Silkroad-R on Linux. Any luck?
Any luck getting Silkroad-R to work in Linux? SilkroadR Guard gets part way through and disappears, going back to the launcher, every time for me just like the original SRO. :/
Missing the good times in SRO...
SRO:

0x, INT wizard (Venice)
19, INT spear (Venice)
34, STR rogue/bard (Venus)

8x, INT bard/cleric (Gaia)

No, it wouldn't work because of Hackshield (there is a huge post of details about it on winehq).
Your best chance would be to use any virtualization software such as VMWare (I did try with VirtualBox but it crashed the whole vm [ it has experimental support to D3D] ).
In the past it was easy to run since GG was disabled by default.
This goes for all the games that has any anti-cheat (alias intrusive software) such as this HS, xtrap, etc, etc.

Re: Silkroad-R on Linux. Any luck?
I figured that was still the case. I haven't checked winehq lately, but I do remember Silkroad being in "garbage" status a while back. I also remember the SRF posts about failed attempts at SRO on Ubuntu and others. I kinda hoped Silkroad-R might have been different. :/
I know, there's always VMWare. That's just a lot of overhead just to run a game. So much better native if it could just work.
