you do know that the amount of elixers you have to use goes up exponentially, right? Like it takes (from +0 with powder) about 30 to get to +4 and 50 to get +5 and 100 to get +6 and 300 to get +7 so +9 will probably take you like 1,000 elixers lol.

I know people that can +4 almost anything in 10 exilirs or less, and I couldnt +4 with 50 exilirs. So, your "theory" fails.

Yes, this is soooo true, i can always easily +3 stuff with 3~6 elixers all my guildies gimme their stuff to at least +3 it .
However, I'm with the crowd above...I can +3 most stuff in 10 elixirs or less, but +4 just not happening. I had a 42 sos glavie that I got to +3 in 7 elixirs, then proceeded to pump another 50 elixirs at it and it wouldn't go +4. I don't think 50% increase would help me much.
