Re: Joymax not taking action.
They only made 1 million dollars last year, it's really not that much considering WoW I think has like 15 million subscribers or some shit? That's like 225 Million dollars a year compared to a shitty 1 million lol...

Re: Joymax not taking action.
Silkroad Online alone net 6.6 mil USD in a single quarter. And everyone says botters don't buy silk. HAHAHAHA Apparently they do and lots of it.
Re: Joymax not taking action.
if they ear that much, why couldn't they start banning bots slowly, and when the time is right, there will be no more bots.
Re: Joymax not taking action.
If you think about how many people actually buy silk. Each server has 3000+ players online at any given time. Subtract the gold bots and addicts who can't buy silk(over 90%). Now take into account that not every silk buyer buys silk every month. Where does JM gets such huge reported earnings from? The answer is probably what most of us expected and that is from doing business with gold bots(or owns them). So why should JM take action?

I dunno where you got that 1mil from, it's probably more and besides. It's a f2p game so every profit is great.

Re: Joymax not taking action.
I think everybody is making the mistake thinking that JM's profit is only from Isro wich its certainly not!! JM gets big money from Licenses of the other SRO versions and for the updates
i bet Isro is acuatly the lowest part of the income JM gets.

Re: Joymax not taking action.
According to the article, Joymax made a net profit of 17100000000 (17.1 Bil) Korean Won in 2008.
Thats only 13985099.20 USD or basically 14 million dollars. Not as much as I would have thought but still alot.

I meant in terms of such an established product $14M isnt that much for a years profits. It would be interesting to know the amount they earned from selling silk and then the amount they get paid from their franchises.

"Such factors are expected to give extra momentum to the company's stock prices," he said.
Stock price of JOYMAX rose 4.17 percent to close at 59,900 won on Tuesday.
Maybe it would be a good time to invest in joymax.

That's actually who you should credit; the people that wrote the article, not the person that reposts it. (Even she credits it correctly. Just an FYI in case you have to write papers or articles. Incorrect sources is a no-no).
Anyways; to get to the point of what was being discussed, we've all known SRO was a crappy game with shitty service. I don't think anyone should be surprised to see that they are making money off of it. One major point I am wondering is where they were spending all of their money from 2008?
Revenue '08 = 32.9 billion won, Net Profit '08 = 19.4 (or 17.1, not really sure, the article says 17.1, but the caption up top says 19.4) billion won.
Meaning that they spent 13.5 (or 15.8 ) billion won in operating costs. Who the fck are they paying lol? Was this from the development of their automated customer service?

<3 baro lol. If I said something like that to a professor, they would slap an F on my paper and send me back to middle school.
I still want to know where they spent almost half of their revenue. I mean seriously. How many people are they actually paying?

No reason to be sorry for disagreeing with me, haha, as long as you can state your own reasons for feeling the way you do, you can't be wrong, at least as far as opinions go.

Re: Joymax not taking action.
if only joymax had someone like this to help
Spoiler!
Re: Joymax not taking action.
So in 2008 Joymax made 26 Million USD or 33 Billion Won. That doesn't include their expenses for their 200 employees, servers and whatever else.
The other part the figures don't take into account is the Korean Gaming companies are subsidized by the Government to compete against western companies. So that 26 Million isn't just profit, it's their total earnings, and includes their subsidies. And remember this isn't just from Silkroad International, this would be from all versions, as Taiwan's company would have to pay for license and maintenance fees and Joymax's other games.
If you look further down it shows their Net/Operating profits. They made about 15 Million USD in 2008.
It's more successful than I expected but not as successful as that blog posting suggests. But how much did iSRO really make for them? Still impressive none the less
