I have a trust fund, a healthy one, and I play silkroad.

There arent "better" games out there, there are just subscription based games out there. Most of them are over monitored and scrubbed clean for "family" type viewing.

BLECH

One of the things I like about SRO is being able to say, "HEY YOU, EFF OFF!!" *pk*

Open PVP in several different mediums and situations from fully no penalty all the way to pretty serious penalty, all the time, everywhere. That is quite unusual in MMOs and it keeps pulling me back in. lol

1. Players buying gold

2. Players buying silk

One shouldnt even be encouraged nor justified. Its against the rules. That should be more than enough to say no to. We can go into more details on how it kills the server (by encouraging more gold bots etc) but you get the idea.

The other is part of the game. If players want to spend an arm and a leg to enjoy the game, so be it. The option is there, plus you're actually helping JM make more money so developing the game better (though you can argue here ;) ).

So dont mix the two distinctly separate issues.

Actually, you're helping joymax by supporting gold bots. Because of gold bots, players can't play, so they get premium every month. Premium = worth more than occasional astral/immortal. Thus, gold bots help joymax profit. So, an argument can be made in any manner.

If the economy wasn't as screwed up as it is, people wouldn't buy as much gold. And if gold wasn't being bought/sold, then the market wouldn't be so screwed up. It's a vicious cycle.

And in addition, last point, not all gold companies use gold bots. There are one or two that BUY gold off players and sell for double the price, hence making a profit. Meaning, people who stall continuously CAN make money off the game.
I need power level of a euro lvl 12 account. 200K per hour (oasis)

There are few groups of ppl really.
Those who hate gold buyer.
Those who hate silk buyer (Yes they exist, especially against ppl who buy ALOT of silk).
Those who think its ok as long as u have fun.

I myself is not against any of it.

I think SRO is like a hobby, you play it because u like it, u got addicted and start paying. Just like other hobbies ppl had, once they r obsessed with it, they would spend alot on it.

It is illegal to buy gold and unfair. Heck yes because JM say so.
Y didn't they ban gold buyers then? Ban demand, not supply.

If you want so much of fairness then GT, PT and the pet you have is already an advantage u had over others.

pow****vel.com offers hand grind. What difference is it from bots?
Difference is you won't get banned.

There is a fact we have to accept. Those with $$$ dominates the game. JM allow such things to happen and all we do is fight over each other over our own opinion and values.

Just get along n b nice to every1...? That would b a perfect SRF.

Uhm, I'm not really arguing for/against anything. Just wanted to make a point that the two things should be considered independently ie players who buy gold, and players who buy silk.

Gold bots shouldnt be there in the first place o_0 If traffic is the stimulus to get more players buying premium, I would rather have active, talking players rather than a gold bot. But to get that many legit players in any server, you have to solve the gold bot / botting problem, make the server playable.

Bleh... who cares how much somebody wastes on the game?

My current silk history:
2006
Nyahgis2: 350 silk
Nyahgis: 3700 silk

2007
Nyahgis2: 6700 silk
Nyahgis: 4750 silk

Total silk: 15500 silk

so 1550USD that I know of. I've had more accounts on the side of this, one of which I know I blew 500USD as well, so that puts my silk buying at about 2000USD.

Some people CAN and DO make very good money.

I don't watch tv...I don't need a bigscreen
I don't drive much...I don't need a ferrari
I don't take whiny bit***s out to eat at fancy restaurants in hopes of a sugarkiss

I play silkroad on my free time
I go fishing.
I snowboard
I Play piano

Fishing gear costs over 5k
Snowboarding gear costs about 3k
My keyboard costs over 8k

I play silkroad the most
I've spent 1k

You do the math for Time/Fun/Money

I don't support Gold Buying because that's one of the reasons why the servers are so crowded.

I do buy silk.. But I only buy things that I really need... like Tickets.

What's the worst thing that might happen to you is to spend $10k on your char just to get hacked...

I set my limit at around 20-30 pound a month, though I rarely go above 15 (300 credits gets me what I need, unless I buy premium).

That equates to 360 pound, which is 720 dollars roughly, a year.

I can live with that, I make that 15 pound in just over an hours work.
