I am very scared about this, is it ONLY the people's accounts who bot that are revealed on this website's manifest? or are 'legit' players getting hacked by some prick and getting all their acc. info e-mail etc put up on this site? because this 'Thur' guy posted a link to this weebsite on another topic and i clicked on it and looked through the manifest, does this mean i have a keylogger? i am assuming that a keylogger is a program that records what keys you press so that they can get your ID and PW. If i'm wrong someone PLEASE correct me because i'm shitting my pants here? could my hours and hours and hard work char building all be in the hands of a hacker? not to mention my pile of gold i have stashed (joke, i'm broke actually) Post back someone please...

lol thanks ok so maybe i dont have a keylogger on my p.c. (taking it that what i thought a keylogger was, was infact correct as you didn't correct me) but yeah ok i shall change mypassword as soon as possible.

Well if u hadn't dloaded any "optional" software for silkroad client then u should not worry about those keyloggers. They can be harmful only when they operate at ur pc. And for this website with all those accounts, i think they were all gathered thru some kind of 3-party software, so let's hope u don't have installed any of them

Dont ever click on links. Banner ads and any number of other seemingly innocent things can be used to inject malware/spyware into your comp.

those accounts are more possibly obtained from users using bot programs or whatever auto-playing programs for botting there is out there.

those programs can easily send out the account info back to whatever bot-database it's pointed to. so yes, they could be a legit player's account who happen to just "test out" a bot program so LOL for them too... those who bot but baby-sit... and of course the goldfarmers...

a lot more other worms/trojan can do the same so if you're not careful what your PC is sending out, you're a hacker's paradise

i played SRO for like 6months or so and i have a lot of SOS items at any moment and i dont have any anti-virii or firewall installed in my Windows OS. i browse a lot of websites including warez and download a lot of stuff i dont even need. i play in cafe's and some people know my account, tell me how the hell haven't i got hacked yet?

and oh yes i did the same for Ragnarok and MU Online too for like 2years+ now and i never had any of my accounts hacked as well...

and oh ... there was this 1 day (3months ago).... i have a cousin come over to use my PC, i made him use it for Friendster and Yahoo mail (of course God know how many other sites he went)... when i came back 5hrs later... i got spyare, cheap-shot trojans and worms lying around...

of course i cleaned it out... manually deleted the exe's and the spawner-exe's, clean out the windows registry. the rest i was lazy and just downloaded removal tools from symantec... the rest of the exe and the nastier ones, i booted with a Gentoo LiveCD and mounted the flarking windows partition (i intentionally use FAT32 bcoz of this) to delete them.

it helps to be familiar of the programs that run in background while u still have a "clean PC" so you can easily rub-out the virii and all the flarking dirt when you get infected

in the end, i never use or tested bot programs so i never got hacked
and never was too neglectful of having a clean PC
and never giving accnt info to those you cant get revenge (lol)

The following is opinion:

I think Santa is actively siphoning/intercepting packets containing user information between the bot-login server which handles account validation for bot users.

This is what he means by constantly getting more user id's/passes.

The 258 bot has had auto-response for some time, but I believe he is intercepting 369 directly, which in all intents and purposes, also means he can intercept 258.

So I'd like to say well done Santa. Don't stop until the streets run like rivers with their wasted SP and stripped bodies.

And he's clearly done something already, you're an idiot if you think this is just talk. Go look at his "partial list" which is 500/10,000+ (he said 5 digits of accounts) that he has access to!

He is doing this purely for personal gain

He cares not for the better interest of the sro community, he said himself that he wants to upset the balance of how other people make money from this game. IE bot card sellers, and in game gold sellers.

And to those that think in game gold sellers are part of joymax are completely moronic. If it was joymax themselves they wouldn't need a bot to get the gold, as they can just grant themselves X amount of gold per sale.

He's doing this out of envy towards the entrepreneur who generate income from these services. ( by stating this I am in no way saying that i support them, because their actions are also deemed as un-ethical)

He just is striving to do the same. all who think otherwise are blind

Bot258 can claim alot, they even got cut off from reselling the bot when they were not doing a good job to the botters.

Unless there is some unlikely forum consipiracy over at bot 258 regarding autoreply, Im pretty sure that their bot doesnt have it. LOL I found this also:

They asked if any member of the forum, or a friend of anyone on the server knew anyone on that list... Which means that the primary distributor of the bot is still safe and only the hackers of the hackers are getting hit. As usual, the ignorant masses are the worst affected by these things. I dont think I have much respect for someone that makes a bot, distributes it and then hacks the users. If they hadnt made it at all, there would be less botters by default. I mean they commit a crime, profit from that crime, then tout themselves as heros. I call BS.

Ryoko, I don't understand why you compare him to the terrorists. So he makes the game economy imbalance by stealing froms the botters and sell it on Ebay (or whatever). Buying/selling gold exists before. The economy was jacked already. It's argueable if what he does make the matter worse because if nothing happen, the gold the he steals would end up on Ebay anyway.

Perhaps I'm a bit naive to think that he only steals from the botters, but if only the botters that he's after, which btw seems to be the case because I haven't heard from legit players found their names on the list, then I'd jump for joy and sing 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead'.

JoyMax, however many accounts they locked, failed to keep botting under control. The fanbase loses faith in JoyMax. This guy puts fear into the botter's head, not from regular players.

I guess the doubt is his guy ethic; but until his 'list' shows accounts of legit players, I don't mind even though what he does is illegal. It takes a crook to know and catch a crook. What he does betters the situation.

It IS an intelligent debate, not an attempt.

Using illegal method to enforce what he belives in would make him a thief, a hackers but not a terroist. Terrorists, by definition, practice and advocate terrorism by arousing fear to distrupt their targets. Some of you would say AHA! at this point. Not quite. He's after botters, not legit players. Anyone who likes to argue the previous statement, please sees my previous post. Point is, his goal isn't to destroy legit players and so there's no reason to be fear. He's a terrorists to the botters though but I don't care.

I never say what he does is legal, nor did he as he admited that he steals accounts, strip and mess them up. From an unbias point of view, I don't mind him because what he does, IMO, betters the situations. For a kick, why don't we do a poll to see who feel they should fear him?
