DDoS attacks

Post by Casey613 »

JoyMax must get those pretty much daily, but what is weird is the fact that no-one has sent a really big one, I mean.. there must be at least one fed up guy who has the guts to do it..

Most Modems and Routers block those. Thats why you cant get a successfull ping to silkroadonline.net or tracert same with my ip. I would imagine that Silkroad Online have some up to date software and hardware to stop that as well.

Well DDOS attacks aren't limited to ICMP pings. You could at least attempt to perform a DDOS attack on any port or service that is listening on the server. I'm sure Joymax has IDS equipment in place to detect these things and firewalls to help prevent them. However, firewalls won't necessarily stop attacks on ports that are allowed through the firewall. The IDS should still detect it though and warn an admin of the activity.
