my first multi star trade on maya

So I did my first multi star trade as a lv24 str bow.

This was late at night and during battle arena, so I figured there would be a very minimal thief risk. I load up my horse and leave Donwhang for Jangan. After I get off the western ferry, a euro mage thief on a lv45 horse (who was probably invisible) starts following me. I think to myself, "oh man I'm screwed..there goes 150k worth of goods." And it looked like I thought right. He kills my horse, then chases me around (obviously toying with me cause he's much faster) for a bit before killing me.

Then he lols and tells me to hurry back and get my goods before they disappear, claiming that he killed me by accident. He doesn't seem to be picking up the goods for himself, and risking another 0.50% at lv24 isn't that bad, so I race back on my red horse from Donwhang. I see him there sitting on an Indian camel. He terminates the camel, lets me pick up my goods, and then lets me go. I expected him to ambush me somewhere down the road for the lulz, but it never happened. I was surprised.

Although I was just lucky that this thief was super nice, I would like to do multi star trades again. It seems like there's a shortage of hunters though. Everyone seems to want to quickly level instead of jobbing. Any suggestions?

He probably felt bad for killing a low level, and killed you in the first place because he had an itchy finger. I've done this before in other games. Yeah, you were very lucky that mage had humanity.

Also that's pretty smart. Never thought about starting a trade during events, although I don't think I ever bothered myself the thought of trading to begin with.

If I kill a low level trader I will generally let them take their items and go, unless of course they spam me with insults, then I kill them several times and take their shit for my own.

i used to let low lvl traders go but theres a huge thieving community on my server so if i dont get them another thief will. traders are already rare enough as it is. but i would have let you go on a new server
