If I ever make an MMORPG; first offense: IP Ban, but before that, a little "update" would be downloaded into that individual's PC.

*whistles*

IP ban ? That would be a joke for dynamic IP users and unfair for static IP users lol. Either way there are proxies

.. goes into modem setup, resets connection, assigned new ip.. connects to sro .. good game joymax and ip bans. Ip bans don't work.

*Remembers the days of evading and flooding on irc* ... good times ^^

wierd.. on irc you can use bots to pwn also.. flood bots :D <33

For gods sake, im only 3x After 1 and a half days.
Yep, its a thing called school. I get time to go on computers, and i use it on srf. so stfu.

Level 3x in 1.5days + School + SRF = bad lie.
You bot, We caught you, you got owned.

agree on that one.
botters can now just make their new char and
bot with it some more. if their ip is banned they
will not be playing this game at all anymore

Most people have renewable ip's though. And what if they just buy a new computer because they're gaywads?
They should ban char & ip.
They should also make some sort of unremovable file that makes it so if you were banned once, you can never play again. Even if you get new ip, even if you make new account.
Although they can always buy a new computer...

well.. about that IP ban its quiet hard since u could just change ur IP adress, but think about this:

my mom downloads 1hour demo games and plays em.. after that she cannot play em anymore cause they save her harddrive stuffs u know.

so why not block the harddrive stuffs instead of the iIP?

block harddrive + account people wont go to a friends house to start off a new char unless theyre so dam addicted that they will do anything to make the life of sro even harder  *dream*

Actually today I downloaded the demo of Bus Driver, a 1 hour trial version.

I liked the game, the demo time ended, but within 15 minutes I found a crack so I can play the full version of the game without a time limit now :P

Point is, you can crack that stuff too. Then Joymax would need a program that blocks stuff like cracks too. But why not make a client check in the first place then

Let me tell you 1 thing.

Crackers are x10 smarter than the people who make the stuff they crack. Reverse engineering is hard stuff ;)

1. MAC addresses can be changed just as easily.
2. MAC addresses are only known on LAN level, they stop at the first router they encounter. The SRO server does not get my MAC information.

+1

The SRO servers most likely wouldn't even see your router's mac address. The only thing they should see is the mac addresses of any other system that happens to be sitting on their IP subnet.

if they can track modded clients that sure would be great news but after the xian/aege clean up i expect them to do the same thing on all servers
that is already a big thumb up for joymax if they could finish what they just started.
losing a char no matter if you botted or not it is still a time waste and sure will be good for joymax wallet.

If they do got smarter, I assume the rest of the servers will get a ban list in the near future.

I really hope they took notice of our reactions when publishing the xian and aege lists. If so, they won't make anythings public untill they have gone through all the servers.

I don't know what it takes to make people understand that it is not joymax that is the casue of all this. No one forced anyone to start botting. We are the ones who are responsible for what is happening, you can't blame your own actions on someone else. The more people resorting to botting, the harder it will be to deal with it. As I see it, you don't actually like this game if you bot. Who wants to be a part of a problem that eventually will bring silkroad down, if they truly did enjoy the game?

i do agree with you but since the last big update (taklamakan/cap 80) i noticed a lot of people hand grind including all my buddies on redsea
all of them were close to 70 or already 70
when they hit 72 and half of the other players around them on previous cap hit 75/76 and the sun started to drop amazingly and after numerous bot reports and joymax doing nothing visible all just started to bot, because there is a lack of banning it did have nothing with time problems but more with mental weakness (or however you should call it)

indirectly you can blame joymax for it just because of their lack of banning or actually helping those few legits.
but i am amazed that they actually gave the 1 day ticket after last delay, so who knows what is next.
