Trading In-Game Gold for Real Money?
Trading In-Game Gold for Real Money?
Good or bad?
I took a long break. 4 months of jSRO, 2 months of no SRO.
I level up slow because either..
A) I decide to have fun instead of grinding
B) I am SP Farming
C) I keep on getting killed
there should be a yes/no option there, it can be nice as they supply vital items to the players who dont like paying with real money
and no because its an easy way to get through the game (although they do supply a service).
therefore I vote dont care as there is no yes/no option

Ever heard of a game called wow? See how ruined the economy is in it due to this. I think it is a cheap way to make gold. Take some time and learn the economy then undersell your competitors and profit for yourself.
By useing basic economics in a game world you can make all the gold you will ever need. It just takes some time and patiance.

People who spend DAYS or WEEKs to get that much money are GEEKS!
RACIST!! (Well.. sort of). How dare you insult us geeks!? Next time you need tech support look forward to being told "have you checked it's plugged in" over and over, for four hours. Followed by "have you turned it off and on?", for the next six... You've just crossed the line buddy and remember we're the people who fix ATM machines... Just think, plastic is stronger than human flesh.. we can make the machine eat cards.. do you REALLY want to risk putting your fingers near that now..?
Any way.
I'd say it's fine, except it's abused by Chinese gold farmers and similar people out for profit ignoring the economy. So because of this I'd say gold farming and selling is wrong. People should work for their money and not just spend real money to get it.

They won't be useless, heck profits may even go up a bit....and you still don't have to pay to do trade runs

At the base i'm against all real money to in game transactions. I don't believe it is fair or justifiable. Just think about it, almost any justification you can apply to buying in game gold/items to sell for in game gold can be used for botting, most are against that.
ie:
I buy monkeys and sell them because I don't have the time to do trade runs. I have a life.
I use a bot because I don't have the time to level up. I have a life.
However, this game relies on people to buy their items to keep the servers running. Because of this it's something everyone has to live with. What I think would be best is if they restrict the items to only the account they were bought on. That way no one could buy 20 exp tickets in the goal of trading it for in game money.
Personally, I haven't bought anything but I have accepted items from the item shop as gifts. Why? It's unjust as it is, and as long as it happens I will have to live with it.
As for people who just buy the gold directly, it's just as bad as someone who buys items to trade for in game gold, the only difference is that they aren't flooding with economy with items that have the potential to break it.
EDIT: W00t! I just saw this http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewforum.php?f=2

i dont know about this still.... cant people still trade item mall items by gifting items to a player and then they pay u the gold. this game is kinda falling apart now.
its called "Silkroad" as in we trade and thieve hard to make cash. not buy stuff and sell to get freakin rich.the people who can buy these item mall items will be the higer levels because they have more money to buy more pots, better weapons, stuff like that.

I voted don't care...
I can't see any difference between buying in game gold and the Item Mall
Its simple really.. you need cash buy a monkey or scroll and sell it.. wham you just bought in game gold.
If anything it is Joymax that are ruining the economy with the item mall.
