The game SHOULD be unbalanced towards people who are willing to spend irl $$$ on gear. Why else would people spend money if it didn't give them advantage? Why else would a company develop a game (and pay game designers, advertisers, web designers, etc) if it WASN'T going to make money?
It's free because it's being supported by the item mall. If you can't afford it, fine...But that's why the game continues to exist without a subscription fee.
However, I don't like the amount that's required to play.
Personally, I have to get
1) Premium PLUS: there's no way I'd EVER finish the 5 hours. No one can for an entire month. If someone can, they're either botting or an idiot with no life who doesn't understand that this is a game...But, the buffs help (+10int/str, 10% damage increase, etc.) I can't afford amazing gear in game...and I can only grind for 1-2 hours every 2-3 days....might as well make it worth while =)
2) Pet: It's annoying to pick up gold as a nuker. So, I think a pet is absolutely needed.
3) If I WERE capped (I'm not even close...lvl 57 =P) I think I'd stop getting premium+ and downgrade to silver...and just get gears. If I WANT to pvp...then I would spend the money on it...But...that's years away...if ever...
I still think it's better than wow...because if I don't want to play I can just stop...there's no neccessity to buy a monthly subscription or whatever. GW is a bit better...but....it got boring quickly

688= 68 dollars to benefit from silk for PvP fully, without regard to scrolls.
766= 76 Dollars to benefit from silk as much as possible for grinding.
Also, I know that 5 Hours of premium is a lot, but I know people that are legit that get it just for the 30k sp from the quests.

I mean, the more you support the game the better. However, It would be nice if Joymax gave the non silk buyers a little more...
Free avatars for that last event was cool though.
Maybe have something like once you hit lv20 make a quest so you can get a pick up pet, and it dies in 7 days. Once you hit 30/40/50/60/70 etc, you get a 7 day revival clock. Continue this to cap.
Or even better, once you hit 20-40-60-80 a quest for a 7 day gold GT. People will see how much less grinding sucks when your on a gt, and be more inclined to get one.
Maybe, for cape pvp reduce the premium PLUS buffs down to 5%, and the gold to 3%, and the Silver to 2%. Still allow it to be 10% for jobbing.
Additionally, think of how much Joymax gets paid through all the premiums on all the servers. That's a lot of money. Now think of what we have seen since legend 3+ that would represent that. The E mail service. That's cool and all, but that would cost the company maybe 2 minimum wage employees. I am sure they could even find volunteers to do it as well.
