just thinking about status effects

Post by Demarthl »

player inflicted ones.

Frosbitten, Burn, Shock...

and how typically cliche their effects are. so while kicking the crap out of yeti's I pondered what could be better then their current effects, which are;

Frosbitten status - no damage dealt, slowed move rate
Frozen Status - unmovability, attacks cancelled
Burn status - minor burn damage
Shock Status - parry reduce (damage received minutely increased)

other then frozen being obviously unchangeable i came up with the following;

Frosbitten - slowed moving + HP drain increase depending on level of effect and time effected.

what is frostbite, it's where your body is exposed to cold climates for so long parts of your body semi-freeze, but in long term you can take serious injuries by being frostbitten, including losing fingers, toes, your crown jewels and nose! they also go black, which means the flesh is dead : S

Burn status - HP drain effect level reliant + MP drain effect leve reliant.

the human (or inhuman for you demons) are the same as computers, we need to keep cool to work efficiently, if we get too hot we dehydrate, similar to losing stamina, as in SRO our stamina is based on MP for skills and magic attacks this would be the best relaint source for the effect, and of course, fire burns, burn hurts = damage.

shock status - effective reliant skill damage reduce, random skill cancel, damage received increase.

has anyone been shocked? it hurts doesnt it. has anyone had a constant current run through their body that would seem similar to the effect in SRO? I have, it messes with your reaction times, ie, defense reduce, you cant focus, attack reduce, and if the shock is strong enough it can move your muscles, like a twitch, random skill cancel.

that was a tricky one to figure out but i think its rather ingenious.

just my pondering while smacking elephants anyway. tallyho!
