Mercs are part of the game, so +1 to all the users who posted their comments along these lines :).

I dont use them during job wars or trade runs, unless I'm very outnumbered or my opponents used them first. How to get around the merc problem? Use garms. Most players pull out fire mercs, that even a pure int char like mine could tank a lvl 80 player using fire union mercs with ease.

There are ways around mercs. Remember ice imbue/effects can slow down mercs. Flanking them would enable you to only get hit by some of the mercs rather than the full squad. If the user couldnt tank your hits, just zerk and target the merc user. If you have a pet, let your pet attack the user first, taking the merc hits before you have to tank them yourself. In most cases, the best course of action for you to combat a merc user, is to ask for help. So dont go for large trade runs without having other players to back you up.

Sure Merc's is a part of the game. Its just dumb that there is 9 or 11 merc. They could take the numbers down alittle. To like 5 merc for guild and 7 merc for union.

But ye i really hope the use of merc will be less now whit the fortress update. But i dont think so

Use of mercs will more likely go up :). It wont be a problem really. Since its teamplay, just make sure you have a competent rogue or wizard on your team to take out the merc user.

Really..coz according too the globals you and your union were too busy afk botting too even make an appearance at a few "multi stars"..I myself have previously Pm'd you ingame making you aware of "multi stars" with teh blase reply being..we are too busy with lvl up atm..within 1min of that PM I saw you wearing a cape DW sth gate..

anyway ..back on topic..in Athens there is a special peep who pops mercs 24/7 and has the *alias as P_Mercula <--something, silly name I cant remember..and he allways claims hes got mercs for teh hell of popping them..imo ..he is union master with the mercs coz out of all that guild he is weakest and sure as hell needs them..Killer_Sr is just as bad..and on the thief side its FREEBEER and plez with teh merc popping..they all seem too have fun however and mercs are incorperated in the game ..no matter how we feel about them..Joymax arent going too get rid of them anytime soon so we just deal with it I guess

heh
i love this topic...
ppl that using mercs are too weak to handle situation alone... so basicly they are noobs...

i was fighting at the gate for 2months for like 4h every day and trust me there is a lot of noobs on athens...

most of the times i was alone vs 8+ hunters when i started to killing them one by one it always ended wit mercs and insults...

anyway
remember that mercs are for weak... thats all...

its either by being outsmarting someone or just being a coward, weak, scared being pawned that someone would screenie capture him while being pawned. :D or for any other obvious reasons, we dont know.

normaly when someone spawns mercs me (and 2 lvl 80 friends :P) take out snow shield and BOOM they get dead in 10 secs... and the thief starts running away... there are only few thiefs in aege that deserve respect from any hunter.. tygr23, ..... and some euros like 2hot2bot etc, ive been owned/robed by them a few times, but i didnt feel bad at all lol. getting back to the topic, if u cant tank the mercs then go to the safe zone, unsuit and make the asshole go pink/PK.. he will just run away like a headless chicken..

my 2 cents :D

Mercs as a last resort, otherwise it's just boring... Hardly anyone can even get close to us when we trade... Though, I love using them on noobs with dummy unions showing up on job wars with a whole bunch of them. Ohh, sometimes when I feel lazy to fight, I just pop them :P

10 Euro Earth Mercs can be annoying... And it's funny how they so quickly wipe out a whole bunch of chinese mercs... LOL!

do euro mercs actually use euro skills, or do they just use a standard attack, for example do earth use earth shock or something?

I remember once running through constant Ao and I ran into stivy and maybe 10 of his friends, they immidiatly popped snow shields and 8 sets of union mercs for just 2 thieves lmao 40k GP wasted for a trade run that was nearly over

Now that there are no mercs we get stupid things like hunters with full sun gear getting thier traders to disconnect from game because they saw half a dozen thieves even though the hunters outnumberd the thieves dont they know it's a game and they dont really die, they actually log off and stop playing because they are scared of getting robbed

cmon even the hunters who enjoy the fight must snigger at them

I don't think it'd wrong to use mercs, It's simply a game function. I do however think they are over rated and a little to powerful. They should either make spawn limit lower or increae price.
