Get into the db of SRF, using sql injection make yourself an admin, go to the admin panel, find the ip of the user posting, run a trojan on them and keylog them.

I thought this thread was about chatting in-game in SRO and getting hacked because of that. There's certainly something to be said about SQL injection attacks against the database at Joymax. It depends on how much protection they have there.

I guess if you're going to give yourself admin rights in the database to get into the admin panel, then the victim wouldn't even need to interact with you at all, whether chat, exchange, party, or whatever.

Personally, I just think all these "party/exchange/chat hack" threads are just to scare people. If someone's going to hack your account (not YOUR personal computer) they'll do it with or without your help.

Hackers can get you anytime, anywhere, any way. Any REAL hacker knows how to do it, people get jobs trying to hack into very important databases and get paid for finding ways in, so that they can fix them. The thing is, such an advanced hacker wouldn't spend that much time on a GAME.

Fyi, srf was hacked about 5 months ago.

SRF was never hacked. If you were referring to the 'off topic post editing and deletion' that happened. It wasn't hacked, someone got a hold of one of the mods of the off topic lounge account.

But if you are talking about the official silkroad forums hack, yes that happened and it was quite humorous

Oh and those talking about the chat,exchange,party hack and such it CAN be possible. It all depends on the information that is being exchanged between the server and the client.

Yes, it's called penetration testing. There's plenty of companies that do that electronically... I wonder if there are companies that get paid to PHYSICALLY try to break into an organization rather than run penetration tests on their network infrastructure. Test the physical security of some building for example.
