Bad comparison. The act of driving (or catching a ride) to school instead of walking doesn't advance you as a person. It doesn't give you "higher levels" as in make you smarter, stronger, and whatnot. Either way, you'll get to school, learn some things (granted the quality of what you learn in school is questionable), and get home. Further, if you walked to school, you'd get some exercise, which is good for your heath, making you stronger.
Taking a car to school is more like taking a horse to your grinding spot instead of walking. You're still doing the work yourself.

Even before power leveling I was one of the few players who would not crowd someone else's grinding spot, but with power leveling it has become very hard for lower level players to find a good grinding spot without some level 80+ coming along with a bunch of newbies killing everything in sight and spawning a large amount of party mobs on you.
Good point. There are too many high level power levelers that are greedy and think they "own" certain areas of the map.
It's great though when you can fight back. Back when I was on my blader on Venice, about level 52, this 64+ glaiver came by to my Mujigi grinding spot trying to power level his 33ish friend, KSing me and my party members constantly. I kept KDing everything he tried to attack and eventually he gave up. It was kind of pathetic though. He didn't seem to realize that power leveling a 33 character on level 49 mobs isn't the most efficient way to do it, considering the 11 level gap giving you the best experience. He was german so I couldn't even explain that to him.
