some hunters kill lowbie thiefs and let their friends/guild mate take the loot. that is just like popping.

Well it works differently for me. My high-level thieves and hunters in my guild will either find some loot or kill a thief/trader and gaurd it until I get over and get it (as a thief), since I'm only level 27. Then they gaurd me till I go to the Thieve's Den. Nothing wrong with it- it's called being cunning and crafty.

And at the end of the day, isn't this just a game? Don't take things so personally sometimes

I wouldn't say it's like 1* popping... as a thief, there is absolutely no message anywhere saying you're immune to players if you have X stars. Besides, if a low level theif is stupid enough to, well, thief, he deserves to die.

Thieving is robbing people, people don't like being robbed. It's built into the game and thus I don't find fault with any thieves especially since I thief on occasion as well. However, if you thief, you can't expect to be granted some pvp immunity like a trader can.

The selling of drugs is explicitly illegal whereas 1* popping is only illegal based on the so-called "obvious" inferences you make based on Joymax's statement. These same "obvious" inferences coincidentally agree with your views on the matter. You're only seeing what you want to see in your analysis of Joymax's statements when there are other possibilities that you refuse to consider.

I implore you to look at things from all angles before using something as proof since that smae thing may be used against you as well. The first things you'll learn in a college level writing class is not to generalize and to never only present one side of a debate. In fact, you can give your argument more validity by conceding some things and at the same time reinforcing your claims.

From reading a lot of different perspectives, it seems the main justification given by poppers is, i'm high level so i can do what i want. If this is the case, then fair enough, but its also pretty sad. I hear a lot of 'go level up' rebuttals also, i suppose they better do it without that nice +2 weapon or nice piece of armor they were saving up for, so you can buy about 10 hp pots with their money, which you probably could get from drops in less time. As far as i'm concerned, it comes down to ruining someone elses fun, but most poppers seem unable to comprehend this. I'm certain that if a lot of poppers were not so high up the 'food chain' and were in fact at risk from similar actions from say level 80+ players, they would not be so selfish in their attitude. As far as 'being creative' and 'thinking outside the box' people need to actually realise what those two phrases mean. It is neither creative or thinking outside the box to copy someone elses exploit that causes nothing but friction, and allows the strong to get stronger, while the weak stay weak. Never mind though, because i doubt anyone cares about thier actions, because they grinded to a high level, basically because you have played the game longer than some noobs you feel you have the right to do whatever you like. Phew - now onto the post I would have made originally. I have one counter to the following quote, and I'm asking more out of curiosity as to whether it has been considered, and if so, asking for reasons as to why it wouldn't be a preferred method of thievery:

Many multistars are fairly high level and have fairly strong guilds/unions backing them up. If you just hang out waiting for another, once you get two or three, and the people you robbed notice you're waiting around for another, they're gonna get as much backup in there as possible. And when 2 or 3 caravans do this, you find yourself in a very sticky situation. Best way to take down multistars is to hit and run, especially if you know the guild is strong enough or in a strong union that can bring in heavy backup.

Well we all have our views of what is wrong and right, but if you're going to 1* pop, just do it, don't think following some low lvl trader with an ox and spawning some high lvl npc thieves is not obvious. On my second time trying to trade some high lvl thief start following us with an ox and just waitied for the npc's to kill us. Kinda sad, but funny at the same time because it felt like a really slow camel & ox race. HA! I would have preferred they just came and kill us themselves rather than sit around and let the npc do it. Just a preference.

and i sympathise more with newbie traders who got dced halfway through trade run and lost their goods, ride a horse back and spend lots and lots of time trying to find their goods which already got stolen by a thief.
