Price is only half of the issue with most people. Only luckly people under 17 can use an adult's credit card. Probably 60% of the game is made up of 17 years or lower. Even some people over the age still don't have a credit card. Hopefully, they'll add a PayByCash option. That'd solve my issues. :)

Overpriced?

Comparing to what other online games with item malls that I've played, this is cheaper compared to what I've played. Comparing this game to the other games I've played before, this game shows a lot more potential than most games I've played. Comparing how they price the items, I say it is not pricey but not cheap either. Other games I've played don't even show as much potential as Silkroad and their items in the item mall cost a lot more than what Silkroad is charging.

The item mall is just an alternative to enhance your game play. Even if you don't want or can't get any of the items in the item mall, it is definately not going to disrupt or destroy how you play the game. If you want to buy something from the item mall but refuse to pay real money, then get it off the stalls from other players. It's not like a-must that you get things from the Item Mall if you wanna play. If you don't want to get anything for real cash, then don't. No one is forcing anyone to do that.

Just stick with curse hearts

BlueFeather... Madduck said he used cursed hearts.

Anyhow, how do Koreans afford this when half of them are umemployed? MMORPG public aid?

How would you know that half of them are unemployed? You got some statistical backup there?

so. lets say we have a char with lv31 skills, and hes going to buy all kinds of items, as well as changing his race cos he dont likes chinese anymore.

-Character Skin Change Scroll Price 80 Silk x1
-Skill Reallocation Potion Price 28 Silk x64
(he used a glaive, but he wants to use some european weapon, so he needs to get rid of his glaive skills. lets say he didnt learned the "useless" skills but maxed out the rest, so that would mean he has to remove 33 skill levels + the 31 mastery levels (im not 100% sure, but must be somewhere near this))
-Monkey Summoning Scroll Price 88 Silk x1
-4-Week Gold Time Service Ticket Price 130 Silk x1
so hes buying some buff scrolls for guildwars, whatever.
-20% Damage Increase Scroll Price 25 Silk x8
-20% Damage Resistance Scroll Price 25 Silk x8
i have no idea how many pots a char might using in a month. i use about 200-500 manapots and 50-150 hp pots/day depending on what i do and how long im doing it, so lets say its 350 mana and 100 hp pots /day
-HP Recovery Potions (Large) Price 50 Silk x3
-MP Recovery Potions (Large) Price 50 Silk x10
since hes getting double xp, he will need to buy new euqipment more often then usual. and since good equipment always has the wrong grender using 5 of this tools in a month seems ok for me
-Intermediate Defense Gender Switch Tool Price 16 Silk x5
-Chakji's Helmet Price 40 Silk x1
-Earth Ghost Stall Price 24 Silk x1
(This is a stall decorated with cute Earth Ghost dolls on the sign - rotf earth ghosts are soo cute, wanna cudle them all day)

3284 silk - ouch (of course this is the first month. after this half price for keeping the monkey alive, and i gess he wont have to reskill every week)

ok, this is an imaginary scenario, but its well possible i think. i dont meant to say anything according the mall prices. as i see it, some items are pretty expensive but others are really worth it
Kewanaar - Bakemasters
Lv6x - Trader Lv3 - Hunter Lv2 // Wolf - Huan
I'm a legend in my spare time!
Quit :/

On a side-note, they're not so cute when you have to kill them in the field. Those things are ghastly... and make annoying sounds :P

i dont agree with this statement at all... I work 5 days a week... and in my opinion , yes this is overpriced. The reason i started SR is because it looked like a great game at no cost to me unlike other MMOs. If you add this on to entertainment (like movies, etc) every month it adds up. Or if you are like myself who pays for 3 MMO accounts, i do not want to add another fee to my monthly bill. >> not meant to flame, just stating my opinion

Monkey not worth 88 silk?

Do you have a monkey?

We did a trade run and got robbed. Tons of NPC's. Then the 52+ theives were spawning thieves as they stole the loot. Monkey picked up 20K in gold piles, and a couple items from 52+ NPC thief.

I finished gathering heocheon powders in about 30-40 minutes. I don't have to walk over to the mob and pick things up. Not even quest items. I run fast, blaze through the quest, mowing things down. Never stopping. Never using -Z- to see the items on the ground.

Monkey handles it all. And he picked up about 40K gold doing heocheons, 3 items and an elixer.

Monkey has 21 inventory slots. With the ammount of arrows he picks up, you wont need them anymore. You can also keep some spare pots in him.

He also picks up all items and gold from OTHER people who dont pick it up fast enough.

Monkey picks up items dropped from players and murderers faster than you could pick it up.

And he lasts FOUR weeks. And when hes not summoned or your not logged in, his clock isn't used. So stretch that out way beyond 4 weeks.

Heres the best part - not everyone can afford him.

Before, people sold 1m gold for $8. Monkey sells for 4-5m

NOW tell me the monkeys not worth 8$ - LESS than a case of beer that lasts me a few days.

Hee hee :D

Imagine this - monkey picking up Ureuchi drops.

People leave so much gold all over the roads, everywhere you go. Tigers, ravine, flowers. He pick it all up.

I love my little 'Poptart'. Maybe if your on Xian you'll meet him sometime ^_^

Monkey does tend to piss people off though, because he picks up all thier piles and items when they are busy fighting multiple mobs.

Overpriced?

Not at all, lets get a few things clear here.

Not a single one of these items is needed to play the game, they assist you and help you level faster but they are not needed. If you don't have a credit card ten just farm a ton of gold, I made over 5 million last night with something like 12 dollars of sales.

There will be people like me who log on and auction off item mall items to those who can't pay cash, so why are you complaining?

:banghead:

For the record, I don't have a monkey, an exp scroll, all I have is 1000 mp and hp pots, small and med gender switch and repair hammers. Roughy $5 USD worth.

REALLY!? So he doesn't just disappear 4 weeks after you buy him? It's 4 weeks of actual playing time?

If so that makes the monkey even more attractive! (not sexually. :P )

And I can imagine people getting pissed off if the monkey takes their drops, but you can't exactly STOP him from picking stuff up, can you?

I think this is a good idea. Since I'm practically broke in-game I could buy some item mall stuff and sell it. Of course some things I would want to keep for myself, but if I buy extra stuff and help out people who can't use the item mall for whatever reason...... I think that's a good idea.

Yet everyones drops are being swiped

i was actually at a Ureuchi fight yesterday, and several others there had monkeys. people got really pissed when the monkeys stole the drops, but i think it's brilliant. even if you go there and just watch, and don't fight, you'll still make out like, well, a bandit [pardon the pun]

LOL SRO compared to beer :D Love it.

Beer at a bar around here is about $2.50. Three beers is $7.50 plus a buck or two tip. Call it $9.50.

Of course, I always spend bout $40-$60 when I go out.

Wake up with nothing but headache.

Spend $8.80 on monkey - wake up and still have a monkey for 4 weeks.

Yeah, "Dad, I need to use your credit card to buy a monkey." doesn't fly well.

Or, "Dad, I need to use your credit card for the MMORPG that I love so much!" :(

All we can dp is wait until we are of age. I'll hopefully still be playing. If I'm lucky I can talk my mom into a monkey for Christmas. No, not a real one.
