how stupid can joymax and the community be?
I'm aware of the fact that joymax has made an effort to stop the botting, or at least pretend to be doing so. The statues of justice do a decent job keeping the gold bot population low. It's interesting how it took them over four years to think of this though. Quite interesting.
Anyways there's still the issue of player bots. I was chatting with my union, asking them if they were legit. They pretty much laughed at me. Then I asked them where they get their bots. They told me that you need to pay $7.50 a month for it.
First of all, why would you want to support bot companies? They turned this amazing game into a cheating contest. That would just be like giving money to someone you don't like. And think about it this way, if you bot for two years, that's almost 200 bucks. You could've spent that money on a leather jacket, a guitar, anything else.
More importantly though, if EVERYONE chose to be legit and not bot, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY TO CHEAT JUST TO BE ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD. But realistically this doesn't happen. If one single player chose to bot while the rest of a server stayed legit, that one player will be at an advantage. Then the rest of the server will be slightly disadvantaged because that one player will be high level. With this mindset, everyone will want to bot. The end result is that if you don't bot you will be at an enormous disadvantage because there will be many people double or triple your level even if you grind frequently. And all of this happens while people know (well anyone with a brain for that matter) that the game would be more enjoyable if no one bots. That Nash Equilibrium thing I was taught in economics seems to apply to this game, unfortunately.
Now there are rumours that people who bot generate most of the silk revenue for Joymax. This makes sense. If you're willing to pay for botting, you're probably willing to pay for silk. And if you're unwilling to pay for botting, you're probably unwilling to pay for silk. So people are saying that joymax is deliberately not doing anything about the bot companies because of this.
What do you guys think?

Re: how stupid can joymax and the community be?
well, ye, my friend bots on isro and he says its easy to avoid the statues just by making scripts that go around them
, so ye player bots are still around, oh btw, the 1 player that botted wouldnt have an advantage because in PTs you get more xp then soloing but ye, you cant pt 24/7 so maybe......he'd be higher, but not by much
2nd version of Goseki....

Not by much? Are you kidding? Unless you're in a party for several hours a day, a botter will level much faster than you.

If you look around on these forums, and even the official GM forums on JM site. You will see that they have been told not to touch silk buying bots, so I would think that is true. Sad, but true.
And if you dont think there are 24/7 pt's look a little harder.

It probably took Joymax 4 years to start using the statues because they are under new management. WeMade (?) just bought them recently. New management, new rules.

Re: how stupid can joymax and the community be?
what can you expect from a bad system with bad people?
The system is meant to control everyone in it to a certain degree but leave them with a certain amount of freedom for themselves.
In Silkroad this means to play but not to bot.
But then the system needs money, and the best way to squeeze it out of players is to make spending money give them an advantage: win win.
Now players find a loophole and use the systems dependancy on their money to justify botting because:
Botters don't spend their time grinding for hours and therefore don't get bored with the game,
stay in it longer and the company has higher chances of getting money from these guys.
If Joymax bans them, it will lose most of it's money and have to reinvent the game, which it is reluctant to do.
The company messed up by:
Making a game basically built around the concept of grinding your socks off.
This concept still applies because they're too lazy to put away the donuts, come up with some ideas to bring some diversity into play and make it about the triangular conflict.
The extreme grinding content is just begging for players to use bots.
Now about how the players mess up:
The players use bots, usually more than 5 clients per person.
When the servers are full, everyone is for limitations so that they can login.
When joymax intervenes and the goldbots are gone, you will see players goldbotting and take over the role of goldbot companies, it gets crowded again and we howl again.
The players are always out to search ways to increase their own freedom, disregarding the freedom of others because they are all selfish.
/tldr: We need a little more intervention from the company to have some control in the game.

Re: how stupid can joymax and the community be?
There's no need to cheat in this game. What there is a need for is different SP requirements gained by other means - questing or something. They just have to rebuild the game and I doubt they'll do it now.
I don't pvp 1v1 much, but if I do I'll pick someone around my level to fight. I still hunt and have fun with that, parties and whatnot when we can. It's been great with a ton of new legit people on Iris. Everyone seems to be having fun there, it's too bad it's not on the scale that Venus seems to have been - we'll probably not hold the fortress for a long time if ever, but one day I hope to be part of that effort. It IS annoying to get owned by a high level botter thief tho.
BTW if Wemade/Joymax has their way, that free bot that THEY supply in Ksro may wind up over here :/

I stopped caring about all this tbh, yea it sucks. It sucks more on some days than on others, yea i complain every now and then too, but honestly idc anymore. Frustration is no stranger to me yes, but idk how to say this other than, it doesn't really matter. I play while I'm having some fun. If I stop having fun, I'll stop playing

^ just curious did you buy this char ? or you made it ? and the way i meant you will understand. dam right being a 100% legit game would be much better. you just have to deal with it. botters will be there in sro. instead of crying about it.. like this thread. just accept it. or make a small legit community until joymax fix the game(good luck with that).
go through pages of GD see how much crying thread there are.

Couldn't agree more. It took me about 2 and a half years to get my blader to lvl 54 on Venice, underfarmed, and I was never even tempted to bot or bot power level. I don't even accept power level from actual players, even though I've been offered on many occasions. I say play the game or don't play. Don't just sit back and collect exp/sp from someone else.
