There's nothing wrong with it. Its seems its how Joymax wanted it to go based on other versions. If Joymax thought it was a problem, I think it would have been addressed by now. Its more of a way for you to kill red mobs faster. Its not like you couldn't powerlevel before the update. Party mobs just made it easier. Why else would else would they allow others to help you do quest or accept quest for red mobs. The faster people level up and work cooperatively, the faster they can get to high level and enjoy the game. And of course, more money for JM since people are buying silk to level up even faster. I only see it as a problem if people are tracing bots and leveling up that way.

JM did made changes to the auto share pt system, making it harder for players to pwrlvl (but still could). Its not the speed of lvling per se that is under scrutiny here, but the deliberate use of a high lvl char to powerlvl a low level char (that is passive, ie tracing). It is the community's perception that I am trying to sample, not the opinion of JM of whether it is or isnt pleasing to their customers. All your opinions are welcomed though, I'll try my best to refrain from shooting them down :/.

I think what sucks is that bots can do it so much faster and continuously like always, other then that, I think theres nothin really that wrong about powerleveling I mean if someone gets high lvl and wants to spend their time taking low lvls in share parties and sharing their exp with em thats fine, but the parting is just easy to exploit and lvl much faster for lower lvls the way it is, if they got exp that was more equivalent to the highest lvl in the party it would make more sense I think, that way if like a lvl 80 goes to lvl 40 things powerleveling a bunch of 20s then they would only get what? 100s of exp? lol, they would need to goto takla where the higher lvl gets decent exp to share among the nubs, so then they would definatly lvl faster for getting much more exp then they should at low lvls but its not as fast as say a lvl 20 as strong as a lvl 80 killing lvl 40 hings getting tons of exp.

You know the majority of new players quit before they make it to 40. Thats many potential customers gone. Get them to high and give them a reason to buy silk. Making the game easier to level brings more appeal to the game.Valamathras wrote:Hot damn you people make me sick. Of all the shit I've heard today takes the cake. Yea, they don't want powerleveling. Thats why I can now accept quest on mobs 10 levels higher than me because they don't want powerleveling...
Its not like the low level areas of the game weren't destroyed already. Gold bots run rampant in low level areas and that certainly isn't very inviting to a new customers or current customers to buy silk. Not to mention that its not even guaranteed that you will get an sos drop. You can grind mobs at any level and quest are not an issue. The only time most people even read the full description of the story behind a quest was the Chinese Tutorial quest.
Once powerleveling is no longer possible people can always grind together. Grinding together for that xxx amount exp is much more fun than grinding alone for it. It seems most of the people being powerleveled have high level characters or know friends that do so gold is not much of an issue.
Every month or so, someone says the game is going to die. Looks like its still going strong to me.
The game is really just a big PvP system. Botters pretty much destroyed it making it pretty hard, but not impossible to have fun below level 72. After you done everything a level 80 can, its pretty hard sitting at the cap by yourself while some of your legit friends struggle to make it to 60. At least you can finally help them out a bit. I've been in many legit guilds and its pretty much all the same. Everyone talks a lot at low levels because the exp rate isn't that bad and the sp demands aren't too much. Sometimes we would grind in a share pt just because it was fun grinding together. Once you start to get to higher levels, it becomes much harder to level. Some friends quit, start botting, continue to level fast, level slower, etc. Powerleveling ensures that you can legitly help your friends get to a [i]decent]/i] level to bring back fun times. Sure botters can exploit this also but there isn't anything else in the game that they haven't already.
It may take some value from the time that others and I spent hand grinding our characters in the pass, but if it means I can bring back fun times with my friends without a third party program, or violating the ToS, I'm all for it. Let me know when JM releases an official statement saying this is a bug exploit or w/e, because last time I checked, bug exploitation is a bannable offense. I'll happily stop leveling friends and vice versa.

I voted 'no'
I already discussed as to why, but after 2 weeks of Euro play and now seeing this
Is just no fun at all.
next week all the powerleveled Euro players are 70+ and can keep pvping untill 90 cap comes =.=
blabla so many reasons, its just cheap, no fun, its just for people who think its a MUST to be high level. You spend only a few hours in a grind area then move to other mobs, you dont get to know the game. The players that actually like the new leveling system / party play have less players to play with. Its abusing the leveling system, Euro is not intended this way. Its intended to play with people from ur own level and having some energy put in your character and leveling instead of one shotting every blue party mob thats exactly 11 levels higher than ur Euro noob char.
Party play is awesome and now its actually fun to play the entire game instead of jobbing until ur bored.

Go back to basics.
The reason botting is discouraged from SRO, is because it destroys the balance ingame, and upsets the legit community. Ask yourself why you get upset when others bot? I bet its for exactly the same reason why you get upset when others get powerleveled.
The only difference between botting and powerleveling, is that doing one will get you a ban, the other wont. That doesnt make it right though. The outcome/impact is the same regardless of the method you use.
My intentions in starting this thread is purely for self reflection. Its easy to get lost sometimes in our actions, that it pays to stop and think of the impact it has to those around us.

As said by Da_Realest (I dunno howta use this dern quoting thingy
)
1. Ever considered once u have an excellent party you can handle much tougher mobs. Take a chinese char good equips can grind on mobs say 8lvls higher. By time euro chars get good lvls their buffs will be madness allowing grinding on much harder mobs so you can do higher lvl quests. Also im sure they would really want you doing your quests strapped to someones ass while you watch tv.
2.If they gave 2 hoots about making the game more enjoyable im sure it would'nt be through the use of plvls. Where does it stipulate on the forum engage in no combat by sitting on a horse behind your high lvl friend. Also in making it more "inviting" they'd get rid of the gold bots which to my knowledge they did fairly well on when the update came around. Hence they tried making it more enjoyable. They just need to be more consistent with it.
3.Well obviously SOX aint guaranteed, but Ill bet my ironclad bottom your GUARANTEED to not find one sitting behind some 70-80 boon killin bunwangs and penons for ya.
The point to being high lvl is supposed to be an achievement not a godam right. Everyone starting the game is not supposed to have one. Your supposed to work at it, ATTAIN it, pay for your silk. I remember when I started playing a 6x would roll in (started around 70 cap last may) and I'd be awestruck, inspired have you. Figured wow he must've put alot of time and effort into that. Later I learnt of bots and wasn't as easily impressed anymore. Now everyone and their grandma has a 7x and expects one lol. I'm just saying if you want one do it right. I was taught principles and would never think twice of taking shortcuts like that. But I suppose the majority wants to be the 1st to have everything
Can't take the grind? Stop whining WoW's over there
Im'a be breakin my phalanges and carpels up to 90 even if I'm the godam last one. (granted nearly quit while back but I seen the light) Dont take shortcuts a thief'll jump ya :p

Its a part of the game. Let people do it until the day its banned. I wanted to powerlevel my other char. But its so boring to run around killing low-lvl mobs, its not that fast either if you are alone with the other char in a party.

Alot of people feel guilty for turning down guild/friends/union mates. Think of this the next time you start annoying someone with it. Also, there is a reason for them beign higher level then you. They have put alot of time into their character and maybe you should too.
Power leveling I do not agree with and I would rather party, but right now 80% of Euro is empty because everyone is already 40+ or being power leveled.
I am guilty as well and I hopped on my main to powerlevel my Euro, i just got sick of finding no parties or soloing slowly.
I can only hope 40+ there is less power lvling ()
As long as a lvl80 can kill a 20 mob and give a lvl 9 exp, powerlvling will not stop.
"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Isn't euro made for party based grinding? Doesn't powerleveling totally skip grinding and move only to pvp? i think it doesn't make much sense, other than that the person being powerleveled is just too lazy to grind. botters are also too lazy too grind, and only play for pvp. there's similarities between the two but there's nothing legitimantly wrong with powerleveling. I myself think it's just stupid because euro was made for party grinding, and all everyone is doing is getting powerleveled to the cap and pvping.

Its funny that you say upset the "legit community" since many in this legit community are doing it. There is a difference between powerleveling and botting depending on the person. If a person is voluntary grinding the xp for you then its nothing wrong with it.Sylhana wrote:Go back to basics.

Besides, it doesn't matter what the players think whats right and wrong. Joymax designs the rules of whats right and wrong in this game. If Joymax say botting is legal, then in this game, there is nothing wrong with botting. On a side note, I would quit this game if botting became legal but thats beside the point.
And if you want to talk about "balance" in game which has already been tarnished, I could always start a debate on the issue of balance for silk buyers vs. non-silk buyers, botters vs. legits, racial conflicts. etc.
Find me a Euro party thats actually partying to level up and I'll happily level with them. Nobody in my level range parties. Most of the time I solo on my Warlock and my friends only level me when they have time or feel like it.Valamathras wrote:1. Nobody grinds mobs 8 levels higher unless they have a sos or higher weapon and even then its rare. Grinding red mobs in a party with good gear might be feasible but I don't think it was really intended that way since the ability to do quest on red mobs was implemented before the European race was even announced on ksro if I remember correctly.
By the way, I'm never afk or doing anything else while playing sro, so you can remove the whole watching t.v notion. My mistake if you were speaking in general.
Can you find where it says don't do it?Valamathras wrote:2.If they gave 2 hoots about making the game more enjoyable im sure it would'nt be through the use of plvls. Bots aren't the turn off for most that come to Silkroad since just about all free games have bots, but its the grind that causes players to quit.
I guess you made the wrong bet then. A friend found a lvl 45 female sos garment hood while his guild master was powerleveling him at bunwangs. I didn't find a sos but I found a 52+2 warlock rod while at penons which is pretty nice.Valamathras wrote:3.Well obviously SOX aint guaranteed, but Ill bet my ironclad bottom your GUARANTEED to not find one sitting behind some 70-80 boon killin bunwangs and penons for ya.
It still is an achievement. More power to the man/woman who leveled up all by himself/herself, without silk, etc. Although, even with powerleveling, it still would take a bit of time to reach level 60 if you got a legit player who's helping you level. And I like I stated earlier, its not like they can be powerleveled forever. They're going to have to level themselves sooner or later and those players at cap will still be revered since they hand grinded the rest of the way to the cap or all the way. Well, at least some of them did.Valamathras wrote:The point to being high lvl is supposed to be an achievement not a godam right. Everyone starting the game is not supposed to have one. I'm not advocating powerleveling or anything. Although I could careless if it was removed or not since I would level up legitly regardless. In the game's current state, the positives of powerleveling outweigh the negatives.

Bots aren't the turn off for most that come to Silkroad since just about all free games have bots, but its the grind that causes players to quit.I guess you made the wrong bet then. A friend found a lvl 45 female sos garment hood while his guild master was powerleveling him at bunwangs. I didn't find a sos but I found a 52+2 warlock rod while at penons which is pretty nice.Valamathras wrote:3.Well obviously SOX aint guaranteed, but Ill bet my ironclad bottom your GUARANTEED to not find one sitting behind some 70-80 boon killin bunwangs and penons for ya.It still is an achievement. But I suppose the majority wants to be the 1st to have everythingCan't take the grind? Stop whining WoW's over there
Im'a be breakin my phalanges and carpels up to 90 even if I'm the godam last one. (granted nearly quit while back but I seen the light) Dont take shortcuts a thief'll jump ya :p
I'm not advocating powerleveling or anything. Although I could careless if it was removed or not since I would level up legitly regardless. In the game's current state, the positives of powerleveling outweigh the negatives.
Why can't you be like a normal person and write in black?

@Da_Realest
Many ppl are doing it (powerleveling), yet many are also upset.
As I said, its not the powerleveler (means) but the powerleveled (outcome) that is the problem.
The balance isnt completely tarnished. At least botters get banned. Powerleveled chars wont (so the imbalance will be greater)
People wont quit the game because handgrinding is hard. People will quit the game because all their efforts in handgrinding dont get appreciated/rewarded. They look around and see players with high level chars (however that mightve been achieved).
At the end of the day, we are all entitled to our opinions. Whats important is that we self reflect the choices we make.

in the end it just ends up showing which people are too lazy to grind their own characters.
powerlevelling a lowbie a few levels so that you can properly grind with the rest of the group is acceptable to me tho... whereas people who powerlevel their characters up to like... 40 or higher (and miss out on the actual party grinding on euro) is really what bothers me. the players basically just end up creating a high lvl character with minimal effort, to use for pvp and jobbing...
euro is definitely a much more 'involved' aspect of silk.. and if you're really not up to spending a lot of time grinding with similar levels... then i think those people should just stick with playing their chinese characters.

LOL D2A is an abbreviation of Devils' Advocate.
This issue runs along the same lines as 1 star popping, PK2 editing and scamming. If JM decides it is illegal, they will fix it, do something about it, or make it against the rules. Till then, the debate is useless. If you are so against it, put your concerns in the form of a bug report then go drag mobs on AFK Euro chars.
This thread reads like the classic argument of the "haves" and the "have nots". The "haves" say, "Look what I got!" and the "have nots" say, "That's not fair!". All you can do is make a choice for yourself based on what you think is right and stick with it.

Well, I doubt JM is against pwrleveleing. Now you can use GT in auto.-share pts. 80-s have nothing to do except kill uniques and pwrl everyone in their academy, since jobbing is pretty dead already. Forbidding academy leaders to party with their pupils wouldnt help either, since 2 leaders could simply switch and power each others pupils. Thats not what academy was meant to be.
Powerleveling is against the spirit of the game, but since you can reach level 40 without even hitting one mob, doing one quest, buying one pot it will surely continue. Why do I get the feeling that JM is so lost regarding the development of their game, that they always fix a problem and create 2 new ones in the process.
