6X), still bored. Not to mention the UI is ridiculous.
