Well, I was selling my 42 SOS glaive right? Some guy wanted it, I told him the price was 40mil. He thought about it for a while and decided to buy it. No big deal right? Well here is where it gets interesting: he PMs me about 30 minutes later saying the weapon is the suxxor, which it really was, stats were bad, only +3, no blues. So I told him "well too bad, should have thought about that before buying it". Also, the biggest thing that he was complaining about is that he couldn't get it to +5. So I said, "Well, I kinda feel bad, since you DID pay 40 mil which is a lot of gold for that weapon, so ya know what, I'll get that to plus 5 for you, I have some spare 7th deg astrals since im not 7th degree anymore, they are of no use to me". He was kinda etchy to just give the weapon over to me, so I said, "I know you don't want to get scammed, but really, there is no other way, you're just gonna have to trust me". He still didn't go for it. Then I said, "What if I were to give you some kind of collateral... possibly this SOM shield?" (the shield was a SOM+4 level 8 shield I aquired for around 4 mil as seen on the middle character in my sig) Well, he applied for an exchange to me, he put in the 40mil glaive, I put in the 4mil shield. He hit accept. I hit accept. I had the glaive. He had the shield. I walked away casually. I sold the glaive right after for 38mil. So I made 40 + 38 - 4 = 73 mil off a dinky 7th deg SOS. Later he said he was going to ruin my life on silkroad, let everyone know I scammed him: but I kindly mentioned to him that this wasn't gainst the TOS and that HE in fact, was the moron in the situation. Gotta learn your lessons sometimes, I know I have, but it sure as hell wasn't for 40+ mil.

scammed one of my rather noobie guild members out of a lvl 21 wolf by false advertising a lvl 32 sos glavie then switching it out ( i know he should have checked before accepting but he's very new to this game and shouldnt be held accountable for his childlike innocence lol )

This person is still there, scammed one of my guildes today in the same way (except with a 52+5 sos glaive), got a 42+3 sos spear out of him. He even quit silkroad altogether because of it! So now i have a big grudge against this person.

I play on BABEL server and it is fool of scammers of all kinds. When i started to play i got scammed in 2 hours of playing (i was under lvl 10) and for lousy 10k.
I dont want to write the names because it is useles (i know i guy that scammes and he has i dont know how much chars - pms me every day from new char with new bright idea and trys to scamm me...
I will write just few ways of scamm and how they do it...

1: (i got scammed in that way) - SRO is sometimes very lagy and the thing is they want to sell you something through exch (mostly sos or som in half price) and when u agree they put the sos in slot and close it, they repeat it few times and blame lag for it.. so next time you try to make transaction quickly and end up paying few mil for npc thing.

2: Old WTS silk scamm. They work on people from few hours to few weeks to gain their trust, get your ID and PW and ask you to log off. when u do it - busted.. (btw you all know that you can buy and recieve silk even if you are in the game)

3: (most stupid but it works on newbs) they offer to teach your wolf a "new" magic attack, affcorse you have to give him the wolf = busted

and all the small scams as overcharging, selling event boxes and eggs for lot of money (they dont work after the event ofcorse), selling super sos arrows, globals, astrals, immortals even coming to the guild lending money and cleaning the guild storage and then disappear..

I know you all know this but i hope new players read this forum allso and that i will help someone :)

This is a fun thread to read...but its not very helpful since its not organized...maybe if there were just names and no stories and if the tsickies were divided by server. that could actually help people...

Anyway here is one from ALPS.. he not only scams but he also has a unique hack he is able to use lvl 80 nukes as a lvl 25 (which is pretty sweet). i may put it in the forums under a seprate topic (with picture of course)

I'm really ashamed to post this, but I was a newb at the time (still am really) and didn't know several things that should have tipped me off to this scam.

Red Sea - bladey

I loaned 300k to a friend to invest in a wolf, we were going to lvl it then sell it for a small profit. After awhile we got it to lvl 14 and I was wanting my money back, so we started trying to sell. He tried for a while, no luck, so before logging off he gave it to me to try selling. I was planning to stall and buy/sell/trade all night anyway.

So I spent all night trying to sell it for 1.3mil. No takers, but I was making some money all night so I was happy. It was getting close to 4am so I was ready to log off, was just finishing up a couple last transaction of Str tablets and elements, when someone runs past screaming "WTB Wolf < lvl 20!!!" I was like "FINALLY!" and PM'd. He came over, I told him the price, and he said sure. So first off he starts asking my lvl, I had just turned 20 but hadn't tried any jobbing yet, so he offers me a white card for 35k. I hadn't checked yet how much they sell for and he told me he paid 50k for it, so I just said "fine whatever I don't really want it but I want to sell this damn thing and go to bed." Then he tells me he will escort me to DW and I'll make a bunch of money. Says he just got a great new item and wants to try it. So again I'm really annoyed and don't want to but I figure I'd humor him to get the sale. He tells me to load up a 2*, but I start thinking if I do he'll just switch to thief and take it if I do so I just do a 1*. We head out, and he starts asking me to give him the wolf for the trip so he can fight stuff off easier. I tell him hell no, I'm not stupid. Finally I start to not like this whole thing so I head back into town, sell off the goods at a loss and take the flag off. I found out later I saved my ass on that one.

So then I just say f-this, I'm going to bed, and he comes back up and says he still wants the wolf. I say fine, 1.4 mil now, no more BS. He says ok, but I have to give him the wolf here, then he'll come back as his other high level char that has a ton of money to pay. I say no way, that is the oldest one in the book. He begs me, saying he needs the wolf under this char, he will give me 2mil. I tell him f-no, the only way I'd even consider it is if he gave me RIGHT NOW his +3 sword and shield that he was using, and some other collateral. Note that it is now close to 5am and I'm really tired. He says fine, and puts up a sword and shield and some other things, including a pair of SOS lvl 1 earrings. But I note that he's still wearing his equipment and he put up crap instead, so I cancel and say no. He takes off his stuff and does it again, and I tell him no, he still is putting up crap not the nice +3 stuff. So he does it again, putting up the nice stuff this time, including the SOS. SO, I think ok I can sell this stuff for a the money if he doesn't pay up, so I trade that for the wolf. WELL, I got f'd, because in between me looking at the items to verify it was the good stuff he switched them with the crap. we complete the trade without me noticing, says he'll brb to pay, and logs off. I wait around for 5 minutes then decide to check the items and realize I got f'd. I don't expect him back at this point but I wait around for 45 minutes just in case. Never came back. Had I known that you share storage between all chars on your account I wouldn't have fallen for it.

I wrote it off as "I GOT SCAMMED" and paid my friend back the money I'd lost that was his. Few days later bladey comes back up to me in my stall, says hi, sorry I didn't come back my computer died. I told him to get lost but he's like no dude I'm serious, I can pay you. Fine, go get the money, I'm not holding my breath though. I ask him the name of his other char, he says Reaper_X. Ok, he leaves, and an hour later I'm roaming around and I see Reaper_x. I go up and start talking to him and he says he'd never heard of the dude before, and then bladey walks up. Thinking I'm going to have some fun with this, I put bladey on autotrace and follow him around screaming that he was a scammer over and over and over, following him everywhere he went. I LOL'd at his efforts to ditch me. So, then he meets back up with Reaper_x and a low level trader. They head out, escorting the trader. I'm still screaming that bladey is a scammer too. They get the trader just outside Jangan and thieves start spawning, the trader was a 3*. I was a bit higher lvl by this point and those two weren't killing the thieves so I did. Over and over. They got pissed then and put on thief uni's and just attacked the trader outright, killing him. I was pretty pissed at their scam here so I res'd the trader and kept healing him while he ran back to town, the two bastards were still hitting him after I ress'd. I hung around for awhile screaming that they were scammers and all that. I went on a campaign for a while after that, setting up a stall near the trader post just titled "Reaper_X and bladey are scammers" With the note "Do not trust them to escort your trade". That REALLY pissed off Reaper_x, and he came up and started telling me "wtf noob, you suck, you whiner, it's just a game blahblahblah your mom!!" I thought it was hilarious, I was griefing their grief game they were pulling on traders. I noticed them trying to pull the scam over and over again with other low level traders and I'd warn the traders about those two. They were so pissed off.

Later I am stalling and notice bladey again WTB a wolf. So I PM him asking what happened to the wolf he "bought" from me. He laughs and says I didnt' buy that, I scammed you. I said thank you, I took a SS of the chat for proof that he scammed me. I have no idea what i can do with it though. I was conned fair and square I guess.

I suppose even the whole "I'll escort you" then popping them is also sort of a scam, I thought that was really shitty and started my total HATRED for players as thieves in this game. SO depending on your outlook you could also add Reaper_X to the scammer list.

Aww, I feel sorry for you. Being scammed sux!! Sometimes I wish I could find those players and bang their head to the ground! ..But still, what difference would it make. Once a scammer, allways a scammer.

I've made a few mistakes before too (Like buying an elixir for 1mill cause they changed the price without me noticing!). But once I bought an elixir for $1 because the scammer forgot to change the price, HAHAHA! That must be the best moment ever on SR for me. "Scamming" a scammer. :D :D

The worst part is that they don't see anything wrong with their behaviour, Reaper_X was like "what does it matter if I do this, it's just a game noob!" The point is that if you have a concience you will realize that is another person on the other end of that transaction that is being emotionally griefed over your actions. I tried to explain to him that if you can do that kind of thing in a game with no remorse you are likely to pull the same things IRL, and from a psychological standpoint that is indicative of anti-social personality disorder. But being either really stupid or just a kid he goes "WTF man you talk dumb".

I'm not too hurt by it, it happens and I just started a month ago so I'm still learning all of these little loopholes they use. I just REALLY don't trust anyone anymore in this game.

Ya, I see what you mean. I've played a few games before, and thought that it was no way I was gonna get scammed in this game, cause I knew about the dangers. But I was wrong.. :P

But you learn from mistakes, so I'm glad things this happens in a game rather than in real life.. After all, the stuff in the game is just an illusion of life.

Telling people about the risks just doesn't work, they have to experience it.

Ok, i see what you mean but if you look at this way: offering to escort someone and than robbing him is morraly wrong but not a scam or "wrong thing" in the game. Let me remind you that this is China, silkroad 7th century AD so that things did happen in RL in history (it is not anybodys fault if you go to the docks, meet wrong people and end up dead - for example).

And about scammers here are the new names: bojan666, new_way, IzNoGuD, uros, srbin_u_raj, ZloCa - (this is all the same guy and his brother - i was talking about them in previous post one is 12 years old and other one is 15). They scamm everything - i was witnesing when thay scammed charr lvl 21 and took like 300k and NPC stuff, to poor guy was chating in main chat and was asking them for mercy but noone could hel him, they dont care. Yesterday thay scammed 1 guy lvl 72 (old trick WTS silk) and were braging about it.
So bottom line is, they dont know and they dont have nerves to play this game, they cheated (i think) through all games and they are cheating now.
But JaJa u forgot to mention it is not only emotional grief - man, 72 lvl withouth silk is 1 year of someones life, time, effort, hopes, money for net, sleaplees nights etc.. so imagine how this guy feels now (btw they stoled whole acc not only stuff).
And i found out from people that know them in RL that they are like this in RL, they are children of rich parents and very spoiled, used to get what they want withouth effort. so ya all imagine what will they look like as people in later life with this kind of phatology :?: :?: :?:

BTW i play on babel server

Zeus:
lvl 90 Bow hybrid (fu.fa.)

Yeah I suppose you could argue that those kinds of subterfuge are fair game here, I still think it is pretty crappy to do. More of a con than a scam I suppose, though those two words mean pretty much the same thing.

Just last night I saw a guy open a stall near the Accessory chick in Jangan titled "Devil Suits!" but he was just selling regular black suits for 45k or something. I forgot to get his name. There's more bastads in the world willing to fleece other people than I thought. The Greater Internet F--ckwad theory in full effect.

Meh, just got scammed less than an hour ago. Some punk on the greece server said he'd trade me a lvl 16 SOS bow for a lvl 16 SOS blade. We started the trade and we both put in our SOS's. We both confirmed the trade, I turned around to look at my tv, and when i looked back, and saw that he changed it. I went to hit the cancel button but accidentally hit the accept button and then the trade went through. He got my SOS blade for the cost of a regular lvl 16 bow. Not a big deal though, I used alchemy on it and took it down to 0 before selling, the crit went from 10 to 2 and it had practially no blue on it. So he really only got about 1mil off of it. It's just the principle though. He scammed a couple of other guys, so we all followed him around and kept telling everyone that he was a scammer. We actually saved 3 other people from getting scammed. They all started asking about him. It was kinda funny, then he got one of his little buddies to try and scare me off telling me that one of his friends was hacked by the guy and that he could do the same to me. I didn't buy it.

Agreed. Normal hunter ids are just called hunter ids. The 1 mil one has a special name (i forgot). I know the 1 mil theif suits are Devil Thief suits? ... anyways i think somewhere on the forums they talk aobut that.

BTW nice thread, very informative.
