I think that a hunter that takes log and takes goods is even worse than a one star popper.

here is why. when you see theif you know he a bad guy. you know he gonna take you goods.

but hunter is good guy. all he do is protect trader and possible return stolen goods. not take them himself.

Think of hunter as a cop. If cops were to beat on criminals and then take their stuff for themselves people would be outraged. screams of dirty cops and tainted police forces. (thats you)

I pop people they see me. they know its comming.

you put on a mask. pretend to be good guy.

but you just as "evil" as everyone says the poppers are.

So what about thieves who run around without their suit on watching spawns?

thats just smart business.

im not going to just walk around in theif suit for no reason. the longer your out in theif suit the higher chance you have of high lvl hunter killing you. so walk around in Kris Kringle job until i see some loot or have some means of killing trader.

Bake

Thats a lowbie thing - most of them don't have a chance of leaving the gate. Once higher, I started suiting up even before I leave. I dunt care much to hide.

The reason I take off the suit sometimes is because people on Xian don't like me.

Kris kringle job 100%. You can murder me if you like, and have a red tag, lose a possible 6%, and your sp. But, you'll have to murder my horse first - thats 2 murders. Enjoy.

1. I can be evil, that's fine.
2. I would definately be a dirty cop. Good looking girls would NEVER get a DWI from me. I think I would be in the Internal Affairs office once a moth or so.
3. I don't use my hunter card to act as a cop. I don't want to protect anyone as I am too low of a level to do any good at it. I only use my hunter card to kill the popper and take his stuff. This isn't much different than teaming up with a hunter while you're thieving (which I will also do) so he can kill the poppers and let you take the loot.

I sometimes do this and sometimes I leave it on, just depends on how many brightly colored pajama wearers I see..If I know there's the group of 6-8 high lvl hunters, then I go unsuited until the time comes and even then get swatted more often than not. If there's a fair balance of levels and hunters and thieves, I then remain suited.

poppin'

Post by SolidIce »

And to say that popping will end because theives will spawn npc hunter is thinking to simple. theifin' is an art. we get it down to a pretty good system. If i want to pop you I will. even if that means doing it as a trader.

sure it will take longer, because I will only spawn one theif, but that one will get the job done. I have faith in him. and if i stay on you long enough i will get more on you. then all i have to simply do is let a friend know where the goods are.

in a way this is worse than theives spawning npc. with theives you know they are out to get you as you go on trade. but now you have no idea who is a theif and who is just another trader.

people could get really mean with it if they wanted to. they could just sit by the merchant and wait for someone to load up, follow them out of town, and get them at the most conveinet (sp? sorry) time.

If they do make this change you will no longer be able to trust ANYONE

~now isnt that reassuring?~

Here is my point. According to Jook, hunters who relog to thief are worse than poppers because:
Jook_ wrote:when you see theif you know he a bad guy. you know he gonna take you goods . . . I pop people they see me. they know its comming.

If you don't have your thief suit on, they don't really know it's coming, do they? The smart ones suspect, but until you put your suit on and charge them from behind they can't know what's coming. How is that different from suit switchers? The smart trader is suspicious when a hunter he doesn't know goes out of sight and relogs, but until he comes back with a thief suit he doesn't know any more than in the first case. So I think your reason doesn't hold water. I think the real reason you think relogging hunters are worse is the same reason that traders think poppers are worse: they affect you directly when you think they can't. They steal from you when you think you're safe.

Why should thieves be safe if a one-star trader can't be safe? If your loophole is okay, why not this loophole? You object to the deception on one hand, but not on the other? I am not saying whether I agree or disagree that suit switching is wrong, but I think you are out of line when you claim that poppers are any better. The same people who argued that popping was always legitimate merely because it was possible are now arguing that suit switching is illegitimate, because this time they are the ones getting hurt and they don't like it. I would love to hear a better reason, if there is one.

however in order to pop someone i have to have loot in my trans.

so i cant just throw on my suit and att them or try to spawn on them.

unless i see they are more than 1* in which case it doesnt matter in what way I theif them, because they went with two stars and you cannot argue that it is immoral to theif two star traders.

the only reason to keep suit off is to prevent high lvl hunters from attacking me. not to fool the trader.

face it if you are trading and some high lvl is walking around jangan forest, or don's homeland do you really think he is there to train?
do you think that they lie to sit by the ferry's because the like tho boats? No of course you dont.

he has no reason to be there besides theifing. no high lvl is really going to camp for TG and uruichi doesnt spawn in homeland.

all i can say is low lvl traders be smart. take the woods. travel in packs. with hunters. even if hunters are low lvl it is ok. trust no one you dont know well, and yet still be weary of them. :)

today i robbed some trader who had low lvl hunters. which is no problem for me. but the huters ran when they saw me and i got the traders.

had the hunters stayed fought and died the traders would have gotten far enough ahead of me that I would not have been able to cathch up. but because they didnt want to lose 6k exp and 1k hunter exp their buddies lost 60k loot.

and as for suit switching it doesnt really bother me. loot comes and goes. but from a trader point of view it could be worse for them.

now i expect someone to switch suits on me. i wait for it and try to beat them to the goods.

Bleh. I just spent several hours on the strangest, toughest trade runs I've ever hunted. Crazy shit... res scrolls... thieves coming back for loot four times after everyone has died several times... The last run our 65 glave couldn't beat the one with the +5 glavie enough times to convince her to leave us alone and we lost the stuff. Not really in a mood to continue this conversation cause I don't think we have any real important disagreement and I need sleep. Tip of the hat, wag of the finger.

Here's a little tip from a Thief. If you wanna REALLY piss off a 1* popper, buy the cheapest thing there is, and get a lot(but only enough for a 1*). I HATE it when this happens. Now, peeps are gonna kill me for leaking this info.

The only thing worse than a Thief 1* popping a Trader, is a Thief popping another Thief.:P

I've done that quite a few times surprisingly.

That's really fun to do. Being a bad guy knows no bounds.

IMHO 1* popping is smart and creative. It helps you use your brains and not just do mindless grinding.

I've been popped 2x, and the first time I understood the scheme and was impressed.

I'd suggest that instead of whining because traders are being popped, traders (and probably hunters) can instead think of other ways to defend themselves.

FYI, I haven't tried popping but I'm not against it.

i agree one star popping is creative.

the 1 star rule forced the theifs to work with in the system to accomplish their goal. loot.

maybe the traders and hunters should do the same.

My 'creative' hunting method to tackle 1* poppers is to just wander the roads with no job suit on, killing any NPC thieves that I see attacking defenseless traders. Man, do those thieves get pissed off at that... especially when you follow them everywhere and completely ruin every single one of their attempts. I like to say, "It's not fun, is it?" whenever they complain about it. Payback+++

Needless to say, I also res all the innocent newbies that inevitably end up dead as a result of such thoughtless gameplay. I guess people need reminding the job is called "Thief", not "Murderer". ;)

I 1* pop, and though I'm not proud of it, I'm definitely not ashamed. I don't play this game to wait for goods, if I see something to thieve, THOU SHALT BE THIEVED!

you know....i remember when i was soooooooooooo pissed because of all the times when i was 1* popped. wow insane mad...but like the theif's told me...should of had a hunter or take a longer route. when i first 1* popped, it was so funny, i had no idea how much fun it was. and the lil noobies crying...and all the noobies with the lil flower by there name dieing, trying to level up by the lil tigers. it was awesome. had a graveyard full of lvl16 peeps. I like it, and i realize why they do it...no one wants to go above a 1*. i see how it is now..and now that im doing it...its the only way to make money. beats waiting around for hours for a 2* or above.

and here is my first 1* popping adventure.

im not going to paintshop my lvl or my skills (lack there of)...im sure when people PVP me or see my gear...they can pretty much guess what lvl im at. enjoy
