Question about build and about playing with a proxy..

Post by Vegasian »

Hi everyone,
I have 2 more questions for you.

First question is about my character build.
I have this character, it's a lvl 39 Hybrid INT with spear, I started building it without knowing the advantages of a PURE build.
But now I realise that I'm not really good in anything, my nukes are weak and I lose pvp from pure builds, pure builds which are 3 lvls lower than me :S.
Should I start a new character with a pure build ? Or is hybrid int really not so bad as I think it is?

Second question is about playing with a proxy.
When I'm at school (we have our own laptops so I can install anything I want to on it), I can't play SRO because a proxy server prevents the game from being launched.
Now I already have the program which makes SRO start, but as soon as I do anything (like clicking away the intro-movie to get to the log in immediately), GameGuard starts acting up and crashes my game.
Is there any other way to play SRO with the proxy ?? If you have any knowledge on this, plz post it here :D
(Oh btw, the program I already found is called SocksCap, but it doesn't helps me if that annoying GameGuard keeps whining and crashing my fun :P)

Thanks, Vegasian.

Easy what you do is you set up your own proxy server at your home computer. When you set it up, make the proxy port a common port that wouldn't be blocked by their filters and stuff. When connecting to your proxy at home, forward the game packets through the game port.

Do some research on setting up a personal proxy server and you should find an answer.

EDIT: Or another solution is to connect to your network over PPTP or using OpenVPN to the schools computer and just "virtual desktop connect" to your computer at home (of course it would have to be on).

That won't work... That site only compress'es your "internet traffic" That has nothing to do with playing from school with proxy or something it does not give you something new!

VNC is not an option, that runs way to slow because the transaction from school > home is not fast and trying to play a game then is way to slow. Already tried that. And your idea about setting up a home proxy is still have to try that.

But im gonna try with my linux then set up a "tunnel" and connect to that with port 80 ( that is not blocked from school cuz it is a internet webbrowser port ) And try to connect it then!

Well, all the technical stuff is a bit to hard for me, setting up my own proxy I wouldn't have a clue on where to start..

And about the program you point to cool2fool, are u sure that works? Cause I already tried the program called Sockscap which is like the same thing, I did manage to get Guild Wars up and running with Sockscap, but with SRO it didn't work.

So if anybody knows more about it you're welcome to post :)

My school has a proxy server on certain games.
Silkroad is one of them.
Luckily they gave us an administration account if we needed to install something, and that account bypasses the proxy for games.
I'm back.

Ok, I've downloaded it, signed up, checked the SRO-box, so now it will work ?
You say I have to go to another part but which part would that be ?

Nope it doesn't, still it won't start.
What I don't understand is why are programs like WOW and GW able to run but SRO not :banghead: it doesn't makes any sense.
Every program I try to run fails :x Yourfreedom, Sockscap, TCompressor :x should I just give up in trying to find a way ??
