So I haven't been grinding at all in Karakoram or the black robber den or at the bunwangs or the ravine? Seemed like grinding to me, party or solo.

Some smokers are really nice people. I still don't want to share my air with them -- when they are smoking. Even after they put their cigarette out, I don't want them exhaling their smoke-filled air on me. I don't want to enter the area until the effects of their smoking are gone.

Similarly, some botters are really nice people in real life. I still don't want to share my server with them -- when they are botting. Even after they turn off their bot, I don't want them PVPing or grinding with me with their botted character. I don't want to enter the server until the effects of their botting are gone.

Just because they are nice people doesn't mean they belong botting (cheating) in our servers.

Didn't mean to sway the direction of this thread back to its beginnings but there is something that was brought up in another thread that was perfect for this one. This view/point is for all the SRO gamers who believes in JM stated terms. (Written Terms of agreement on use of illegal 3rd party programs)

A fact was pointed out in some other thread that the iSRO bot program cost around $8.00 to use per month. Each server has around 3000+ accounts. If only 1000 players per server subscribe to this bot service per month (And for sure its more than a 1000), then each of the 37 servers would fetch $8,000.00. Times that by 37 servers you get $296,000.00 per month going the iSRO bot black market.

JM is quick to take action when a single player does a charge back. They ban the person's account. This proves they don't mess around when it comes to getting their money. The question to all the people who don't think JM allows botting is this. Why is a iSRO bot black market that fetches between 250,000.00 to 300,000.00 PER MONTH! has been leeching off of Joymax's game for over 4 years now?

To further illustrate the deviousness of JM...take a look at the bot ban list every week...how many player bots are on there?....And why does it take less than 4 days for the sever to be full again with gold bots?...Do some of you still think JM is doing their best? and botters are to still to be blamed? Some of us like myself don't like botting period. But don't think for a second that Joymax feels the same way we do.

At least they made a first move to make sro better. What move the community made to make it better, besides destroying it?

You are right about all the types of bot programs out there...and thats why I said the "black market"...which includes all of them...anyway you look at it JM is "supposedly" losing lots of money to them... The community didn't destroy SRO..JM did. I believe they are indeed working with these bot producers.

If you were to say to yourself that there is no way the black market is leaching $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 a month form JM then lets just say thats its only $50,000.00 a month. Just for argument sake. Then that would still be $600,000.00 a year going to the bot black market. Do you think JM would stand for that if they were not getting a dime from it? For 4 YEARS and countng?!?!

Oh and don't forget that these figures are only from bot program monthly sales..the SRO black market includes the gold being sold every day as well which is not included in the total I've listed above.

On topic though, The community isn't doing it's job to prevent botting, but they are turning a very unusual blind eye. That and many other games. I went over to my friend's house and he showed me a certain website. They have gold and characters for sale on like 30+ games or something. This really makes me wonder. Is it really that hard to track the IP of one of your users? These gold companies are prob coming from one general area. Why wouldn't they ban them perm or even better, get their IP and sue them for international copyright violations? I mean it's JM game, and these bot companies that make a program without JM permission would be doing something illegal arent' they? Considering how much money are going to these companies... it's kind of crazy that so many games aren't doing anything at all.

The community certainly helped destroy SRO. The excuse "Joymax isn't stopping us, so let's bot" isn't a good enough excuse to start botting. The community chose to bot. The community chose to buy gold. The community indirectly chose to have gold companies flood the servers with gold bots.

Why would Joymax work with bot companies and maybe get $2 out of $8 a month per bot when they could sell a bot themselves and get $7 per bot (cheaper than the competition)? Even if Joymax sold their own bots, they'd still have this bot-infested reputation that causes so many people to turn away from the game, gives it a bad reputation. It doesn't seem to make much sense for them to work with bot companies that are ruining Joymax's reputation.

I'm not so sure Joymax is simply sitting back and letting it happen. The problem may just be getting too big for them to handle alone. Either that, or they see how much the community "loves" bots and figure why should they bother stopping it.

I've even heard conspiracy theories stating that Joymax is behind all of the gold selling too. Why would they go through the trouble of running thousands of gold bots on 37 servers when they could just sell gold in the item mall? Gold supplies getting low? Change a number in the database. No need to flood the servers so people can't log in.

Normally, if a company is truly aiming to keep its good reputation, they will do all they can to retain it. Joymax, has done shit. They have taken the least amount of effort to get rid of bots. I'm not even sure if the GM log on to the game anymore. The new staff might not even be aware of this problem.

It is true that Joymax can easily make its own gold, but why create a free server when you can make a crowded one where people will buy premium so they can log on. This game is only being played by addicts. I haven't seen a new player in years.

My theory, Joymax is simply driving this game into the ground and trying to collect as much money as possible. Hopefully SRO 2 will be better managed by another company.

There are so many things Joymax could've done to help relieve the current situation, but they do none of it. They have a shitty war on bots, shitty service, and shitty interactions. They can't take care of their servers and enforce their own rules, they can't help players that have even bought premium services, and they can't even promote a community within their own game.

They don't just sit around saying "well the police aren't arresting these drug dealers, bank robbers, and car thieves. Let's all steal cars and rob banks to support our drug cartel." The authorities (Joymax) need to do a good job enforcing the rules, but the community (SRO players) should also do a good job policing themselves.

It's much easier for bouncers at a club to do their job if people, for the most part, follow the rules of the club.

Although maybe if Joymax started logging 50 GMs into each server every single day temp-banning players on-the-spot for rules violations, perhaps the community would wise up.

Even ONE GM per day. I'm willing to bet that a botter would be less likely to bot if he/she would risk being caught EVERY time they ran the program. Follow through is necessary (bring back the 30,000 bot bans!)

We had that, remember silk assistants? People also quit helping when they realized the list of botters they sent in to JM would just go ignored for years. I quit telling JM who was a bot when they did nothing and the bot would still be there. Crime watch doesn't really do much when we have no power, and the ones with power to enforce the rules don't care when you tell them.

I never meant to say that you, BuDo, personally are saying it's ok to bot because Joymax doesn't care. I'm saying the community in general seems to think it's ok to bot simply because Joymax doesn't care.

When a single player does a chargeback, they are taking money away from Joymax. Of course I think it's wrong for bot companies to be making money off of SRO, but by them doing so, they are not taking money directly away from Joymax. They might be making 3.5 million a year, but Joymax isn't losing 3.5 million a year because of them. Joymax should fight against the bot companies over loss of reputation or rules breaking, not loss of revenue.

Couple of weeks ago i got curious over their "Deco online" game, i checked out their official forums & i don't remember seeing any spam, bot or general fk joymax blah blah blah threads. But i was more interested in finding ingame ss at the time so i didn't really look at most of them.

i dont know about dark eden though thats not really my kind of game.

1 thing i found interesting though, deco's website is ALOT better than silkroads.

the reason most legits are lower level is because we are out getting a life whilst the "botters" arent.

think about it. if a bot had a life... why would they want to become a high level in a game they check regularly. it doesnt make sense.

i havnt had my pc for 4monthes and silkroad for 6+ monthes. i have a life. im level 77 and purely legit. it took me 2 monthes from 30-76.

the game was NOT designed to be abused in this way. so really you need to ask the question why anyone would support it.

me 2 ... however if they were legit then i wouldnt. if they were in my union or guild or other guilds/unions i know are legit... i wouldnt scam them.
