I'm not sure if school has anything to do with it, but in the past, it becomes less of a hassle to log in when summer ends or begins to end.

Oh smart guy so u google *How to use bot*?
anyone with decent interest in this game will want to know what a bot is and yes google is the way to find your info. no need for the whole "smart-guy-comments" i believe anyone with an average IQ will know what to use as search terms.
Right...If low IQ guys dont use search why u use it then
Voted by me to be the worst comeback I've seen in awhile LOL.

Quick reminder it is rogue. Maybe that char model uses alot of rouge but I don't think so.
They would say that because of the group they put themselves in. They are the least qualified to make accurate assessments. Basically it goes like this. Legits hate bots. Legits shun bots. Legits and bots segregate themselves. The small group of legits note how most over 50 bot seeing as they only see their own members and a few odd other people actually playing the game. The botters are in with other botters and rarely see what is to them an identifiable legit player. Trick is they would not know how to identify a legit player as they don't play legitly themselves to know. Therefore to them everyone=bot and they=justified in botting. And I gotta tell you they make up some doosey excuses to convince themselves they don't bot. I had one swear up and down that he was not a bot when I called him on it. Said he had never botted. I was like ok whatever. Next day I talk to a friend in his guild. And my friend confirmed the guy had never botted. That he got to 80 legit. At this point I was like ok WTF?! Not 5 sentances later in the conversation my friend tells me the guy just botted to farm. I had to hold up back up the truck there and say doesn't that conflict with your assertion that he never botted? To whit my friend said nope. And I sat there gobsmacked at how little it takes a botter to convince himself he never botted. And others for that matter. Having said that I know my friend has not botted even having spent such a short time in that guild. He has had alot of luck in the game and never needed to bot. With that luck he does not understand why people get so upset about botting. Everything he has he got easy because of lucky drops etc. The rest of us have to work hard our entire SRO career to end up with even a fraction of what he has. But enough of this tangent.
About all botters being teenagers. Almost every single botter I know is over 20 years old. I know some teen botters and they are a demographic that readily adopts botting as it fits their need structure. ME ME ME. And as fast as possible with as little effort as possible. But frankly maturity is something in short supply even in adults. So don't count them out.
And finally it is not typically the player bots that clog the servers. It is the gold and item farming bots that are really ruining the game atm. And it is because of them we see very few player bot bans. It has nothing to do with buying silk. If you had an issue with 90% of the servers population being bots and 2/3 of them were easy to identify farm bots and 1/3 were harder to identify player bots where would logic dictate to begin? With the 2/3 of course. Granted it is a chicken and the egg problem. Take out the gold farm bots and they just make new ones as there is demand for gold. Take out the bot players and they make new bot char and just need to buy more gold to keep going. Therefore gold bots increase. Joymax needs to get some working "server side" security and some authority/balls to ban. Lets see them circumvent server side security. That will be a lot harder.

I dont think we can judge the charachter of the person who bots. Botting is just an (illegal) alternative to handgrind. People cheat in anything in life, doesnt mean they are immature, or immoral. It just means they cheat whatever the reasons may be.

Heh, no no xD I was just pointing out that we cant judge ones charachter simply by their actions in game. I think I just quoted you to try and answer your question.

yeah ping_lo is as usual correct
most new botters just started because the risks to be banned were so incredible low, with the big banlist joymax scared some but the usual addict simply restarted.
i personally believe you can create a balance between the players and the money farmers. you can never stop bots but you can at least balance the game and grind spots to make it possible for anyone to level up with fast speed. i pity anyone stuck in their level 30 to 50 get a horse and check those areas are infested with bots.
@Tigerlein thanks for proving my point.

indeed but for any solo grinder out there it is still a nightmare, for example anyone who just started the game or just joined a new server without bringing/having some friends.

maybe not BUT i still think it says something about a persons drive...
I really don't know why someone can bot... I can't imagine it gives satisfaction when you reach 80 without doing anything yourself... Ok you are strong etc. but doesn't that get boring? There is no drive anymore...
I'm 80 and i grinded every tiny exp. point myself, i have accomplished this myself and it was not a walk in the park. I'm proud of it and happy i made it this far and enjoy every tiny bit of my character. I made him, i raised him, i've seen it die and level, i know it inside out. It's made by me and not produced and then given in the end.
Botters will never get my respect, i even respect a bad and weak, but by hand, created level 80 more then a full sun botted character
Botters are just people who wanna be the best in something without doing anything and that, boys and girls, is not how life works...
Just compare it with taking doping as a sports man...
Look at the Danish winner of the tour the france who admitted he used doping... his yellow shirt is in a box in his garage somewhere... I don't know any legit Tour de France winner who does that...

[quote="achmalach"]Botters are just people who wanna be the best in something without doing anything/quote]
I read a quote here over a year ago. It simply said "people are always looking for the i win button, whether it is in life or sro". Its so true though. So many people have never realized true pain. So many people have their normal lives and have never felt the satisfaction of over coming something that no normal person could deal with.
Our society is full of selfish tools. Always looking for someone to do the work for them, so they can have what they want without any effort. But doing something yourself is what life is about.
Whats the point of living is someone is going to do everything for you? There is none. The purpose of life is to enjoy the experiences and challenges that are presented to you, and over coming them is the measure of a person.
Lets take SRO as a metaphor for life. You have people who will get to lvl 80 legit, who will enjoy the journey of getting there. They are the people who usually go for in life, the ones with determination. But people who bot dont get any satisfaction out of life. They are thew ones who go through life with no purpose, getting people to do things for them and never actually really achieving anything.
Now i have gone completely off track

Games can be a metaphor for life, and life can be a game for some
Out of sight, out of mind, here comes the real world.
Others bury themselves in the game, even deeper. A more comfortable reality so to speak. Maybe something worth exploring, but I digress from the topic as well xD.
Note of interest: What we visualize in the "real world" is only 20~40% of what we actually see, the rest is recalled/fabricated from our memories, speeding up recognition/cognitive process (taken from Neuroscience research). One can argue that the "real world" is fabricated, and exist only in our minds.

Games can be a metaphor for life, and life can be a game for someit really depends how you see it, or choose to see or believe. How you choose to act in a game can be different to how you act in real life, cause some might view their experience in-game as dispensable. The moment the monitor is off, it doesnt exist.

Some nice ideas there.
It's true the world is filtered to suit our ideas/comfort us. But the real life game rules can not be bend.
At the other way, someone can not set his personality on and off like a switch. Even if you play online in a virtual enviroment you still are the same person playing that character. Thus your RL actions will be refelected in a way into your character. That is if you spend enough time with it.
I still believe that the way you are in a game reflects your character or what you 'want to be / try once' without having consequences (a thief eg.)
jabbers wrote:lol well im not going to cheat on my wife or cheat at poker night with my friends or something because I cheated in silkroad online, I'm not exactly sure where you were going with that?
Indeed no one is claiming that to be the case. Children see everything in black and white. Any mature adult knows their are shades of gray. Just as they also know that there is right and wrong. Just because you cheat at an online game does not make you a pedophile or rapist in real life. It also does not justify it.
Everyone feels that they have to reach cap and have all the best gear before the game gets any fun. Truth is you can have fun at any lvl with any gear. It is not a crime to be low lvl. If only those that earned their lvl were their lvl then there would be alot less reason to bot etc. Sure a 60ish player could not own an 80 but 80's would be so rare as to not be an issue. Well I say that but that is only if there were a universal maturity. Still some would bot just to be maxed if for no other reason and then we are where we are.
Cheating on a single player game eh that is a non issue. Cheating on any social action like MMOS etc while not quite the same as cheating on your wife/girlfriend/mistress is still self serving, immature, and childish. Showing a need to overcompensate for real life and an unhealthy interest in the game far more so than those that actually play for several hours a day. Because no matter what botters say they don't bot because they have a life. Reality goes like this. You have a life you don't give a shit if you are max lvl etc in a game. Why? Because you have a life. To a botter being the max lvl in the game is everything. Why? Because they have no life and still can't invest enough time in game with their every free waking moment. I don't care if you have school, work, whatever. It just is not an excuse.
