In ksro there is a stall system, where you can look for a certain item of a certain type and gender. Although it wouldn't get rid of stallers completely, it would make their goods sold quicker and hence less afk stallers.
Also leading to more competitive pricing as well.
Many stallers rely on what they advertise in their stall name to attract a potential buyer, often that item is over-priced, and there may well be a stall right next to the one your currently browsing that offers an item that has better stats for cheaper, but doesn't advertise it, and chances are you wouldn't browse anyways having purchased the more expensive one.
Many people do not even take the time to run around a town doing price/stat comparisons on what they want...
I feel that with this kind of system that it will help drive down prices..
