You might distinguish between botting and other forms of cheating, but I believe the biggest reason botters don't go all the way (and do other forms of cheating) is because most don't know how. Given that there is a known security leak, I bet you that people who have cheated before (botting) would be more than happy to jump at the first opportunity to try it out and take advantage of it. For instance. A friend of ours scammed someone on another server. That person came to Hera, we got to know them, and then we found out about the scamming. So we all got together and made that friend give the stuff back. Even on a completely different server. That's how my friends work.

People playing this game have certain tendencies towards other groups. This game only amplifies it. Many 3rd world countries play this game simply to be the best at something. This causes others from an opposing country to get mad when x race beings owning the server. They join forces and bot so they can quickly beat the shit out of the bots. This continues until the only legits remaining are players that could careless about owning and more about having fun with friends. This is a very small minority. Proof? Look at Venus. Supposedly the haven of legits, notice how it's ONLY 1 server. That shows you just how outnumbered we are. 1:36. Many play for the satisfaction of winning. Just like in other games, CS for example. Ppl play to kill and win. There is no, let's all hold hands. If you want shit like that, go play some teletubbies game. Sure it's possible for us to all get along, but not very probably at all.

Which reminds me. In WoW, it's not necessary to have Add-Ons. But Carbonite/QuestHelper have made my questing process 100000x faster. Could I cap without them? of course. Would it take longer? Definitely.

We're not comparing how the interaction between people or how the top players in a sport and in SRO are the same.
