Reporting bots: your experiences

Post by EliteHealer »

First of all: do NOT turn this into a "I hate bots" or "SRO is boring that's why I bot LOLOLOLOL" thread, ok? There are too many of them already.

What I want to know is that is reporting bots works or not. If you have reported bots to Joymax, have any of them turned up in the bot lists and had their accounts banned?

The reason I'm asking is that certain areas (Demon Horses, Huyngno Ghosts/Soldiers) are swamped with bots, and I could easily get the names of 20 botters and report them, but is it worth it?

Same here. :) I'll always find a little bot free spot to hunt mobs.
I'm not letting a computer program ruin my SRO fun.

I've reported hundreds, with precise co-ordinates and in many cases frpsed movies of the bot humping a wall/tree/rock, and I've never seen even one of those fu**ers banned.

Joynax employees are too busy counting all the cash they get from doing nothing about botter/players to sort it Image

yes there was, that's how elite diebe got to hack all the guys that reported them on Greece.

Yeah, I guess Joymax needs more GM's. I mean, botters aren't exactly hard to spot. Well, lets hope their new bot prevention system they're working on is really, really good. And I especially hope that more high lvl botters are caught.

i personally think that wasting money on a bot prevention is pointless~ hire GMs and invest more on updating. seriously i cant think of a game that has successfully rid themselves of bots. hell even counterstrike got bots

they did it on the guys who posted forum topics not on whoever used the bug report, crazy how something small ends up this big.

anyway i did had a great time between 53-54 with gap 9 those 2 levels any bot i did report was banned almost immediately maybe that is were my pro Joymax soul comes from xd
but now i am surrounded again.
i did give up between those security fixes but now started my weekly list
just did over 120names all level 50+ let`s see how many of those will get banned if there is at least 10% then i will be a happy panda.

i would say go for it especially now when it seems Joymax might have some time for the bot checks, try getting your list as big as possible before you send it and keep track on what is banned and what is still there. don`t forget locations and time.

btw don`t know if the bots(goldfarmers) crashed or got banned but when i passed hyeongcheong/bunwangs there were just a handful instead of the 30+ bots there.

Whether reporting works or not, if you don't report you have NO right to complain.
Also, Joymax said all they need is the server and name. They don't need, and don't even look at videos and screenshots and detailed logs of he stepped on this coordinate at this time and this coordinate at this particular time and took 5 seconds to do so, you are just wasting your time.

I seen screenshots from someone I know where the GM actually go up to them and say "*name of person* reported you for botting"
Really, that's messed up.. it should be anonymous. Of course they will retaliate if you just got their high level with good gear banned....

it was done via bug report as well as forums... I doubt those high lvls got ever to post on sro forums anyway... in other words all who reported ED ended up hacked.

I've reported a lot. Haven't noticed if any of them got banned. We have a good sized legit union on RedSea and we also have vids of a lot of the highest level botters doing what the do best (humping static objects of course). We're talking about getting everyone in the union to report them with links to the vids.

Will let ya'll know if anything comes of it. Seems a feeble effort but not trying because you're too lazy to be bothered.. that's just sad as Stallowned implied. These sorts of attitudes are what lead to people like ol george w. being one of the most powerful people in the world..
