See this is anther of the concept that a lot of games fail at, not just SRO.
Why add frustration to the game when people play to enjoy it? When you die, you get XP deducted/chance of losing your item. When you're unlucky with alchemy (which really is a misused term, more like weapon smithing), you lose your money. When you're careless, you sold your SOS to a vendor.

so yea..WOW has that thing where if you equip a "epic" item you cant sell it, wtf. A major part of silkroad is "hooking" a weapon up and selling for profit after you use it. Man..I failed 25 shield elixers before I +3'd a shield but then in the last 3 days I had a lvl 1 sos bow, lvl 1 som spear, and lvl 8 sosun blade go to +3, all on FIRST TRY. If the weapon fails to much, ditch it and try another. ALSO, I NEVER NEVER try for anything over +3, I just buy them, its not worth it most times.
Another wierd way is if you want a +5 or +7, find a good priced +4 or +6 and try just ONE time, it works sometimes
Might even save money instead of buying 20+ wep elixers to never get it to +4.

Well, in fact there're 2 types of soul bound: on pick up and on equip. You can only exchange soul bound on equip items.
2 reasons why soul bound makes sense:
1. People can't buy with real life money. yeah you can go and buy an account with all the soul bound items but that's it. Less real life money changing hand = less hassle/bullshit. I love it when the rich people can't do shit in WoW. True they can use the money to buy gold, which in turn, buy auctioned items. But the players can get equally good, if not superior items from Dungeons with their effort not pocket. I don't see many good level 60 items.
2. Soul bound concept keeps the game economy strong. In WoW, everbody gets a chance at good items, from low level to high level. If you don't have soul bound, all of those would be trash, forget the green/white.
I know you people are prolly sick and tired of people like me praising WoW this and WoW that. But it's like i'm meeting a new girl after a bad relationship, you know? LOL this new girl just kick ass so much, we can't zip it.
so from now on, instead of talking about wow, i'll say "with my new girl". LOL
