Did i make the right decision?

Post by the_wicked »

Well i am the leader of a lv 5 guild. Recently my union has totally tanked. Every guild except the two inactive guilds left the union. I was torn between 3 unions. My whole guild wanted to move to different unions.
Then, out of no where, one of my guildmates and best friend IRL tells me he is botting. I really get upset about that. He leaves the guild and goes to a diff union, one which bots heavily. Considering that the only reason i really still play is cuz of my friends, i went with him to that union. Now i've got my old Union master upset with me, my old guild leader upset with me...and a few other friends upset with me. However, i am in a more active union with my IRL friends ( and some guildies that came with). Did i do the right thing?

well in my opinion, i don't think there is really a right or wrong in this situation. i you go in the guild with your friends IRL, that's cool i guess. i am kind of upset with the botting factor but it's your choice whether youwant to be with your friends or stay in your old guild with guild mates i guess. i think that you should probably answer your own question though because i don't think it's makin any sense coming from me lol. as long as your having fun though, i guess it's ok. but yea, this is really how you feel about it i guess so i think it would be easier if you found the answer to your question but no need to listen to me. i''m just some random asian guy 8)

You sure are in a difficult position. If I was you, I think I might of left with my friend too. But then again I might not of have... And do you have many irl friends that are in that guild?

Since my friends are my motivation for this game, i would of gone and stuck with the best of them. Personally u did the right thing. Give it time and all thsoe who are mad at you will calm down and you will still be able to keep those friendships.

You definitely did the right thing. Real life friends are much more important. And who cares if you are in a union that has botters? As long as you do not bot thats what counts right?

I guess you see now what I meant about Real Life > Ingame? I think you did the right thing.. friends before e-people. And I don't mean to be rude but- wtf was Buki thinking, leaving the union to mano? :banghead:
Kinda sad that the union Hunny and Buki worked so hard for got brought down by one of the most asshole-ish people on the server.

Anyway.
Whatever makes you happy- as long as you're keeping your guild togather. What would halo say if you let his babeh go to hell? Lolz. :P

Edit:

....>_>
Welcome to the union? o_O

two, and the other one was leaving too.

but yea....Im not sure why everyone got so mad at me. Besides the inactivity of the union, im just following my friends...and its not like im botting with them.

edit: lolz @ ito XD

edit again: union was never left to mano. We actually didnt pick a new leader for a long time. Eversong is runnng it now.

to bad mano isnt the leader of the union as far as tonite that i know of...

ive told friends in my life to got to hell for things they have done and never spoke again.... it doesnt bother me, and your choice is yours... why worry about if people are mad at you.... ever wonder how many more are disappointed? In my experience people who are mad get over it, disappointed takes some time.

I knew it would happen sooner or later, once CL left things got much much worse. What makes me a tad mad is, at the point before CL left we still had opportunities to rebuild, but now we're pretty much fcuked. At least we can continue our bot hunting :D

Personally..I wouldn't of left for a union that isn't 100% legit, if anything I'd join Bukis union or metroids union...or go solo/quit.

and lol @ ito

Even tho real life > in game friends, what your real life friend does in real life is a reflection of who he is as a person. By botting, he is showing weakness of character. I dunno how good of friends you are, but you should definitely discourage that kind of behavior in your friends.

i noticed the same thing, bot guilds/unions are way more friendly, active and talkative...definately miss VANITY...one of few reasons i miss Olympus
Chinese INT: S/S lvl 80 Fully Farmed<retired>
EURO: Wizard/Cleric lvl 56 (Fully Farmed to 80) <retired>
Chinese STR: Glavie lvl 71 (93k sp) <retired>

he is botting because he wants to play the game and get to a higher lvl, while still keeping up with school, friends, work. He doesn't have the time to actually play otherwise :(

I have to agree with what Yasakira said ^^
And as long as your having fun is also what counts aswell.
And if the guild is more active, all the more fun and activities are to be had!
My last guild..we didn't do much together and there was 2 kids that got under my skin so bad>.<"...

Since my IRL friends don't play and i have some close net friends who play, and i follow them where ever they go.
If they bot, well id be a bit angry too, but i'm not going to disown them for that. So i completely understand where you are coming from.

furthermore, bot guilds aint as up-themselves as legits just purely because legits think they're above and beyond for grinding 24/7 in front of da comp and way superior than botters.

back to the topic:

virtual friends = nobodies once you turn off your comp
real life friends = buddies who you go out with after you turn off your comp therefore means there's life beyond SRO...

there's no dilemma with your situation at all !

The one thing i am worried about is making enemies with my old union, considering that me leaving pretty much destroys any hope of rebuilding...I dont want them to harbor any anger towards me>.<
I mean, what if i decide that i don't like where i am and want to go back? if they harbor any negative feelings, how could i ever get along without feeling their anger/hatred/ w/e it is.

That's not true at all. Hell, 90%+ of the bots on Greece think they're up and above because they bot. I don't think I'm better than the botters, but I think I'm a lot less selfish and inconsiderate.

@Albel
You'll always have a spot in PE, and our chances of rebuilding were pretty slim anyway. Some people may get angry/mad but I think it's time to face the fact that the union is dead. The guilds dispersed and the only way to pick up the slack is to merge the remaining guilds and join a new legit union.

I'm already in the same boat.. Some times think they are saying bad things about me, after leaving one guild and joining this other guild that is more active.. Calling it a botter guild.. >.<" But w/e im happy here with my buddies and we do things together and have fun.. But its always good to keep contact with a few guildmates and to let them know why you left and and let them understand that this is your IRL friend and you just can't abandon them :X.. this is just a choice they made on this game.. it IS a game after all..
